Namaste,
Friends.
Welcome.
My name is Holly and I'm here to guide you through a technique called a Vuh Breath.
V as in Victory O-O,
Vuh Breath.
This particular breath technique is an amazing way to calm the nervous system down.
It's accessible at any time in your day.
You don't need to be lying down.
You don't need to have your eyes closed.
You could do this in the car.
In fact,
I do do this in the car when I'm feeling stressed about traffic or going somewhere on time.
This particular technique is a little bit like an Om Breath,
But the sound is Vuh,
V-O-O.
This particular sound helps to vibrate the throat and the back of the head,
Which in turn stimulates the vagus nerve.
The vagus nerve can help calm the nervous system down.
So when you do this breath,
You might experience feelings of softening in the body.
You might experience a sense of relaxation.
I hope that you experience a decrease in stress and anxiety for that is what the goal is to shift your nervous system from sympathetic fight flight to parasympathetic rest and digest.
This breath technique is perfect for that.
So I'll walk you through it and then we'll do a few rounds together.
The breath is quite simple.
You'll breathe in through your nose and as you exhale,
You'll chant the sound of Vuh,
V-O-O-O.
And now it doesn't matter how loud you sound,
Your pitch,
Anything like that,
Because the goal of this breath is simply to create that sound and vibration in your body.
You can do this as many rounds as you like,
Anywhere that you like,
Anytime that you like.
Today together,
We will take five rounds of Vuh Breath.
Next we'll take a breath in and an open mouth exhale and then we'll take five rounds of Vuh Breath.
If it's safe to do so,
You can soften your gaze or close your eyes.
You can do this from a seated position or lying down if you prefer or even standing up.
Let your hands relax into a place that feels comfortable.
Let your shoulders soften and we'll begin.
Take a big breath in.
Open mouth exhale,
Let it go.
Big breath in.
Vuh Breath.
Vuh Breath.
Vuh Breath.
Vuh Breath.
Vuh Breath.
And now let your breath return to a natural rhythm.
Inhales and exhales through your nose as you pay attention to the echoes and reverberations in your body from that breath technique.
What do you feel in your physical body?
Do you notice any sensations in your hands or your belly or your throat or head?
How does your breath feel right now?
And how does your mind feel,
What thoughts,
What feelings are present right now?
I hope this breath technique was helpful to you today,
My friends.
Feel free to come back to it anytime you need throughout the day.
Have a wonderful and blessed day.
