Hello and welcome.
I am so glad you're here.
This is a simple practice of discovering and resting in natural clarity.
Here we will meditate on clarity of awareness in a simple way based on the Tibetan Buddhist teachings from the highly regarded Dzogchen master Longchenpa.
The clarity we access here is the ordinary knowing clarity of mind and heart.
It is always present so you don't need to do anything other than rest in the knowing quality of mind.
So sit back,
Drop all the effort and I will cue you through Longchenpa's knowing clarity pointings.
You don't need to think about the statements or contemplate them.
Just simply breathe them in.
Inhale them as an essence and see if they can help ease you into effortless presence.
We will do both an open and closed eyes practice.
To begin with,
Find a comfortable position take a few long slow breaths into the belly to settle yourself and let yourself really land here.
You've made time for this practice so invite your whole self to this meditation by anchoring in the body through the breath.
So to begin with,
Leave your eyes open with a natural gaze straight ahead and become aware of the natural energy in your body,
In your mind,
And in your heart that you are present to.
Just that.
There is a knowing of what's present without judgment.
Just be curious about what is present in your body,
What is present in your thoughts and your environment.
Just simply that.
Just letting yourself be with what is.
And now gently close your eyes and notice what happens.
Stay aware of what is present in your mind,
Your heart,
And your body.
This time adjust your posture to being upright and alert while also easeful and relaxed.
While also easeful and relaxed.
What is present now in your body?
What is present in your thoughts?
What is present in your feelings?
Now that you are connected to knowing what is present,
Take time to connect with gratitude and bodhichitta,
Dedicating this practice to all beings.
Then take a few moments to connect with the blessings of your own profound lineage.
Whether you come from traditions of Christian,
Buddhist,
Jewish,
Nature-based,
Muslim,
Whatever that is,
Just simply rest in the knowing of the blessings of these lineages and all the people before you who are working like you to know true peace and happiness within.
Now completely let go.
Just rest your mind and heart.
Just rest your mind and heart.
You don't need to do anything at all.
There is no object,
Focal object of your attention.
You don't need to block any thoughts or emotions.
Just be completely free and natural and rest in the open awareness in which everything arises.
When you connect to this luminous knowing awareness,
This innate clarity,
This isn't a bright light or a vivid presence that suddenly wakes us up.
It's not an altered state of consciousness.
I'm referring to this very ordinary ever-present knowing quality of mind.
So right now bring this knowing quality to your ears and just know the sounds in your environment.
Simply the knowing of sound,
The sound of my voice and whatever else is arising.
Just let yourself experience sound.
All you need to do is just let go and rest in the knowing presence of sound.
Letting everything be and allowing whatever is happening to happen naturally.
Notice that this knowing is here.
It's not something you can turn off.
It's always present.
Notice that awareness is empty and rootless from the beginning.
Like space,
It is completely transparent throughout.
There is no inside or outside,
No in between.
Now we'll turn our attention to thought and allow yourself to be completely aware of whatever thoughts are arising.
This could be about anything,
A meal,
A sport,
Surfing,
Basketball,
Children,
A conversation.
Doesn't matter.
Just rest in the open,
Ungraspable space of awareness that is your own true nature.
As all thoughts arise peacefully and effortlessly without judgment.
Just allowing these thoughts to arise while you rest in the boundless nature which embraces all.
So often thoughts are sticky.
We feel fused to them.
But here we see,
We focus on the knowing of thoughts whether they are joyful,
Sad,
Difficult,
Happy.
Difficult,
Happy.
No matter what thought arises,
There's simply the knowing of thought and you are aware of the knowing that gives rise to these thoughts.
Awareness is completely open and transparent.
Turn towards the awareness of the knowing of thought and see that it has no boundaries,
No edges.
It's completely open and free.
There is nothing you need to do here.
Just surrender and be in this open and radiant awareness.
Just let go and be this limitless clarity of awareness.
Feel the quality of open,
Spacious awareness.
Slowly now,
Open your eyes,
Remaining very still and present.
There is nothing you need to do here.
Resting with open eyes.
You,
Your thoughts,
Feelings,
Feelings,
Thoughts,
Feelings,
There is nothing you need to do here.
Resting with open eyes.
You,
Your thoughts,
Feelings,
Sounds,
Perceptions.
All of this is fundamentally pure and pristine.
There is nothing you need to do to change or add or improve what you are experiencing in this moment.
Simply recognize the innate purity of this moment as it is open and free.
Simply be as you are in this moment.
Bring your awareness now inside your heart space and allow yourself to simply be as you are resting in your heart.
Resting very naturally.
So you realize that you only ever experience this present moment of awareness just as it is.
Just as it is.
When you recognize that,
Clarity dawns.
It's always this way for everyone.
It's just that we're so busy we miss it.
Don't miss it.
Feel the inherent goodness of you,
Of your own beautiful loving heart.
And now as you go about your day,
Pause and take time to be with whatever is happening.
The moment presents.
Whenever you are engaged in,
Look within and examine awareness and rest in the ever-present ordinary knowing quality of awareness.
Thank you for your boundless pristine presence.
Thank you for meditating with me.
