Good morning and welcome to today's morning meditation.

Today's topic is coming to terms with disappointment.

We have all felt the burning sting of having something right at our grasp and not being able to attain it.

Or planning for something and having it not work out.

Or working really hard for something and having to let it go.

So this morning if you awoke to the feeling of letdown,

Of disappointment,

Then find yourself in a seated position or laying in your bed making yourself as comfortable as you can.

Close your eyes.

Take a few deep breaths and let's spend a moment just processing this news,

This bit of information.

Maybe it's still fresh.

Maybe it just happened.

Maybe you're still in shock.

Whatever it is,

Be kind to yourself and focus on the breath.

The dear old friend that helps us through anything.

Exhaling all your breath out.

Inhaling deeply through the nose,

Feeling fresh oxygen.

Permeate every cell and then exhale completely and letting it all go.

Two more times just like this.

Inhale through the nose and exhale through the nose or the mouth.

Sighing it out.

Letting it go.

One more time together.

Inhale through the nose and exhale through the nose or the mouth.

Allowing your body to soften and relax.

Breathing normally and naturally for yourself.

In these morning meditations we attempt to focus on the breath,

Relaxing the body,

Easing the mind and then listening to the heart to help guide us.

So as you're breathing deeply and completely,

Noticing if any area in your body is tense and any sort of letdown or disappointment.

Things not going our way.

We can hold tension in different areas of the body.

So starting at the forehead,

Breathing deep,

Noticing if you have any tension behind the eyes,

The back of the head,

The cheekbones,

The jaw.

And breathing deeply and creating space in these areas,

Allowing the energy to flow.

Breathing,

Settling,

Unclenching the jaw,

Creating space between the top of the mouth and the bottom of the mouth.

Noticing if there's any tension in the back of the neck or the shoulders and allow this next breath to ease any of the muscles and the tissues that might be tight.

As you breathe,

Notice if you're clenching your hands or your feet.

Allow your belly to be heavy.

Feel your feet flat on the floor.

Allow gravity to weigh upon you and ground you.

Although there is disappointment in our day,

We are safe.

We are secure.

We are okay.

If your mind wanders,

Come back to the breath.

Let that be your anchor,

The point that holds you to the present moment.

And take a moment to listen to your heart.

Feel what you're feeling.

Don't turn away from it.

Allow your body to relax if anything has tightened up.

Take a moment and visualize the disappointment.

Acknowledge the hard work that you did.

Remember that you've been here before and you've been able to pick yourself up.

This too shall pass.

Historically,

You've gotten through every situation in the past.

Breathing,

Settling,

Feeling in your body the sensations,

Listening to your heart.

If there's something that needs to be done or needs to be let go of,

Listen to what your heart tells you.

Say some words of encouragement.

Build yourself up.

Now visualize a time when a disappointing moment actually turned out to be a gift.

Maybe you didn't go on that vacation because something else was in your path.

Maybe you didn't get the job because a different job was waiting for you.

Maybe a relationship didn't work out because a new one was about to bud.

So throughout your day today,

Remember the times when you were disappointed,

But it turned out to be a blessing.

Shifting our focus,

Reframing,

Can help you see things in a new light.

One last time,

Allow your body to soften and relax.

Settling in,

Feeling grounded and rooted,

Taking a deep,

Long breath.

When you're ready,

Open your eyes.

Commit to making this the best day possible.

Allow yourself to process the event that just happened and continue your day with kindness and love,

Knowing this setback will only offer new opportunities.

Thank you so much for allowing me the precious gift of your time.

Until next time.
