Okay,
So we're here.
An emergency situation.
Maybe you're spiraling.
Stress,
Anxiety,
Depression,
Anger.
Regardless of what caused the situation,
There is always an opportunity to create calmness and peace within ourselves.
That starts with taking the awareness away from the thing that is causing us suffering and bringing it to something more calming.
Today we're going to use the breath.
We're going to use a counting technique.
Now the point here is to do your best at holding your focus on the breath.
Now we're going to do that is we're going to inhale and count one.
Then exhale at the very end of the exhale,
Count two.
And then inhale again at the very end of the inhale,
Count one.
And exhale at the very end of the exhale,
Count two.
Now if you get lost in thought again,
Simply know that your brain doing what it's meant to do and gently with compassion and acceptance bring it back to the breath and the counting.
Remember,
Just do your best here.
There is no perfect way to meditate.
I'll start breathing with you at first and then I'll allow you to sink in.
So let's inhale,
One.
Exhale,
Two.
Inhale,
One.
Exhale,
Two.
Inhale,
One.
Exhale,
Two.
Inhale,
One.
Exhale,
Two.
Inhale,
One.
Exhale,
Two.
Inhale,
One.
Exhale,
Two.
Inhale,
One.
Exhale,
Two.
Again,
If your mind wanders,
Simply bring it back to breathing and counting.
Try to blanket your breath with your awareness.
Almost like follow the leader with your breath in front and your awareness right behind.
Okay.
Now I know the situation that brought you here today.
It's probably pretty heavy.
And although sometimes our minds can convince us that this feeling will never end,
If you found any peace in this few minutes,
You know that now to be true.
So whatever you're experiencing,
Whatever emergency situation you're going through,
Take these few minutes as an example that calmness and peace is always available to you with a little conscious effort,
A little hope,
And a little faith.
Feel free to come back to this anytime you find yourself spiraling or need just a few moments of relaxation.
It's all going to be okay.
Namaste.
