Hello,
And welcome to this meditation.
Today we're going to challenge our constructs of reality.
And I know that might sound super deep,
But trust me,
This is going to be fun.
You see,
Meditation has the ability to provide us with not just calmness and relaxation,
But also the opportunity to approach life with curiosity.
And if we can take that curiosity that we practice in meditation and bring it into our everyday life,
We can start to question certain reactions that we take to different situations that get thrown at us.
And so first,
Let's make sure we're in a comfortable seated position and gently close your eyes.
Now I want you to bring your attention to your face in your head.
That's the question.
How do I know I have a face?
How do I know I have a face?
Maybe it's the pressure that you feel of your skin on your head.
Maybe it's subtle sensations in your brow,
Or your cheeks,
Or your nose or your chin.
Maybe you can feel the muscles tense in some areas and relaxed and loosen others.
Just keep your awareness focused on your face and your head and introduce a new level of curiosity about it.
How do you know that your face exists?
How do you know that your head exists?
If you were to describe it to someone who has no clue what a face or what a head is,
How would you describe those sensations?
How do you know that your face exists?
How do you know that your face exists?
How do you know that your face exists?
We often think of ourselves as inside our head or behind our face,
But all of the sensations that you decide tell you that your face exists are stemming from the same exact place in your consciousness that your thoughts exist.
Now gently open your eyes and take a look at your visual landscape.
Notice the array of colors and lights and shadows,
The subtle differences,
The tiny micro shifts in your visual landscape.
Now you may look around at objects and things in your visual landscape and feel like they're out there and you're in here,
But take a moment and challenge that viewpoint.
Take a moment and approach your visual landscape with a new perspective.
Realize that everything you see is also stemming from the same place within your consciousness.
The same place of thoughts,
The same place of sensations,
Feelings.
Everything you see with your eyes open is being perceived from within your consciousness.
So are those objects and those things you see,
Are they out there?
Would they be out there if you weren't perceiving them from within your consciousness at this moment?
This exercise in shifting our perspective of what's out there and what's in here gives us the ability to understand the connectedness of all things,
The oneness of the universe.
You see,
If everything you see in your visual landscape and everything you feel in terms of sensations are all stemming from that same place within your consciousness,
Then the entire universe is stemming from that place within your consciousness.
So you see,
This blurs the line between separation and connectedness and opens you up to boundless collectiveness,
Understanding that there is nothing outside of you.
And in fact,
Even the perception of something being outside of you comes from within.
Now you can go ahead and close your eyes again.
You can use this meditation and this exercise as a reminder that certain circumstances and situations that may happen to you,
And you feel like they're outside of you,
They're uncontrollable.
This meditation can remind us that those situations are in fact part of you.
And equally,
Your reaction to them,
Your perception of them,
Your choices and decisions related to them are all happening within your consciousness.
And that gives us an almost godlike ability to create the world around us.
I want to thank you for joining me today.
And I want to challenge you to take this practice of curiosity into the rest of your day and feel the connectedness when you separate and blur the lines between you and the world around you.
Whenever you feel comfortable to do so,
You can open your eyes and become curious about the day ahead.
Thank you.
Namaste.
You
