Mindful breathing - awareness of breath - is a calm, non-judging awareness, allowing thoughts and feelings to come and go without getting caught up in them. We practice waking up to automatic pilot and coming to our senses. This meditation has short pauses and lots of guidance and is therefore most suitable for beginners.
