Now is the time.
Now is the time to know that all you do is sacred.
Why not consider a lasting truce with yourself and with your God?
Now is the time.
And so this is a practice today,
Embodying a space between things,
Understanding in our bones the purpose and the function of space,
The space between what we already know,
All that we know and what we've yet to learn,
What we can't yet understand.
In fact,
This is the kind of space that's beyond all understanding,
Surpasses understanding,
Just going on being.
We begin by feeling the ground underneath us,
Our connection to the earth,
The physical earth on which we live,
The earth of our physical bodies,
We are people of the earth,
We are earth bodies,
Limited,
Time limited,
Nonetheless we're here.
We've experienced an incarnation,
A coming into being,
A coming into aliveness,
Born from,
For something,
And now in our work,
Freeing ourselves for something and not just from something,
To be available,
To be accessible,
To be in these exchanges that bring us alive.
And feeling increasingly both that capacity and that right,
That right to express our voice,
Our right to make an impact and have impact that lasts,
Endures,
And as we claim that right and we cultivate that ability for ourselves,
It's in our bodies that we can transmit this,
It's through our bodies,
It's with this sense of presence that we can express and communicate what feels true.
So as we feel the ground underneath us,
We can also feel it now,
Being here now,
Today is the time.
We can reconsider everything in this space as we let our breath move through us,
As we open up beyond all our familiar thoughts,
All our habitual thinking,
And it's our breath that will take us,
As we quiet our mind and open our senses,
The physical sensation of our seat,
The temperature on our skin,
The feeling of movement through our body as breath comes in and goes forth.
We practice making space,
We don't hold on to our breath,
We let our breath move,
We release our grip on things,
We relax our grip,
We let the ground underneath us hold us,
The backs of the chairs support us.
As we let the breath come in,
The air doesn't come from us,
It comes from beyond us,
From the outside,
We take air in,
We open ourselves up to be vessels,
To be receptive,
To let come,
We make space inside,
We learn to let go,
Relax into stillness,
Groundedness,
Rootedness,
Establishing ourselves here.
As our breath flows,
Our energy moves like sap through the tree,
Upwelling,
Life force energy,
Presence,
Gravity,
In this space here we grow capable of suspending judgments,
Holding thoughts at bay,
Non-evaluating minds that distance itself from the world through its evaluations,
We just feel a part of being here,
Part of this circle,
A part of this room,
A part of this landscape,
Part of this existence,
Belonging ourselves to the world.
As we suspend judgment,
Open ourselves to experiencing and waiting,
No premature act,
No immediate decision making,
No resolutions,
No foreclosures,
We go further beyond where we've been,
We go to new perspectives,
New ways of perceiving,
Multiple ways of considering.
We unhurry ourselves,
We un-narrow ourselves,
We call a truce with ourselves,
No turning against in this moment,
Relaxing our grip on our regrets,
Getting ready for this day and any regret from the past,
We simply do that differently right now,
We make our amends by changing now,
We do honor to our losses by being kind,
Being receptive,
Being open to newness now,
Everything we do connected to wholeness,
Connected to grace today.
Again,
Suspending judgment,
Set aside ideas of right or wrong,
They're just a child's training wheels to be laid aside and finally,
Finally with veracity,
With vitality,
With tenderness now,
With more humanness,
More humanness to our experience.
And after we call this truce,
We can reconsider the places inside that have been in isolation,
Alone,
Left by ourselves,
What it would take to shift that most familiar limiting thought about ourselves to accompaniment,
To letting somebody into the alone space,
Someone just to be there like the archangel who says,
There's a mission for you,
A purpose for you,
It's going to astonish and trouble you,
It'll remake the world,
Yours first,
Beyond anything our families of origin could offer us,
The origin,
The original origin point,
The soul origin point,
Visiting us here,
Making space for that,
Being fertile in the space we make,
To be impregnated with a new idea,
A new reason to live,
A new purpose,
A new coming into being.
And then realizing now as we consider sustaining the truce,
Open ourselves to something fertile,
What Joseph Campbell would say,
Playing the game of the gods,
The creators,
With great humility,
With trepidation,
And with desire.
And feeling into the world around you from here,
Letting come in new breath,
New whispers of truth,
Possibility that come to your ears,
Meant only for you,
The non-human world,
The divine world that whispers,
That sits with you,
That watches over you,
That encourages you,
And understanding that that presence will want to express itself through all things,
Especially the ones in your inner circle,
Or perhaps this circle,
Today.
So we'll spend today looking,
Looking back,
Looking at what has been fixed in our identities that we could relax,
View in new ways,
That have been tainted or stained with shame,
And unworthiness,
And inadequacy,
All the human struggles,
But can also be ignited with desire,
And with vitality,
And with winged words.
Now is the time to know that everything you do from here can be sacred.
