This is a guided meditation for clearing blocks to decluttering.

Now you can use it on its own or you can use it in conjunction with the course on decluttering.

Now we have in our modern day probably a lot more stuff than we need.

But did you ever think why we have so much stuff?

Because and if you've ever tried to reduce the amount of stuff that you have,

You might have found it really hard.

And the reason is it's because we have an emotional attachment to things.

It's not rational.

If you were to be totally honest with yourself and look at your possessions,

I would probably say,

If you're living in the Western world,

That you don't need most of the things that you've got.

You've probably got stuff,

You've probably got lots of,

Say,

For example,

Pairs of trousers or plates than you need,

More cups and lots of other things beside.

Now,

The Buddha said that one of the greatest causes of suffering is attachment.

Attachment to things,

Attachment to people and attachment to places,

Attachment to anything that we think is going to bring us lasting happiness.

What this meditation is about,

Then,

Is looking at that emotional attachment.

Now,

You can do this on a specific item.

So if you're doing a decluttering course and you say you're starting to clear out the drawer or something,

You can use this meditation before you start to look at the emotional attachment and release some of that.

Now,

Don't put too much pressure on yourself because this has probably been building up over many years,

And it's a gradual letting go.

So letting go of attachment.

So make sure now that you're in a space where you're not going to be distracted or disturbed.

You might want to light a candle or some incense.

That sends a message to your subconscious that this is a sacred time.

Now,

This is a time for you.

And take some time to get yourself into a comfortable position.

Making sure that your back is straight,

But not too stiff.

And you have a firm support underneath you.

So if you're sitting on a chair,

Making sure that your legs are uncrossed and your feet are flat on the ground.

Or if you're sitting cross-legged or kneeling,

That there's support under the base of your spine as well.

And now just connect with the breath.

And if you wish,

You can close your eyes.

So now just bring to mind what you are focusing on now.

In terms of your decluttering,

It may be a particular item.

It may be a shelf,

A drawer,

A room,

Whatever it is,

Just bring that to mind now.

And as you do,

Notice any thoughts or feelings that come up.

And just let those thoughts and feelings arise without judging them.

Without thinking that they're wrong or that they shouldn't be there.

And just let those thoughts come and feel the emotions in the body.

If they're very strong or there's something traumatic,

Then please go and get some help.

Otherwise,

Just sit with the emotions and the thoughts as they arise and watch them.

And if you can,

Try not to get caught up in any stories about these thoughts,

About the things.

And remembering that you are the observer of your experience.

You're not your thoughts,

You're not your feelings.

These are conditioned responses.

And maybe this is the first time you've had an objective look at what's going on here.

So do be kind to yourself.

And as the thoughts and feelings arise,

Some things may come up that surprise you,

That you weren't aware that was there before.

Whatever comes up,

Whatever you're noticing,

This is progress.

And as you focus on this place or this object,

That perhaps,

You know,

Really,

In your logical mind,

You don't need.

You can start noticing now what the stories are around this.

And what feelings and emotions and thoughts that this object evokes in you.

And you can ask yourself,

Is it true?

It might even be funny.

And now you can imagine that mentally,

You're unhooking from these emotions.

You can feel it in the body,

But they're just feelings.

And you're unhooking the thoughts that are associated with these feelings.

And now just sitting with the bare sensations.

And feel these sensations as energy moving around the body.

They're not good or bad.

It's just energy.

And breathe into that energy.

And as you breathe in,

You can imagine that it's spreading,

Dissipating.

And as you breathe out,

You're letting go of this attachment to allow you to make rational decisions.

Becoming less reactive.

Keep breathing.

And notice that the energy will eventually dissolve,

Lose its power over you.

It may take some time,

And that's okay.

Take as long as it needs.

There's no pressure.

Just kindness.

And you can feel the body expanding with each in-breath.

As you let go,

You become lighter and freer.

And if you're not quite ready to let go,

You can come back and do this meditation as often as you wish until you are ready.

And now you can start making some gentle movements in your body.

So listen to it.

What does it need?

Maybe you just need to move your shoulders,

Your head.

Shake out your arms and legs.

Let go of any energy that's still stuck.

Place your hands on your heart and take a couple of deep breaths.

And then open your eyes.

And if you want,

You can now go and have a journal,

If you like.

Write down anything that came up,

Anything that surprised you.

And following on from this,

I'm going to create a EFT tapping script.

To support you in this as well,

To deal with the difficult emotions that came up.

As I said,

You can come back to this meditation as often as you wish when you just need a bit of support in letting go.

And you can use this in conjunction with the decluttering course as well.

Thank you for listening.

I wish you well.
