During one of my retreats I got the question,

How do I listen to my inner voice?

What is actually an inner voice?

And I started exploring with him intuition.

How do you feel,

What is intuition?

What is your mind chatting?

For me there are several elements in the answer,

But also several assumptions which might be not in your favor.

First of all you expect it to be a certain way.

Intuition,

Inner voice,

He expected it to be literally a voice inside of him,

Telling him something,

Something outside of himself.

I always was frustrated because I hoped to see things,

And that by seeing things I got more into contact with my intuition.

These are all assumptions that fits to something you already know.

For me my inner vision would be like expecting to look at a 3D movie with very clear images.

Well,

That never happened,

And I know it does happen to a lot of people,

But it's just not my preferred way,

It's not my way of knowing,

And probably other people don't have,

If you are visual,

Even not that clear images,

But it's a different way of looking at it,

Not like how you look at a TV screen.

It's a different way of showing up itself.

Same with the voice,

If you expect it to be a certain way,

It probably is not.

If you take away the expectations in that it should show up in a certain form,

But be open,

You might start exploring different fields and get more clarity of what intuition is for you.

Comparison with other people is also hampering you to get more clarity.

So,

I pointed out now a few things which are actually blocking you from opening up to your intuition,

To your inner guidance.

If we then go to how would you recognize it,

Then you can think of certain situations where you experienced this guidance.

He,

For instance,

Told me that if he opened a cabinet to get a cup or a plate,

He was kind of drawn to one particular item.

That is your intuition.

That is just a different way than you expect it maybe to be.

But that is your inner guiding system without you needing to know why it is.

Because that happens of course then as well,

Your mind is overruling it.

But he knew.

It's like when you enter a room where there just had been a fight.

You sense it.

It's opening up to different sensations.

I had one lady who had suddenly an idea popped in her mind and her chest started feeling warm.

She started feeling this glowing sensation in her heart.

And then she knew that this was intuition,

That she needed to take that serious.

So it can show up in so many different ways.

It's important to start,

If you want to explore,

Important to start recognizing what is your preferred way that your own system starts signaling.

Starts giving you the signs,

The direction to head to.

What is the difference with your mind?

For me,

One big difference is intuition and ideas and knowing and seeing,

Hearing,

Whatever it is.

Start feels expansive.

You can put whatever word on that which suits you.

I've heard love,

I've heard warm,

Calm,

Joy,

Excitement.

For me expansiveness.

Your mind,

If it is an idea from your mind,

Is very often based on fear.

It's contraction,

Scarcity,

Limits,

Not having enough.

This contractive feeling is much more present when you are coming from an idea that is in your mind.

And in your mind is often an ego pattern,

A safety,

An idea to keep you safe.

These are ways to distinguish coming from your inner knowing,

Your inner voice,

Or coming from your mind.

So that could be something for you to play around with,

To start observing.

If you have time today and you feel like doing it,

Feel if you are curious in this topic,

See whether you can remember an occasion where you tapped into your intuition,

Or where you actually felt like your intuition was guiding you.

Whether you felt something was off and you decided to step out of the situation,

Or you were excited about something and you felt like I'm going to do it.

Tap back into that feeling,

What is so unique about your way of perception and following your inner guidance.
