Our body parts hold our memories and traumas. When a body part starts hurting, sometimes it is calling our attention and/or wanting to tell us something. Sometimes, if a certain part of our body hurts more during a tough or stressful time, it is our body's way of letting us know that we are not alone. Our body communicates with us and if we listen properly, we can know what they are trying to tell us. This meditation opens up a communication path for us and our bodies, including our painful body part/s. We let that painful body part know that they are not alone and we give them our love and attention.

GIVING LOVE TO A PAINFUL BODY PART Sometimes we don't realize that a painful body part of ours is just trying to communicate with us,

It's trying to tell us something or trying to get our attention.

By giving love and attention to that painful body part,

We are able to listen to what's going on there.

Are they trying to tell us something?

We'll begin by getting into a comfortable position,

Whether sitting up or lying down,

As long as you're comfortable enough to be able to focus on that painful body part with no distractions.

Imagining that body part now,

And feeling its pain completely,

Wholeheartedly just giving your full attention to that part.

If you'd like to place one hand or both over that painful body part,

You may do so.

We can talk to that painful body part,

We can either talk to the body part directly or to the pain directly,

Whichever suits better for you.

And you may repeat after me,

Hello body part or pain,

How are you today?

Why are you here today?

What do you want me to know?

Certain parts of our body holds our pain so that we don't have to deal with it.

Maybe it's holding on to a memory,

A traumatic event,

Or maybe just an experience you had and you completely forgot about it.

Focusing back on the sensation of that painful body part,

What do you feel when you touch that body part or when you feel that pain in your mind?

Is that body part or pain trying to tell you something?

Is there a memory hidden behind it?

Talking to our body part or pain now,

We can say,

Hi pain,

Hi body part,

I'm sorry for what you're feeling.

I'm sorry that you have to go through this pain.

But you can give it to me now.

You can tell me what's wrong and I will do my best to help you.

I will do my best to love you.

Please,

You can put it down now.

We are in this together.

You are no longer alone.

I am here.

Give me your pain.

Let's put it down together.

Maybe when we were children,

We weren't able to do anything about certain painful parts of our body.

But now that we are adults,

We can do something about it.

We can give that pain some love,

Some attention,

Some peace.

I love you,

Body part.

I love you,

My pain.

Thank you for telling me what you need to tell me.

Thank you for telling me that I am not alone because you are here.

But you are not alone either.

I am here for you.

And I love you.

Whether or not your body part or pain told you what's wrong,

That's okay.

Your body part and pain appreciates you here.

Appreciates your love,

Your attention,

And even simply your company.

Thank you for doing this practice with me.

Your body thanks you.

Your pain thanks you.

And please,

Thank yourself.

Namaste.
