Welcome to this guided meditation to help you in letting go of regrets from your past.
Begin by taking a few slow deep breaths,
Breathing in through your nose and exhaling through your mouth,
Allowing your belly to be nice and relaxed,
Seeing your belly rise and fall,
Now picture yourself holding a shoebox.
Inside of this small box are some crumpled pieces of small paper.
The regrets of your past are written individually on each one of these.
Pull one of the papers out of the box and read what is written on it.
What do you see?
As you begin to remember the details of that regretful memory,
Ask yourself,
What have I learned from that experience?
Are there any ways that I have not fully accepted what happened?
Take out each paper one by one and read what is written on each one of them.
Each regret that you read is now knowledge and insight.
Once you have read each one and you acknowledge that it happened,
There is no need to keep reading each of the pieces of paper over and over again.
You are now informed and empowered to make a change,
To choose differently next time.
There is no need to put them back into the box.
Instead,
Place them in a pile next to the box.
Although you cannot change what has happened in your past,
You cannot change how you handle things or the words that you used or the actions that you took.
But you can do things differently going forward.
The first step towards living a regret-proof life is acknowledging the regrets from your past.
Recognizing what didn't work is helpful insight as you begin to shift your focus towards how you will do things differently today,
Tomorrow,
And even into your future.
So what will you do differently?
Picture yourself writing down on a fresh sheet of paper what you will do differently next time and be specific.
What actions or words or behaviors will you do differently next time that are more constructive than are done with love?
Notice what feels differently inside of you.
Perhaps you feel a sense of courage or compassion or confidence or even more love in your heart.
You see yourself giving thanks for each piece of regret,
Thankful for the insight,
Thankful for the growth,
And thankful for the opportunity to make a different change.
And then you toss it into the fire one by one.
You see them now burning in the fire.
They are gone now.
What remains is this present moment.
You are in a different place now.
The regrets are in the past and you have learned from those.
You are free now.
You are free to choose something different and you are free to move forward without regret.
Take a few slow deep breaths.
And when you're ready,
Come back into the room.
Sending you so much love and light.
