Love Practice & Poem

This is a practice that starts with being aware of the sensations of the body, allowing your mind to relax along the way. And as you settle, let a slight smile turn out the sides of your mouth. This awareness brings you closer to the power of love within. Enjoy.

Take the time to find a comfortable position,

Either seated or lying on your back.

If you're seated,

Let it be with a feeling of dignity,

Yet softness,

Relaxed but alert.

And if you're lying down,

Feel the support of what's below you and invite your whole body to relax.

Take the time to set up with whatever supports will help you to feel easeful.

Feel yourself settle.

Let a slight smile turn up the sides of your mouth to help bring relaxation of the face and a softening of the spirit.

If it feels good for you,

Let your eyes close or you might have them just half closed and unfocused.

Feel every part of where your body touches the ground.

What does it feel like to try to experience and feel your body from the inside?

Noticing where you feel relaxed and noticing where there may be tension.

Letting your body start to soften a little bit more.

Now I want you to bring your attention to your breath.

Feel the soft inhale and when the exhale comes,

Let it just fall away and be extended without forcing.

Just letting your exhale be a little bit longer than your inhale.

Let's try that for the next three to five breaths where the exhale is longer than the inhale,

Bringing a little more letting go with each breath.

Softly in and softly out.

Now let go of shaping your breath at all.

Just let it be whatever it wants and maybe all you're noticing is where the breath moves your body or where you feel sensation from the breath.

Maybe at the tip of the nose as the cool air comes in and the warm air goes out.

Perhaps feeling your chest and shoulders rise or your belly fill and recede.

Bringing your attention to the way the breath moves your body brings you to presence.

Bringing your attention and your body to the same place.

As I move to sharing this poem with you called Love is My Way,

I'll leave a space after each line for it to sink into your being.

You can silently repeat it or just sit with the echo of each line.

Seeing what comes up,

Noticing the feelings in your body.

As each wave of thought,

Feeling or sensation comes in,

Let them advance,

Crest and recede without interference.

Just as you let the natural breath move softly in and softly out.

Let this love meditation bring you home to your natural state of love,

A place of refuge and calm,

Spirit and passion.

Love is my way.

Love is my bowest.

My anchor.

My compass.

I am love.

Love is my way.

What is here now?

I see.

I love.

When I am adrift,

Love is my way.

Floating in bliss.

I feel my true bearings.

I am here now.

And love is my way.

Winds of change bring stillness and storm.

In the ebb and the flow,

Love is my way.

Awash with emotions.

I navigate life.

Open and honest.

Love is my way.

In simple joy and in the heat of heartache,

I weather the changings.

Love is my way.

And this is the seasoning of my soul.

Continue to sit in stillness and love for as long as you wish.

Sat,

Chit,

Ananda.

Existence,

Consciousness,

Bliss.
