Halloween Meditation This meditation is designed to let you indulge in a beautiful Halloween experience.
This practice may be a little different from what you usually do on Halloween,
But it's going to prepare you for the true spirit of Halloween by exploring what's within you and letting go of what doesn't serve you anymore.
Halloween's origin dates back about 2000 years and was an important day for the ancient Celts and marked the end of summer and the beginning of wintertime.
It is further believed that for the Celts this day was the beginning of a new year.
He celebrated it with a festival called Saurin.
It is said that for the Celts Saurin was a night where they believed that dead spirits and the living ones could encounter.
Nowadays we have developed many different rituals for Halloween and you might engage or did engage in one or another today.
In this meditation we want to pick up the original thought of Saurin and mindfully explore the transition of another cycle in our life.
When you're ready,
Start by taking a deep breath in and exhale slowly.
Try to find a comfortable position that you can remain in easily.
You may want to close your eyes or keep them open if you like.
I invite you to follow my guidance,
But I would like you to lead the way to your unique Halloween experience.
Take another deep breath in on the count of 4 and exhale on the count of 5.
Repeat this breath 3 times on your own.
I encourage you to take a few moments to reflect on what has been happening in this year for you.
Allow any memories to come up that were important for you this year.
It's okay to allow your mind to bring up events that might have felt difficult or challenging for you.
We all experience hardships and stressful times during our life and they are parts of our natural life cycle.
You might remember them well,
But they do not need to define you if you don't choose to let them.
If there have been any moments in this year that you had to struggle with,
Now is the time to allow yourself to let go of them.
I encourage you to choose a situation that felt challenging for you this year and that you would like to let go of.
You shouldn't feel overwhelmed by this exercise and you might want to choose an experience that felt difficult for you but didn't make you feel helpless.
Allow yourself to really feel what feels right for you in this precise moment to let go of.
Be kind with yourself and don't push yourself into anything that feels too uncomfortable or stressful for you.
You might have thoughts coming up accompanied by various emotions.
Fear,
Anger,
Sadness,
Frustration or disappointment can be entering the scene and make you want to relive the situation again that you chose to let go of.
If you are encountering very intense feelings or thoughts,
You can always go back to focus on your breathing.
Make sure that you inhale deeply and exhale slowly a few seconds longer.
If we lengthen our exhalation,
We support our nervous system to relax.
Our relaxed body facilitates a relaxed mind.
Let your inhalation infuse your body and mind with cleansing fresh air and allow your exhalation to sigh out any discomfort or stuck emotions you might hold onto.
Now,
When you are ready,
Let's begin.
I would like you to imagine this challenging situation or event of your life transforming into an object.
How would it look like if it would materialize?
Imagine its shapes,
Colors and texture.
Which size would it have?
Would it have sharp corners or would it be rather round?
Which colors would symbolize best how you feel about this object?
You might imagine your object in very intense colors or rather subtle ones.
Allow your imagination to go wild.
There is no right or wrong.
Simply permit yourself to picture your challenging event materializing in front of you,
Easy for you to grab and hold.
When you are happy with your creation,
I would like you to imagine yourself in front of a huge bonfire.
It's evening and the light of the fire is lighting up your surroundings.
You can think back to the ancient Celts who made bonfires to celebrate Samhain.
Maybe you'd even like to imagine them to be there and supporting you and letting go of the old and welcoming the new.
It's a beautiful and strong fire where you can see the wood burning powerfully.
You hear crackling and popping noises.
Encouraged by the soothing atmosphere,
You get closer to the fire and take a few moments to gaze into it,
Holding on to your object.
This object represents your situation or event that you'd like to let go of and which doesn't serve you anymore.
It is alright and safe for you to let go of it now.
Through the celebration and spirit of Samhain,
You feel motivated to deliver your object to the bonfire in front of you.
Picture yourself taking it and gracefully throwing it into the flames.
You take a few steps backwards and from the distance you can watch your object disappear slowly within the flames.
The smaller it becomes,
The more you can observe how the feelings attached to this object become less intense.
Feel free to hand anything else over to the flames that doesn't serve you anymore and that you would like to let go of.
Let the bonfire transform anything that bothers you into no thing.
I invite you to listen or repeat after me the following words.
I let go of what no longer serves me.
Anything that holds me back can now be released.
I am now ready to welcome a new cycle of peace and tranquility into my life.
You continue to watch the bonfire which is slowly getting smaller and less intense.
After a while the flames have transformed into embers.
It is first now that you notice a bright and clear night sky full of stars above you.
Your gaze wanders from the embers to the stars and you realize how by letting go of what no longer served you,
You transformed your reality into a bright and clear vision for the next cycle of your life.
Take a deep breath in and exhale slowly.
With your next inhalation or when you are ready,
I want you to slowly come back to the here and now.
You have now engaged in a practice inspired by the ancient Celts.
To embrace this new cycle of your life,
Start with giving thanks to yourself.
Give thanks to yourself for supporting and sustaining you whenever you face difficulties or struggles.
Give thanks to yourself for not giving up and being strong.
Give thanks that you allowed joy,
Peace and tranquility to flow into your life no matter what circumstances may surround you.
Know that you can be proud of everything you achieved and made it through so far this year.
You are a powerful being with great strength and resilience who welcomes this new cycle of life with gratitude and love.
Take one last deep breath in and sigh all air out of your mouth.
Slowly become aware of your sensations in your body again.
You might want to start to roll your head carefully from side to side or move your shoulders up and down slowly.
In your own time and whenever you feel ready,
You can start to open your eyes or find yourself back in the place where you are.
I wish you a happy Halloween or Sawi.
