So,

Welcome to this practice of Yoga Nidra.

Practice for cultivating ease in the middle of this moment.

So,

To prepare,

Allow yourself to get as comfortable as possible.

You can lay down,

Settle in,

And use any cushions that you want,

And a blanket over you to keep warm.

And as you tune in to the body and sensations,

You can take a deep breath in and then sigh the breath out.

And then you can do this for yourself two more times.

Now become aware of the sensations of the body as it settles and quiets,

Giving yourself permission to just be,

Just be,

Knowing that the practice of Yoga Nidra is the practice of doing nothing at all.

So there's nothing to do or change,

Nothing to prove or achieve.

And I invite you to know that you're fully welcome here,

You're fully welcome,

Just as you are,

In the center of this moment.

So perhaps you can invite yourself to welcome this moment just as it is.

So welcoming any sounds around you,

Welcoming any thoughts or emotions that might be present,

And welcoming the breath as it gently flows in and back out,

Just the breath flows through the places of the body.

The breath flowing,

The stillness settling,

The body welcome and invited to rest.

And beneath the body,

The earth holding you gently as the body grows still.

And in the stillness,

Greeting the space and the place behind the breastbone.

Having a moment to listen,

Listening for anything which might effortlessly arise,

Words or wishes,

Pictures or silence.

And whatever you do or don't find in the space of the heart,

Welcoming it and honoring it.

And then taking a journey through the body,

Imagining that each place that you visit softens,

As it softens becoming spacious,

Welcoming you to rest in the center.

So resting in the place between the center of the eyebrows,

Forehead softening.

Resting in the center of the spacious place in the middle of the eyebrows.

And then resting in the space at the base of the neck,

Muscles releasing,

Letting go.

The space at the center of the right shoulder,

Everything letting go,

Softening.

The right elbow,

The right wrist,

The right thumb,

Index finger,

Middle finger,

Ring finger and the pinky.

Resting in the space at the center of the wrist,

Softening.

Right elbow,

Shoulder and then resting back into the space at the base of the neck.

And from this place moving with ease to the space at the center of the left shoulder,

Whole shoulder releasing.

Left elbow,

Left wrist,

The left thumb,

Index finger,

Middle finger,

Ring finger and the pinky.

Resting in the space at the center of the left wrist,

Releasing all tension,

The left elbow,

Shoulder and all the way back to the space and the place at the base of the neck.

And now the center of the space behind the breastbone.

Resting here,

The whole area softening and releasing in the most pleasant of ways.

The left side of the chest,

The center of the breastbone,

The right side of the chest,

Experiencing space and rest in the whole chest,

Whole chest softening.

Resting to the navel,

Belly releasing.

Resting in the center of the ball of the pelvis,

Whole pelvis softening.

The right hip,

The right knee,

The right ankle,

The right big toe,

Second,

Third,

Fourth and fifth.

Resting in the space in the center of the right ankle,

The right knee,

The right hip softening,

And then surrounded by space in the ball of the pelvis.

From the center of the pelvis to the left hip,

The left knee,

The left ankle,

Left big toe,

Second,

Third,

Fourth,

And fifth.

Resting in the space in the center of the left ankle,

The left knee,

The left hip,

The pubic bone,

The navel,

The breastbone,

The base of the neck.

And coming to be still in the space,

In the place between the eyebrows,

Completely at ease,

Surrounded by stillness and space.

And then feeling the whole body from head to toe.

Including the arms and the fingers as the bones settle into the back of the body.

Bones settling into the back of the body,

Heavy and still.

Bones heavy and still.

And then feeling the movement of the surface of the body as the breath flows in and out.

Every cell and organ,

Bloodstream and lymph moving,

Renewing,

Restoring.

And what would it be like to feel the heavy stillness of the bones resting and the vibrant moving of the life of the body at the same time?

Stillness and movement,

Movement and stillness.

So resting now in the center of your being,

Simply resting in the center of your being,

Where being is more than enough.

Feeling the contact of the body with the ground.

The breath as it blows in and out,

Like a gentle breeze.

Noticing how you are still,

But the breath flows in and out,

Effortlessly.

And as each breath flows out,

You might imagine,

Feel,

How any last bit of tension flows away.

Tension flowing away,

The whole body softening as thoughts and doing worries melt away.

They drain away,

Leaving nothing but ease,

Flooding the body in each cell.

And returning now to the center of the space behind the breastbone.

So relaxing still,

Listening for whatever wants to be heard and known.

Welcoming whatever you find and being welcome in this space,

Just as you are.

As the practice of Yoga Nidra moves to an end,

You might begin to become aware of the back of the body as it rests in this place.

Feeling the contact points between the body and the ground,

Or the surface upon which you are,

And taking a deeper breath in.

And as you do,

Becoming aware of sounds around you,

Perhaps of light behind your eyelids.

And remembering the shape of the room you are in.

Remembering the shape of the room you are in and breathing in.

And as you breathe in,

Welcoming the breath,

Maybe wiggling the toes and the fingers.

And then maybe it feels nice to stretch the arms overhead as if you were waking up,

Waking up feeling freedom and ease in your very being.

So take your time to come back.

Welcome back to this room.

As the practice of Yoga Nidra has come to an end,

Welcome back.

Take your time.

You can decide whether to keep laying here,

Maybe rolling over onto the side.

And when you're ready,

Moving with ease into the rest of your day.

Thank you for listening.
