This Yoga Nidra is intended to facilitate a sense of inner spaciousness, ease, and rest. The lightness of being in the middle of whatever circumstances you find yourself in. It contains breath awareness and visualisation of breath. It also contains nature, water, and floating themed visualisations
Transcript
So welcome to this yoga nidra.
As you begin,
Go ahead and do whatever you need to do to get as comfortable as possible.
Looking to send any signs possible to your body and your mind that it's okay for just a little while to let go and release.
And as you settle in,
Aware of any sounds in the environment around you or perhaps from this recording in the environment around me and seeing if they can all be held in a open,
Kind awareness.
As if awareness can be a large enough,
Kind enough container for anything which might arise or dissolve within it over the course of this yoga nidra.
And as you vow to welcome kindly whatever arises and whatever dissolves,
Welcoming the sensations of body as it rests against the surface upon which you are.
As it rests and as it's held by the surface upon which you are.
Noticing what that's like to consciously allow yourself to be held.
And perhaps in being held,
There is a certain lightness that can arise.
In being held in a large welcoming space,
A lightness can arise.
So welcome to yourself.
Welcome to this yoga nidra.
Welcome to this moment.
Just as you are.
Just as you are.
With whatever you bring into this moment,
With whatever circumstances,
With whatever thoughts,
With whatever emotions,
With whatever comfort or discomfort,
You are welcome.
There's nothing you need to do,
Nothing you need to change in yourself or around you for everything to be okay.
You are enough as you are.
You are enough and you are welcome.
And there's no one to please,
Nothing to do.
And then tuning into the breath as it flows in and as it flows out.
Feeling the rise of the belly perhaps as the breath moves in and as the breath moves out.
Each in-breath creating a lightness of being and each out-breath allowing the whole body to settle,
To release,
To let go.
You might imagine the breath as a soft,
Beautiful light traveling up and down the spine.
So that with the in-breath,
The light travels from tailbone to crown of head and with the out-breath,
It travels back down the length of the spine.
Each breath a gentle wave,
A gentle gliding as a beautiful light travels up and back down allowing the pace to gently slow to a comfortable ease-filled pace and allowing the breath to continue to travel even as you begin to see the body as a landscape stretched out in front of you.
Looking out over the landscape of the body as if standing on the top of a mountain,
Horizon stretching out into the distance,
In a clear blue sky stretching out in front of you and then traveling across the landscape of the body to the right hand thumb.
Looking out across the hand over at the index finger traveling down the valley between thumb and index finger over to middle finger to ring finger to pinky across the back of the hand and over the palm of the hand the wrist the forearm the crease of the elbow the upper arm the shoulder over the shoulder down the armpit to the side of the body over each rib in the valleys in between traveling down to the waist and the hip and then down the right leg over the knee across the shin down to the ankle the top of the foot and all five toes big toe second third fourth and fifth finding yourself perched on the little toe of the right foot traveling across the landscape to the left hand thumb looking across the left hand over to the index finger middle finger ring finger and the pinky traveling across back of hand and to the palm of the hand the wrist forearm crease of the elbow upper arm shoulder over the shoulder and down into the armpit and across each rib with the valleys in between down the side of the body to the left hip left upper leg over the knee down the shin cross the ankle and the top of the foot to the big toe second toe third fourth and fifth perched on the pinky looking across the landscape then traveling aware of the sole of the right foot and the sole of the left foot aware of the back of the right leg and the back of the left leg the buttocks the lower back the middle back the upper back both shoulder blades the neck and the back of the head whole landscape of the body resting resting in the earth the crown of the head and up to the forehead looking out across the expanse of the body the landscape of the body from the forehead to the right eyebrow and the left eyebrow and the space in between the bridge of the nose and the right eye the left eye all the muscles around the eyes the left cheek and the right cheek the right ear and the left ear the nose in between the upper lip and the lower lip and the chin down the neck the front of the chest the right side of the chest and the left side of the chest the whole chest traveling down the belly the pelvis looking out across the body as it stretches out in all directions you'll bear of a beautiful light traveling from crown of head to base of spine a slow wave traveling up and down the landscape of the body noticing what that's like and holding the whole body in awareness from crown of head to tips of toes both arms and fingertips the whole body resting deeply held by the earth as the breath flows easefully in and out like a gentle rippling splashing wave upon which you could float recalling now sensations of floating easefully peacefully safely perhaps in a cool body of water the sun shining the lightness of being floating no effort no effort finding yourself on the shore resting on warm earth feeling stable secure and holding both sensations of floating and lightness and stable and secure holding both sensations in awareness and noticing what that's like how that is to experience stability and lightness of being feeling the body lying here and the contact with the ground holding all this in awareness and experiencing self as an expanding field of awareness in which every sensation can arise and dissolve every thought can arise and dissolve even experiences can arise and dissolve in the expanding field of awareness that you are resting now as awareness resting in contact with ease of being an expansive self in which everything can arise and dissolve with ease welcome home to yourself to yourself welcome home to yourself knowing that here there is space and strength for whatever might arise in life in this kind awareness that is yourself so becoming aware again of the breath the breath still flowing and preparing to return to a more everyday state of consciousness feeling the contact with body and ground and beginning to breathe a little bit deeper a little bit fuller until perhaps the breath reaches down to fingers and toes perhaps inviting movement into fingers and toes becoming aware again of the space around you sounds around you the room in which you are preparing to come back and knowing that this has been the practice of yoga nidra as you come back you might roll over onto one side you might yawn or stretch or wiggle or do whatever you need to do to come back carrying this state of awareness expansive,
