Welcome to your herbal infusion meditation.

I am Daniela Rey from Growing Up Rooted.

We offer education on gardening and herbalism as well as small batch plant medicine that we make here in our home for you.

We will be using an herbal infusion to connect with all of our senses.

So before we begin,

Make sure you have a cup of your choice beside you.

Just to clarify,

We call herbal infusions to herbs that we steep overnight in hot water.

The difference between a cup of tea and an infusion is that a cup of tea is probably only going to steep for about 15 minutes instead of overnight.

An infusion allows more plant medicine and nourishment to seep into the water.

Either tea or infusion will be great for this meditation,

So feel free to pause if you need to get your cup ready.

Let's start by finding some space to ground in this moment.

Find a comfortable place to sit and start noticing your body.

Is there any stress on your back?

Perhaps your shoulders are up high and they need to be relaxed down.

Close your eyes.

Let's take a second to appreciate the beauty and simplicity of this moment with nothing but your breath,

Your senses and your herbal infusion beside you.

Can you feel the ground under your feet?

And if your feet are not touching the ground,

Perhaps your hands on your lap?

Let that connection be the main point of attention.

How does it feel under your feet or under your palms?

Does it feel warm or cold?

Soft or hard?

Wet or dry?

Imagine that connection rooting you down to the ground.

Imagine you're a plant and roots are growing down into the earth and holding you comfortably in place.

Imagine you're tightly rooted yet flexible and able to move with the wind.

Imagine the sun hitting your face and the wind blowing your leaves.

Can you imagine other plants flowing around you and how your roots connect and communicate with theirs?

Imagine your human body inhabiting that body of this plant and allow this lowness of being a plant to become a safe space for you today.

There is nowhere to go,

Nothing to do but take in the rays of sun and sway from side to side.

You are free,

You are strong,

You are flexible,

You are deeply rooted and you are connected through the soil and the fungi and the wind to every other living organism around you.

You are never alone.

Take a deep breath in,

Hold it for four seconds and slowly release it out into the world.

Let's do that again in silence.

Okay,

It's time to take your infusion in your hands if you didn't have it already.

Open your eyes to hold your cup with both hands and then close them again.

Let's give thanks to the spirit of these herbs for being here with us.

Thank you beautiful healing plants.

Thank you for your wisdom and deep nourishment.

Today I'm drinking a digestive blend with lemongrass,

Chamomile and fennel seeds.

What are you drinking?

As you hold your infusion in your hands,

Let's take a moment to appreciate the sensation.

Take a deep breath and feel your cup in your hands.

Is your cup warm or cold?

What is the texture?

I like to drink my infusions at room temperature and today that feels a bit cool.

Bring your cup close to your nose and smell it.

As you inhale the aroma,

Allow yourself to feel the comfort of the herbs as they fill your lungs.

Imagine the herbs growing in the fields,

Basking in the sun and being nurtured by the earth.

Take a moment to appreciate the hard work and dedication of the farmers who grew these herbs.

Smell your cup again.

What's the aroma?

What's the aroma?

Is it gentle or strong?

Is it earthy,

Flowery,

Fruity?

When you smell it,

How does it feel in your body?

Imagine those herbs being watered,

Picked,

Dried and packaged.

And appreciate the effort that went into every step of the process until they reached your hands.

Now let's take our first sip and really appreciate the taste and the texture of this drink.

How does your body respond to these herbs?

Feel the temperature of the infusion as you swallow.

Is it calming and soothing or is it stimulating?

Is it warming you up or cooling you down?

This is the language of plants.

This is how different plants and different blends can support us depending on our needs in each moment.

Now give yourself the space to drink as much as you want.

Do you want to drink in big gulps or gentle sips?

Drink to feel satisfied and stop when your body tells you you've had enough.

Take a deep breath,

Hold it for four and release.

Let's do that again in silence and as you exhale release any tension or stress that you may be holding still.

Think about the incredible balance of life and nature,

How it makes this immense variety of plants possible and available to us.

Appreciate the knowledge that our ancestors have passed along through generations,

How we understand the properties and benefits of these plants and how they are able to support healing in our bodies,

Our mind and our emotions.

Take another deep breath in,

Hold it for four and slowly release.

Let's do that one last time.

Now place your cup of tea down,

Bring your palms together and rub them to help your body come back to the space and time.

And when you're ready,

If you haven't done so yet,

Open your eyes.

Allow the calm and wisdom of this moment to guide you today,

Sending you so much love wherever you are.
