Good morning and welcome to this morning gratitude meditation.
My name is Graham Nichols and it's my pleasure to guide you through this meditation this morning.
Before we get started find yourself somewhere nice and comfortable to sit or lay.
Somewhere that your back is supported somewhere that you are completely balanced.
Somewhere that you can close your eyes settle into breathing and just be comfortable.
Somewhere that you know you can just be.
And as you do that start to focus in on your breath.
For the breath is where we start with every meditation.
For the breath gives us life.
The breath gives us peace.
The breath gives us love,
Joy,
Gratitude and fulfilment.
So start to settle in to a nice deep breathing rhythm.
Slightly deeper than you'd normally breathe but not so deep as to be forced.
Just something nice and deep that you can focus on,
That you can concentrate on,
That you can place all of your attention in.
Just simply breathing in and breathing out.
And if it helps with concentration as you breathe in you can simply say to yourself breathing in.
And as you breathe out you can simply say to yourself breathing out.
And just for a moment now concentrate,
Focus on the breath.
If your attention wanders that's okay,
That's perfectly natural.
Just catch yourself and bring those thoughts back to your breath.
Just concentrating on your breath.
In this life we have so much to be grateful for.
And when we can be grateful for the smallest of things,
Gratitude for the bigger things comes so much easier.
For a start to begin with be grateful that you woke up this morning.
Be grateful for your night's sleep and that you're awake this morning to be here doing this meditation now.
You can be grateful for the air you breathe in.
You can be grateful for the body you have that allows you to function.
You can be grateful for the heart that pumps the blood around the body that fills your body,
Mind,
Soul and spirit with love,
With joy and of course with gratitude.
Just for a moment say thank you to your body.
Say thank you to your heart.
Say thank you for the joy of being alive for today.
Say thank you and be grateful for another day on this amazing planet we call Earth.
Now allow your attention to wander to something else that you are grateful for in this world.
It may be a person,
It may be a job,
It may be something that you own or hold dear.
Whatever it is be grateful for it right now.
Place all of your attention on whatever it is and feel the gratitude pour from your heart and completely surround whatever it is you're grateful for right now.
Place all of your attention and all of your gratitude in this one area and say thank you for having this in your life.
And now move on to something else that you are entirely grateful for right now.
Something else that you have huge amounts of gratitude for,
For being in your life.
Again it can be a person,
A thing,
Something you do or just this moment,
This moment in time to be here and be grateful.
Whatever it is place all of your attention on it.
Focus all of your energy into it and allow gratitude to pour from your heart,
Your mind,
Your body and soul and completely envelop whatever it is you're grateful for right now.
Be grateful,
Say thank you to whatever it is and for whatever it is.
And now find a third thing,
Something else or someone else that you can be grateful for right now.
Shift all of your attention into that area of gratitude.
See,
Hear and feel that thing,
Whatever it may be or whoever it may be and give thanks for that being part of your life.
Allow the gratitude to pour from your heart,
From your mind,
Body,
Soul and spirit.
Allow it to completely fill up this area of gratitude for you.
Feel that gratitude build from within your heart and envelop your body as it reaches out and surrounds that which you are so grateful for.
Say thank you for whatever this may be,
Say thank you for having part in your life,
For it being part of your life as you allow gratitude to overflow it and as you allow gratitude to overflow yourself.
And now bring yourself back to focusing on your breath and be grateful again for the smallest of things.
Be grateful for the air you breathe,
For waking this morning,
For being right here right now.
Be grateful for the smallest of things so you can be grateful for every other thing.
And as this meditation comes to an end and you slowly start to open your eyes,
You carry that gratitude with you throughout the day.
And everything you notice,
The small to the medium sized to the biggest of things you can be grateful for as you pass through this day.
Thank you with gratitude for being part of this meditation today.
I will see you soon.
Goodbye for now.
