Let's begin by choosing a comfortable,
Quiet place to sit.
You can sit either cross-legged on the floor or on a chair.
You can also do this lying down if you prefer to or need to.
If you are sitting,
It is beneficial to keep the spine erect and self-supporting.
The body should be relaxed and balanced.
If you are comfortable doing so,
Close your eyes and slowly inhale,
Taking a full,
Deep breath and hold it for just a moment,
And then release your breath like dropping a weight.
Now that you're breathing,
Relax into an effortless rhythm.
For a moment,
Don't do anything or think anything in particular.
Just leisurely observe what is happening as you are simply present within your mind.
There are likely all manner of thoughts,
Feelings,
And sensations going on,
As well as a steady internal dialogue.
Just let it all be just as it is.
Now,
Simply be aware of your thoughts,
Observing them without engaging with them.
Watch them arising seemingly from nowhere,
Every one of these thoughts vying for your attention.
By stepping back in your mind and observing your thoughts,
You are moving closer to and into your higher self,
Your higher awareness.
Gradually move your focus to your feelings.
There are layers and layers of feelings.
Observe them rising up and then fading back into oblivion.
Again by observing and taking the role of the witness,
You are releasing yourself from their power.
You are detaching from thoughts and feelings and moving into the light of your own higher awareness.
Now begin to observe all of the sensory experiences you are having.
Feel the connection of your body with the earth,
With the floor or the chair.
Feel the temperature on your skin and notice any smells in the air.
Just be aware of all the sensations you are experiencing and let them be.
Notice any internal dialogue going on in your mind.
Observe the voice that carries on the constant conversation in your mind.
All this is often who we think we are,
The voice in our head,
Our thoughts,
Feelings and sense experiences.
But if that is who you are,
Who is it that has been watching all of this?
The observer,
The witness,
The awareness before your thoughts.
This is where your true and higher self begins.
Let go of all effort and just be present with whatever is at this moment.
Even while your thoughts,
Feelings and senses are active,
There is a deeper self that is just being.
Let go and relax into just being.
Nothing to do,
Nowhere to go.
Nothing to change or fix.
Nothing you need.
No desire to pursue.
Just being.
The you that is just being is pure awareness,
Joy and love.
You are complete and whole,
Filled,
Fulfilled and the source of your own deep abiding peace and joy.
Just be and allow everything to be exactly as it is in this moment.
Now linger for a moment in the peace of just being.
Now as you begin to return to the surface of your life and to the physical world,
Continue just being,
Even as life's thoughts are re-emerging and capturing your attention.
Even during the coming activities,
Try to remember that deeper place where you already are,
Everything that you are seeking.
Revisit your awareness of that place that is all the joy and peace you desire and is also who you truly are,
Forever and always.
Somewhere inside you,
You are always just being.
And you can bring that joyful wholeness of being into the everyday living of your life.
