Yes,
Yes.
Do you remember the story of a peacock?
Brandy?
Mm-hmm.
You know,
A peacock came to a person's house and that person gave a little opium to the peacock.
So at the same time he was present the next day also.
So it means if you are getting something,
If you are intoxicated,
Oh,
This is the wisdom,
I will bring an hand to the suffering.
So if you attend the session like a peacock,
I will get something more.
I will be intoxicated with that peace and happiness.
That will make you a seeker.
So you see that in the second chapter of the Gita,
We are studying the basic principle of Sankhya Yoga.
It is not a style of yoga that we have created.
You can create your own style,
But they are schools of yoga.
But all yoga is one.
So we also understood,
I think I talked about it,
Sankhya.
So there is a sutra in,
Yeah,
Even in the first chapter of Patanjali,
Which says,
Vivek khyati viplava hanupayo.
When there is a highest level of discernment,
That what Whitney is talking about,
When that discernment settles in my intellect,
All the sufferings come to an end,
Viplava hanupayo.
That is the method of yoga.
Remember this.
So now see the word khyati,
Khyya.
So it's a suffix,
Sankhya.
Samh,
Sankhya means some,
Some means equal,
Balanced,
And khyati means discernment,
Knowledge,
Right knowledge.
So when we live into that right knowledge,
That is what the process of Sankhya yoga.
You may say it is one of the highest,
Or you can say it is the highest.
How come it is the highest?
That I can discern in my intellect here and now,
And I can get rid of the suffering.
Yoga makes a big claim.
What is that big claim?
It brings an end to the suffering,
And you awaken to permanent peace and happiness.
Then the question comes,
Why not everyone is seeking yoga?
Why not everyone?
Everyone should seek yoga.
Should practice yoga.
So there comes,
I refer that,
There comes majority of the people say,
I know what is to be done,
How it is to be done,
But I'm not inclined to do it.
I don't feel like doing it.
So when you don't feel like doing it,
You cannot practice yoga.
So from where it comes from the intellect.
So even in the midst of suffering,
Problem,
Any kind of problem,
Your intellect is intact.
It is seeking a solution.
It is seeking a solution.
Then only you say,
Yes,
I have a problem.
I want a solution.
Can you offer me a solution?
Can you show me the way how to get rid of it?
So once you have that desire in your mind,
Then the yoga begins,
Including the Sanke Yoga.
You are ready to think.
And the same thing,
Thoughts,
You are ready to think in a right manner.
You may be a genius and extremely intelligent and wealthy in the material world,
But you lack this self-awareness.
So those people who lack this awareness,
They cannot practice yoga.
They are not inclined to yoga.
Do you understand?
It is the state of your awareness.
That is why not everyone is inclined to yoga to evolve themselves.
But now we are a seeker.
We are listening.
We are learning.
So the Master says,
From 16th verse number 16 to 25,
Eight or nine verses,
Where we understand what exactly is Sanke Yoga.
But one thing to understand,
If you understand clearly the second chapter,
The rest 16 chapters are extension.
What is extension?
You have some doubts.
Those doubts are removed in different chapters.
But if you understand clearly,
How you understand clearly?
Shravanam,
Listening and learning,
Listening from the teacher,
Shravanam,
That is very important.
Second is contemplation and reflection.
Just after one hour,
You don't throw that your notebook away and it goes away from your life.
You should contemplate and reflect.
It is about your life.
The more you know yourself,
You can know others easily.
That is the principle.
The more I know myself,
My mind,
My personality,
The greater the understanding I have for others,
Then I will appreciate.
So when we use the term Sanke Yoga,
A couple of things should be known.
There is a master by the name Kapila.
Kapila,
Who discovered this system,
This school of yoga known as Sanke Yoga.
Sanke Sutra,
The way Yog Sutra is there,
So there is a Sanke Sutra is written.
So you see the commonality in the teachings of the great masters,
Even the Buddha,
Who lived in 500 BC,
Means 2500 years ago from now,
And the Kapila lived more than 3000 years,
4000 years from now.
Buddha said,
Kapila,
Know what mindfulness is.
So you see the entire tradition,
That is what the traditional wisdom is.
Second part to understand the Patanjali Yoga Sutra has also included many principles of Sanke Yoga.
Sanke Yoga.
All are parts of the Eastern wisdom.
So there is no question of how do you pronounce plagiarism or plagiarism.
So there is no,
Yes,
Plague,
Plagiarism,
Plagiarism.
So there is no plagiarism.
Many of the verses in the plagiarism,
Ger,
Ger,
Plagiarism.
So that is not the case in our tradition,
Because you know these principles are not discovered by a single author.
There is no author,
It is revealed knowledge,
So I can take a reference.
So understood that.
You see that there are six organs of Indian philosophy.
Sankhya and you.
One second for one second,
Girish.
Recently in America,
There have been a couple of cases where some of the American yogis who have created their own system,
Wrong system.
Get them copyrighted and they were denied.
Yeah,
They have to be denied.
So you see,
Yeah,
That's a very good information,
Yeah.
Right knowledge.
Bikram tried to get his system copyrighted and it was.
Yeah,
Yeah,
Yeah,
You're right,
Yeah.
So now coming directly to,
So we will talk in later that six organs of Indian philosophy,
Sankhya and yoga,
Sutra are coupled together.
Then there is a two more system,
Nai and Vashashik.
And then Mimansa and Uttarmimansa.
But ultimately everyone talks of the same principles.
So now come to the understanding of the,
From verse number 16 to 25.
It is understanding the soul of yoga.
Soul of yoga.
Yes,
Yes,
Yes,
Yes.
So first verse number,
What is the verse number 16?
So understand first I will put it and then we will put verse number 16 chapter two.
What it says.
No asatah vidyate bhabha hu.
No abhava vidyate satah.
Obhayo api drashtaha.
Antah tu anayo taktva darushibhi.
Simple translation.
First simple translation.
That which really is cannot go out of existence.
That which exists,
That which is existence,
That which is truth,
That is never changing reality,
That will never die.
Clear?
Na asatuh vidyate bhabhu,
Nabhavu vidyate satah.
And just as that which is non-existent cannot come into being,
The end of this opposition of is and is not has been perceived by the spheres of essential truth.
So you see the Krishna,
The humility of the Krishna.
Krishna is the originator of yoga.
It is sad,
But still he has a humility.
He says many masters say this is what is the real truth and the principle.
What is the truth?
Understand.
Have you ever experienced anger,
Brandy?
Okay,
Yes.
Now you are angry?
No.
So anger was there,
Now it is not there.
So it means anger is non-existent.
I should keep in mind one example.
Did you get it?
So when you say,
"'Kristina,
I'm anxious,
' but now you are not anxious.
" It means anything that is changing its shape,
Its form,
Its color,
Its attitude,
Is non-existence.
That is the definition of a non-existence.
Do you still have a baby body?
No,
Baby body died,
Replaced by child body.
Child body died,
Replaced by youth.
And that youth body is replaced by this beard body.
It is constantly changing.
So it is non-existence.
This is not me.
What a beautiful understanding.
I should live with that.
Naasato vidyate bhavo,
Na bhavo vidyate satakha.
And Krishna says with a humility,
That has been told,
Has been perceived,
Has been understood,
Has been discovered.
Not by one,
By hundreds of masters in our tradition.
He is guiding his disciple.
So he's saying,
You know,
He says,
"'Don't believe me.
It has been told by hundreds of the masters.
'" You see that?
See the humility,
The beauty of the teaching.
So what is the masses here?
Mass is here.
When you live with the intellect 24 by seven,
You wake up in the morning,
You use your intellect.
Your mind says,
I have to go to the restroom.
You don't land up in the kitchen.
That is the uses of intellect.
So I have to use my intellect.
Anxiety,
It is today is there.
Yesterday it was no.
Tomorrow it will not be.
It is not me.
I should put this thought in the intellect to raise my awareness and alertness.
What is the meaning?
Anxiety,
Stress,
Duality,
Conflict,
Suffering are not my essential nature.
What is my essential nature?
Is the existence that cannot be undone.
What cannot be undone?
My peace,
My happiness,
My love,
My wisdom can never be undone.
Look at it.
See that is the masses.
So why you are suffering?
Come on.
It's a totally a different way that how you can guide others.
That's another part of the learning.
So I'm not picking up.
We will pick up that slowly.
So we should hold on to the real self.
We should hold on what is permanent.
We should hold on what is existence.
Clear?
So first thing,
The first principle.
The Sanghi Yoga and that is applicable to all the other systems.
So loud now let us pick up the worst number 60,
It's not 17.
What is the sex worst number 17?
So keep your intellect and maintain your awareness that first verse and now the second verse in this,
That is the seventh verse,
17th verse.
What is the 17th verse says?
Know that to be imperishable by which all this is extended.
Who can slay the immortal spirit?
So here spirit you can see the real self.
So it means that real self is unchanging identity.
I have been talking,
It is full of permanent peace and happiness.
That cannot be undone.
We have an experience.
How we have an experience?
One experience I told you,
The child body has died,
Replaced by youth body.
Youth body has died,
Replaced by the old body.
The body is constantly changing.
Body is not me.
It means there is something inside which is ever present.
It was present when I was baby.
It was present when I was child.
It was present when I was a adult and many people are young.
So it is still present when I'm young.
So it means that is imperishable.
Imperishable.
So we have to understand this verse from the,
I would say from the Upanishad.
Upanishad perhaps?
Dharanyaku Upanishad,
But understand the three words.
Mukhyatma,
Gaunatma,
And Mityatma.
Ah,
You will find these three words.
So that will make you understand this verse clearly.
I'm just,
Let me put it.
So Mukhyatma,
What is Muk?
So prefix,
Mukhyatma,
Atma means self,
The chief self,
The real self.
So we work,
Think and live at three levels.
You will not find in the explanations of the modern authors because they have to,
They cannot link the teachings of the Upanishads with the Gita.
Gita is also one group of Upanishads,
Summary.
So what it says,
Real self.
What is real self?
Real self is all pervading,
Consciousness,
Unchanging,
All knowing.
So why I suffer?
Because of Mityatma.
What is Mitya?
Mitya is false and Atma is self.
So when I live in the false self,
When I live as a false self,
Then I have to suffer no matter what you do.
So what is the,
How we understand the Mityatma?
For all practical purposes,
I claim I am the body and the body is me.
So I have a strong identification with the body.
Patanjali says that is the fifth klesha,
Abhinivesha.
How this strong identification results into attachment and detachment.
Attachment and detachment causes egoism and ego,
When we live in that ego,
It is avidya,
Ignorance.
And then I have to live in suffering.
There is no option.
There is no choice.
As long as I claim,
I consider,
I am the body.
Third is Gaunatma.
So what happens when I am the body?
I am the body.
Then you are brandy,
You have a different body.
I am different from you.
Then I give a label.
What label?
Brother,
Sister,
Honey,
Wife,
Husband,
My car,
Et cetera,
Et cetera.
So when I start living in these labels,
After all,
I am your wife,
How dare you talk to another beautiful girl?
Because she is beautiful.
That's why I'm talking.
So,
So,
So,
But you know,
The husband,
They are not answered that way.
Kate says,
No,
Don't say this,
Don't teach wrong thing.
You see that?
So then the wife says,
I will also talk to handsome people.
And then the problem comes.
So you see,
You understand the three levels.
We live at the three levels.
As long as you live at the last two levels,
The false self and the secondary self,
You are bound to suffer.
You are bound to suffer.
What exactly is the problem?
The problem is the delusion in the intellect.
Remove that delusion,
Depression is gone,
You are happy,
I'm living with my real self.
Simple.
Do you need to practice anything?
No.
But what practice you need to do?
Discernment and dispersion.
Ask Lara to listen to this,
So that she will understand what is dispersion.
She will stick to passion and dispersion.
So you see that?
Mukhyatma.
So the real self,
False self and the secondary self.
Secondary self is caused by the false self.
How?
I see the water in the mirage and I start running after the water in the mirage.
That is the secondary self.
You see that you drop that delusion of being the secondary self and the false self.
And now your honey is saying how crazy you are.
So what will you say?
Thank you very much.
I'm more crazy than you think.
You see,
Your attitude changes.
Your attitude changes.
And it is not the end.
Then you say,
Okay honey,
Can you sit with a cup of tea and coffee,
Let us talk and understand what caused the problem.
We will understand it.
And I will follow you the way you say,
I'm still in the wisdom,
In the Sankhya buddhi,
You know,
In the Sankhya intellect,
You see.
So you have not done meditation.
You are already in the state of meditation.
You are living with the real self.
You will not find in any book.
That is why you are learning and listening from me,
John.
This is experiential learning.
So now see,
We have picked up 16th,
17th.
Now pick up the 18th verse.
What is the 18th verse?
18th verse is also very,
Very interesting.
And it gives deeper insight.
So what insight it gives,
Let me put it and then you will have.
So now the master,
A master after teaching these two verses,
Did you understand?
So my disciple seeker says,
Yes.
Then he comes to the 18th verse.
What is the 18th verse?
He is stressing again,
The same principle in a different way.
Finite bodies have an end,
But that which possess and uses the body is infinite in a limitable,
Eternal,
Indestructible.
Therefore,
Fight this anxiety,
Fight this suffering,
Get out of it.
Ha,
Antavanta ha,
Imede ha,
Nityasya ha,
Uktah asari rinah ha,
Anashina ha,
Aprami asya tasmad yudhasva bharata.
What he is saying.
You see,
Pay attention.
Now he's explaining the nature of the real self.
What is the nature of the real self?
It is infinite.
In Upanishad we say,
What is real self?
Real self is satyam jnanam anantam brahma.
That real self is the truth,
Infinity and full of joy.
I am the body,
Body has a pain,
I am suffering.
I am the real self,
Body has a pain.
I have a discernment and dispassion,
John.
So pain is there,
But the suffering is not there.
So let me take care of the pain in a best possible manner.
Let me use the knowledge of the medical science.
Why to worry?
Take care of the pain,
But there is no suffering.
Did you understand?
There are two things.
There is a pain,
There is a suffering.
Suffering lives in the mind.
So what this master is saying,
Master is explaining,
Know the nature of the real self.
First nature is infinite,
Second nature unlimited,
Third eternal,
Fourth indestructible.
It cannot be destroyed.
It cannot be destroyed.
Do you die in the end?
Do you die in deep sleep?
You don't know where you are or which bed you are.
Do you know yourself in deep sleep?
No.
So if you don't know,
It means you cannot be the body and the mind.
The body and the mind more or less are absent in the sleep,
But the sleep is not the death.
Why it is not the death?
Because you are present there.
You do not know,
But you are present.
That's why you wake up.
The dead body cannot wake up.
Are you understanding?
Are you getting it?
That is the masses.
So what is the masses master is giving?
Leave this,
What is the vision of your life?
Do you want to follow the right knowledge?
Reality,
Or you want to follow the false knowledge?
What is the meaning of the following the right knowledge?
Always living in blame,
Complain,
Reaction.
You blame,
Complain,
The society,
Your honey,
Everyone in the world.
Either you live into that state or you live in peace and happiness with your real self.
Choice is yours.
From here and now,
What is the vision of your life?
Do you want to move from the delusion to dispassion or delusion to division,
To conflict,
To problems?
So what is the masses?
Another masses comes from adhyatma upanishad.
That's a beauty in the very beginning,
The master says,
Understand what is the real self?
It is everywhere.
Is it in the water?
Yes,
It is in the water,
But not the water.
It is in the body,
But not the body.
It is in the mind,
But not the mind.
It is in the thought,
But not the thought.
Oh,
It is present in the thought also,
But not the thought.
So what is the way?
Stop blame,
Complain and reaction.
It's adhyatma upanishad.
Adhyatma upanishad,
Adhyatma,
Adhyatma,
Adhyatma.
Adhyatma upanishad.
So it has a long,
You know,
It's a long verse,
One mantra with a long verse and adhyatma upanishad.
So it goes on explaining.
It is in the earth,
But not the earth.
It is in the water,
But not the water.
It is in the fire,
But not the fire.
It is not,
It is in the air,
But not the air.
It is in the space,
But not the space.
So wave,
Water is present in the wave,
But it is not the wave.
See that?
Same example.
So it is in the body,
But not the body.
It is in the mind,
But not the mind.
That is the real self.
That is the unchanging,
That it can never be destroyed.
You see that when you guide these principles to a person who is suffering from stress and suffering,
That baffles their mind.
What do you want?
I'm not suffering from anxiety.
They want,
They have a negative ego.
Negative ego says,
How dare you say that I'm not suffering from stress?
See,
See the negative ego?
See?
So here the master is baffling the mind of his seeker.
Come on,
You crazy guy.
You are real self.
Don't worry about the false self.
Don't worry about the secondary self.
The stress and the suffering do not touch you.
You are not what you are thinking.
You are not what you are experiencing.
See yourself,
Put yourself into the right situation.
How to put that?
I have to hammer my intellect to destroy the delusion.
This is what Krishna is saying.
Hammer your mind again and again.
In my early days,
Living with the master,
I used to experience the same crazy stress,
Suffering.
And the moment though they enter into my mind,
I used to visualize my master.
I said,
It belongs to you.
Anxiety has come,
Belongs to you.
My mind used to claim,
Blame the others.
I said,
Now that blame belongs to you and the guy also belongs to you.
I used to hammer my mind again and again,
Again and again.
And,
Oh,
I got it.
I realize it is the mind that makes you crazy.
Why?
Because the mind is living in the false self and in the secondary self.
As long as when it lives in the secondary self,
It will cause you the problem.
So hammer the intellect.
That is what the Sankey Yoga is.
Sankey Yoga does not say you need to practice.
You need to understand.
Sharpen the intellect,
Raise your awareness,
Live into that higher awareness.
Higher awareness.
There are only two things in the entire galaxy world.
What are those two things?
I am and I am not.
What I am not is,
I am not is matter.
You can understand in a different way.
There is a matter and there is a consciousness.
There is an objective world and there is a subjective world.
There is I am and there is I am not.
What I am not can never cause me any problem in the suffering in the world.
As long as I am settled in my real self.
The moment I am settled in the false self and the secondary self,
Then I'm bound to suffer.
See that?
See the beauty of this verse.
If you go deeper and deeper.
What are the references?
I am and I am not.
So intellect can only discern what I am and what I am not.
So if you do not discern in the intellect and you are doing meditation.
So what I am not will come to your mind.
And you will never succeed in meditation.
See John,
That is the beauty of the Sangha Yoga.
So that is why we studied today in the earlier session.
Practice with dispassion.
See that?
If dispassion is absent in any meditation,
You are doing it for 10 years,
You are the same guy.
You do not change.
Same principles are same,
Explained differently.
Once we have a clarity of this,
You see the life will change.
So I am and I am not.
What I am not?
This the entire world outside of people,
Of objects,
Of the things including I am not the body,
I am not the mind,
I am not the intellect.
I told you before,
What is that?
Manobhadhirahankara chittani naham nachashrotrajivai nachaghananeetri nachavyumahumirnateju navaayu chidanandarupa shivoham shivoham So you recite with the meaning,
I am none of these five elements,
I am not the body,
I am not the mind,
I am not the emotion,
I am not the intellect,
I am not the ego,
Then who am I?
I am the second thing,
I am the real self.
You have to discern in the intellect.
So when you discern in the intellect,
Problems are gone.
Well,
So we are learning Sangh Yoga.
Let us see another sutra,
Worst number,
Not sutra,
The worst number.
Ah,
19.
So he is still explaining what exactly is the self,
The nature of the self,
The characteristics of the self.
And at the same time,
He is pointing out,
Don't be crazy.
Yahu eram vethi hantaram yahu chayinam anyatehatam ubhauto na vijani tah na ayam hanti na hanyate He who regards this real self as a killer and who thinks it is killed,
Both have done failed to perceive the truth.
It neither is the killer,
Not it can be killed.
Nobody can kill my real self.
You say me that I am crazy.
So your certification to me of being crazy is not valid because I'm real self.
That craziness does not apply to the real self.
It applies to the false self.
I have created a sense of individuality.
Ah,
That ego is working behind.
And that ego says,
How dare you say I am crazy.
Are you understanding?
So from today,
Anyone says you are crazy.
Thank you very much.
You are good.
But internally you say to your mind,
This,
Your certification to me doesn't stand anywhere because I'm the real self.
All yoga teachers are normally crazy,
The real yoga teachers.
The false yoga teachers make others crazy.
They have a right.
That's the difference.
So you have to differentiate,
See the beauty,
Enjoy.
Now see another point here.
Which Upanishad but yes,
Let me,
Let me explain that.
As long as we are the doer and the enjoyer,
We feel that we can make others crazy and others can make us crazy.
So what is the meaning of enjoyer and doer?
That's a beautiful principle.
So enjoyer.
First the mind has a desire to enjoy.
Then only I become a doer.
I want to enjoy pasta.
So I have to be a doer.
Either I go to the kitchen and cook that pasta to eat it,
To enjoy,
Right?
Enjoyer and the doer.
They work deeper inside.
When I live with my false self and live with my secondary self.
Clear?
Understood that enjoyer and doer.
So enjoyer of what?
Enjoyer of a thing outside.
Why I feel that I enjoy?
Because I'm seeking happiness there.
Bring the same principle.
So,
Okay,
I see I'm seeking happiness in eating pasta.
That is why I become the doer.
But happiness is not there.
There is no need to become the enjoyer and the doer to seek happiness outside.
But let me perform my role very well,
Whatever,
Wherever I am.
I am wife to someone.
Let me perform my role of being a wife without an ego.
The life will become better.
Example.
Let me perform my role as a teacher.
And the moment you or everyone comes,
I start gossiping.
Why should I waste even a single minute of yours?
You have saved your time to be here.
So I should not do anything.
You see that,
You know,
Have you seen a lot of other teachers?
I have seen,
I have attended many sessions in the yoga studio.
Three hours workshop.
So half an hour goes away in TE,
In registration,
In accepting the payment.
I know this.
I'm not saying good or bad.
Just think of it.
Think of it.
Three hours means three hours,
Excluding registration,
Money,
Et cetera,
Et cetera,
Et cetera.
Are you understanding that?
So it means I'm mindful of performing my role as a teacher.
So you should also be mindful in performing your role as a student.
I'm feeling sleepy.
That will not work.
So both way.
But you need not to worry what others are doing.
You do your duty.
You will not get any reward.
Be happy.
But you will not,
If you will be punished,
If you do not perform your role very well.
See how it happens?
Even for five minutes,
I start talking of other things,
Except for which we are gathered.
You will say,
You know,
He talks too much about other stuff,
Even five minutes.
So I will be punished.
Don't do that.
Ever remain vigilant.
Play your role wherever you are and enjoy.
Play your role with the mindfulness,
With your talent,
With your capacity,
With your wisdom.
So playing your role is performing your task.
Focus on the task.
Do not focus on your ego.
Do not focus on the result.
That's another principle.
That is also hinted.
Nitya and the Nemetya Karma.
I must do my duty.
I ought to do it.
This is my duty as a teacher to guide you the best possible way,
Finished.
Whether you are listening or you are not listening.
What should I.
.
.
That depends on your mind,
Not on me.
So as a student,
Your focus,
Your mind should not focus on my beard.
It should focus on the knowledge.
Now that will change you.
You see?
That is the key.
Now see that you are doing your job.
I was just listening that I'm a social worker,
Social.
.
.
So focus on the work.
That's all.
Forget about the result and the ego.
You will see you are following Sanke Yoga.
Until now,
Is Krishna saying that you have to do a long practice to become free from the stress?
No.
Understanding in the intellect,
Understanding,
Get that right knowledge,
Live into that right knowledge all the time.
Sanke Yoga.
Sanke Yoga.
So let us see another verse,
Number 20.
Ah,
The verse number.
.
.
So he again,
You know,
He explains the same principles in a different variety of ways.
Why?
To have a clarity and conviction in the intellect.
Why to have a clarity and conviction in the intellect?
Why to have a clarity and conviction in the intellect?
Why to have a clarity and conviction in the intellect?
To have a clarity and conviction,
To remove the doubt.
Why to remove the doubt?
So that I should not have any stress in suffering.
Najaaya te,
Bhriya te,
Mriya te,
Vakadachin,
Aha nayam bhutva abhavita,
Vana bhuyah,
Ajo nityah,
Shashvatuyam puranu,
Nahanyate hanyamane sharire.
There was a great master.
Long back,
I think I would say,
1500 years ago,
Great master who lived.
So the king of that place where this master lived was very envy,
Have a hatred against that master.
What a kind,
You know,
Everyone is going there and everyone is respecting this.
So knowledge is always respected in India for the last 10,
000 years.
You belong to irrespective of your color,
Your shape,
Your size,
Your gender.
You see that Kabir was a weaver and he was born in a poor family.
He is known as the Rumi of India.
He is placed equal to the Buddha.
Come to the main point.
So the king called this master and he said,
I will kill you.
So he said,
Nobody can ever kill me.
Why?
Because I'm not the body.
It is a real story,
I'm not the body.
So then he said,
The way you will see that you are decapitating my head,
I will also see that this head is being decapitated.
Can you see the fearless statement from the master?
And the king got scared and he left.
But I should have a conviction.
I should live into that awareness that I am not the body.
When my child body has died,
Replaced by youth,
Youth body is replaced by the now this present body.
So it means I can never be the body.
So this is what the master is saying in a different sense,
That real self is not born,
Nor it die,
Nor is it thing comes into being once and passing away will never come into being again.
It is unborn,
Now it is giving the characteristic,
It is unborn,
Ancient,
Eternal,
It cannot be slain with the slaying of the body.
It cannot be,
I cannot die by the death of the body.
Means that real self,
That pure consciousness never die.
Can you destroy the space if you destroy the building?
Demolish the skyscraper,
The space remains the same,
Build it again,
Build it again,
The space remains the same.
So what he's pointing out,
The master is pointing out,
Look at this beautiful real self,
It cannot be,
It cannot be done.
It means that self is a beginningless and endless entity in,
That is what I am.
Can I live into that state?
It's only a matter of discernment and it is a matter of,
It is a matter of awareness only.
I realize that what I am is deathless,
Boundless.
Namim ritu shanka namijati bheda.
Another verse in this,
What I spoke before,
There are nine,
Nirvan shatakam,
Seven verses or eight verses.
Namim ritu shanka namijati bheda.
Namim ritu shanka namijati bheda.
Namim mata najanamam.
Pitta naiva me naiva mata najanamam.
Nabandhar na mitram guru naiva shishya chidaranandarupa shivoham shivoham.
I do not have a fear of death,
Nor do I have death at all.
No separation from my true self,
That is the ultimate of yoga.
No separation.
Why?
There is no ignorance.
I realize that secondary self and the false self is just,
They appear in ignorance,
No doubt about my existence,
Nor I have discrimination on the basis of the birth.
Now see that if I'm not born and I will not die,
Then who is my father?
And who is my brother?
You know we have a lot of problems,
You know,
I have a stepfather and I have a stepmother.
You know,
Etc,
Etc.
We already know that in our society we have a lot of challenges like this.
Now you put into the mind this kind of a wisdom,
What will happen to them.
So what he is saying?
No doubt,
I read almost couple of years ago,
That this body is not the product of only parents,
But this body is the product of more than 50 parents.
What?
What?
Are you kidding?
No,
I'm telling you the truth.
Science says this through their inference,
What we have studied today,
That this body,
No doubt,
It comes directly,
Evidently from the couple who are known as parents,
But my parents survived on more than 50 different people.
Say I die today,
No grief,
Then I go into the symmetry,
My permanent home.
So my body is fragmented and there is a phosphorus and nitrogen cycle,
An oxygen cycle,
Right?
Because of that,
My bones and my body is in the earth,
From there the plants grows and vegetables grows that you love and like,
You eat it.
So I have some part in your body also.
How many people?
So not only my parents,
But many parents are responsible for my physical body.
Did you understand that part?
Understand,
Have a larger picture,
Don't remain selfish.
So that is in that context you see that?
He says I have no father,
No mother,
Nor did I have a birth.
I have no relative,
No friend,
Not a guru,
Not even I am a student.
I am indeed my real self,
Full of peace and happiness.
I'm not teaching you a rocket,
I'm not teaching you based on a blind belief.
It is full of facts.
This is what the Gita is saying.
Now the science is saying that every guy has 50 parents.
We have said it thousands of years back.
We have a right knowledge,
We understand that.
So he says don't worry about it.
So why to worry whether,
Don't talk about stepfather and stepmother.
Out of the 50 parents,
I just explained,
Can you say them which one is step one and which one is the real one?
Which one is the real one?
How can you figure out?
How can you figure out?
Okay,
My head belongs to the stepfather and here it belongs to the stepmother.
Isn't it a big joke?
It is already a thought process.
Can I change that?
Can I live into that state of discernment?
See,
The happiness comes.
Let us see another verse that also makes you clear.
So all the explanations are based on these 10,
15 verses.
And once you see how they are based,
Even Yog-Sutra,
Yes.
Once you understand,
By even listening the life change,
What he says,
He who knows it as immortal,
Eternal,
Imperishable,
Spiritual existence,
How can that man slay or cause to be slain?
How that man can be the killer or can suffer from the stress?
Real meaning is that how can I suffer when I understand the reality,
When I have the right knowledge?
Ved avinashinam netyamya enam ajam avyayam kathamsah purushah partha kam bhati ati hantikam So basic fundamental meaning is there,
Here killer and killed,
Meaning is that how I suffer.
Where comes the suffering?
So what is that meaning?
Now see,
You understand the meaning of these words,
Immortal,
Eternal,
Veda,
Vinashitam,
Netyam,
Imperishable,
The self,
Real self as the existence.
What Patanjali says,
Real self,
Tadadarshtu,
Surupevasthanam,
Empty the mind of its contents.
Sankhya says simply know the reality by listening and learning,
By contemplation and reflection,
You will reach to there,
That point where you see there is neither a birth nor a death and you are happy.
Yes,
Let me,
If you have any question,
Let me know.
I have a question,
Gracious,
Brandy.
Yeah.
Did you say at the beginning that contemporary commentators don't cross reference the Gita with Upanishads?
Sure,
Especially the modern art because they don't know.
They have not studied,
So simple.
They have not studied.
So when you don't study,
You simply study for the sake of teaching,
Then you cannot reference,
You cannot cross reference.
Then you do not know the entire Eastern wisdom.
You have to read and study first for yourself.
That is the second reason.
If I study for myself,
I did not understand what the Gita says.
So let me find out other texts where it is written.
I did not understand.
Let me find the other.
Let me go to the authentic commentary and then I find in authentic commentary the fundamentals,
The cross references.
Oh,
This is what it is.
You know what the FBI does.
Who is brandy?
You know,
I have only one small information where she lives.
Okay,
Let me ask neighbors.
Let me ask acquaintances of brandy.
So I have cross references,
So I have a clarity and conviction.
I just told FBI in this context,
You know.
FBI does all the cross referencing,
Yeah.
So we should sharpen our intellect to work as an FBI until we have a clarity.
Then we can say,
Huh,
Is brandy,
Is culpable.
So that brandy which we know,
Which we claim is the false self and the secondary self.
Drop it.
You are already there.
When you drop both of them,
Your real self cannot be undone.
See that?
Real self cannot be undone.
Finished.
Once I reach there,
I'm happy.
So we are going slowly,
Understanding this second chapter and then it becomes easy for understanding the other chapters.
So in this chapter comes,
You know,
It's such a beautiful way.
Can I have a steady wisdom?
So when you have a steady wisdom,
This entire world cannot make you suffer.
You are immune to the mental challenges in your life.
Finished.
But we have to practice,
We have to live into that.
It is not simply the listening.
So Sankey Yoga leads to the steady wisdom.
So the second chapter also is going to explain in other verses,
Oh,
This is the way I have to live in my daily life.
I was missing this point.
You will miss it again.
You live it again.
You miss it again.
You live it again until the mind lives in the purified state.
That is the process of amputing the mind of its contents in Sankey Yoga while living your daily life.
By Patanjali,
It means you sit in long hours of meditation.
So here it says direct approach.
Practice as you live,
As you think.
This is a question that's just kind of like a realization I had today.
But I think when I first started this journey of studying even before I met you,
I think I wanted to use this as a tool to manage my anxiety or my stress.
And then like today when you said,
You know,
Like the negative ego says,
How dare you say I'm not suffering,
I think I've held onto that.
And I'm like,
Well,
I've been through this,
I've experienced this.
And I was identifying with that rather than knowing that it's not me.
I'm not my suffering.
And I was like,
Oh,
I've been identifying with the false self.
So thank you for that.
Wonderful.
That is what the awakening is.
You de-identify with what you are not.
The moment the de-identification takes place,
The life changes.
The next moment you are a different person.
We carry the burden unnecessarily for so many years,
Weeks after weeks.
That's a beautiful to know Alex.
So that is all for today.
We are going to meet next week.
Yes,
We will.
And we'll meet on Friday before that.
We'll have tons of anatomy.
So if you want to look into your anatomy stuff before then,
Feel free to do so.
Otherwise,
See you next week,
Everybody.
Thank you so much.
Thank you.
Thank you so much.
Thank you for sharing,
Alex.
I'm so happy for you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
See you tomorrow morning.
