You feel like procrastinating.

Become aware of the stories you're telling yourself right now.

Become aware of the physical sensations of procrastination in your body.

Accept that sensation.

Let it be there.

It's not a problem.

Imagine that you're breathing in and out through that sensation of procrastination,

Wherever it lives in your body.

With every inhalation,

You are accepting that sensation,

That resistance.

And with every exhalation,

You are releasing it.

Procrastination is the impulse to avoid pain and discomfort.

Ask yourself,

What is the pain you're running away from?

It could be a physical discomfort,

Mental discomfort,

Or emotional discomfort.

Now become aware of your aspiration.

Become aware of the pain of not living it,

Not pursuing it.

How will you feel if a month from now,

A year from now,

A decade from now,

You're still stuck,

Not making progress,

Not having achieved your goals?

Contemplate that pain.

See that procrastination is the cause of that pain.

See that compared with the pain of not achieving your goals,

Of not living your values,

The pain of this action you're trying to avoid is rather small.

Now feel how the pain of taking action has diminished,

Feels more manageable.

See how you are now more willing to take action.

So now decide what is the next action you need to take to advance your goal.

Break down your goal,

Your habit,

Your project into baby steps and figure out what is the next action,

The next small action that you need to take to get momentum.

Commit to taking that action despite the discomfort.

Visualize yourself right now taking that action successfully and feeling good after it.

You have now exercised the willpower to shift your state and you're ready to take action in accordance with your values and aspirations.

You're now ready to get a plus one.

Go do it.

At first I was surprised to get ”thrown in” to the meditation straight away without the usual ”take a few deep breaths” soft beginning. But for this particular purpose it worked really well. No tip-toeing around the task at hand. Thank you for a very solid and short meditation for taking action!

This really made me look hard at my habitual procrastination around a particular goal in my life. Something that I’ve been avoiding doing … yep, procrastinating about my known orocrastination 😊

Simple, short yet motivating. Loved that the spans of silence allowed for true reflection and thought. I will return to this when I need to tackle something I’m putting off. Thank you!

Thank you very much:-) I love that your track addressed the emotional aspects of procrastination and feeling it in my body. I especially appreciate it the long thinking pauses you built into this meditation. I'll be coming back to this for sure🙏🙏💗
