Welcome to this 11 minute sit where we give ourselves permission to have a Beginner's Mind where we can let go of figuring things out.. What if we didn’t need to have all the answers right now? What if we allowed ourselves to meet this moment without needing to understand it—just to feel it, directly and honestly? Consider this Zen koan: “Not knowing is most intimate.” We will gently touch on this during our sit together. It invites us into a space of not knowing—not as confusion, but as intimacy with ourselves. My invitation to you is to open to experience - fresh, honest, and deeply alive. Let's let each breath, each sensation - everything that arises - be new. There is nothing to solve. Just rest here. Curious. Present. Close.

We're going to have the intention of having a beginner's mind for this sit,

So that you might take it with you in your interactions,

Remembering that you don't need to know everything.

In fact,

When we have a don't-know mind,

We're open to possibility and support.

So,

Start by taking a nice deep breath as we get settled,

And feel your body settling,

Lowering,

Sinking into the present moment.

Let your face be soft,

Eyes soft.

See what it's like to invite a sense of openness in the throat.

Expand into the neck,

And rest your attention in your shoulders,

Opening up to space here.

Feeling your seat,

Pressure underneath your seat right here,

Right now,

And your feet,

Where they make contact.

As we open up to beginner's mind,

Envision your mind like a wide-open sky,

Sensations,

Thoughts,

Come and go like clouds.

We sit still,

Let it all pass through,

And with the in-breath,

We can make contact.

Breathing out,

We can open up to the space,

We make contact.

Breathing out,

Opening up to the space,

Not knowing,

Being supported,

Inviting possibility,

Reassuring ourselves that we do not need to know,

Opening up to the great mystery.

All we need to do is be right here.

Breathing in,

I make contact with myself,

With home.

Breathing out,

I open up to the wide-open space of possibility.

Not knowing is most intimate.

You might try repeating this throughout the day.

Check in with the space around your mind.

Check in with the space around your heart.

Notice how it feels.

A wide mind.

Continue sitting if you'd like.

Or come into the next part of your day with an awareness.

Having a beginner's mind is slowing down.
