Welcome back my friend to Get Woke with Jaren.

We've been working these last few sessions on building awareness of our thoughts so we can be present in the moment.

During today's meditation,

We'll also make time to address an emotion most of us are all too familiar with,

Stress.

Stress occurs when we're thinking about the future in fear and no longer present in the moment.

So it makes sense that meditation can help reduce stress and our practice today will help us avoid it.

Please take a seat and get comfortable.

Now as you close your eyes,

Begin to breathe in and breathe out and place your full awareness on the breath.

Become aware of your body.

Notice gravity pulling you into the earth.

Any temperatures that you feel.

Any uneasiness or sensations in your stomach,

Back,

Or chest.

And now become mindful of your breathing again.

Notice where the breath sits within your field of consciousness and place your full awareness around it.

Name each breath from the moment it's born through to the end of its completion.

The moment you notice you're lost in thought without judging yourself,

Let the thought just linger for a moment.

Where is it located?

Now watch as it falls away.

Now return to your breath,

Smile,

And let your breathing just be a passive action in the universe.

Notice as you breathe,

You can also sense an observer witnessing the breath if you try.

This observing presence is not the breath.

It's a separate preceding consciousness.

Meeting the observer,

Whatever it is,

Is key to our practice today.

You are not your thoughts.

You are not your breath.

You are not your stress.

You are just an observer in consciousness.

Now come back to the breath.

Now return to your breath.

The moment you notice you're lost in thought without any judgment,

Let it linger for just a moment.

Does the thought have a location?

What feelings are associated with it?

Now watch as the thought fades away.

And then come back to the breath.

End your breath and body with awareness.

Now return to your breath.

Repeat after me.

Every day above the ground is a good day.

I know that my life will unfold in positive and unexpected ways.

I live in the present moment.

My fears and concerns are only thoughts and they do not affect me.

Before we finish up,

Let your body just relax.

Notice gravity pulling you in and breathe in and breathe out.

This is just a thought and like any thought that arises out of our control,

We can let go of it.

Thank you for tuning in and also thank yourself for taking 10 minutes out of your day,

Out of your busy schedule and putting yourself first.

I'm proud of you and if you have a friend that's stressed out right now,

Don't forget to subscribe if you haven't already and I'll see you here every Monday and Thursday on Get Woke with Jaren.
