In this meditation practice,

I'll be sharing with you some steps that you can take to work with resistance that might be coming up when you feel like you need to be moving in a particular direction yet a part of you is not on board with that and you might be procrastinating,

You might be feeling sleepy,

You might be coming up with excuses.

So just listen to this meditation and see where it's going to take you and what you're going to be uncovering and learning about yourself.

So to begin with,

I invite you to find a comfortable posture and position.

Allow your shoulders to release away from your ears.

If there's any tension present in the forehead,

See if you can let it soften on the exhale,

Gently letting it go.

And if you're sensing tension in other places of your body such as your belly or your lower back,

Just use the same practice of softening,

Releasing the tension on the exhale.

From here,

I invite you to start to become aware of that resistance that you are experiencing and what does it actually consist of when you start to come a little bit closer to that resistance.

What are the thoughts that appear in your mind?

What kinds of feelings or emotions start to show up?

And instead of pushing that away,

Can you simply accept your resistance,

Accepting the emotions or the feelings that might be arising such as frustration or anger?

Also,

What is the energetic aspect of that resistance?

Does it want to push away?

Does it want to run away?

And then from here,

I invite you to locate this resistance in your body.

How does it show up physically inside of your body?

Does it show up as constriction in your throat,

Heaviness in your chest,

Numbness in the back?

Just opening and exploring,

Being curious,

Bringing non-judgmental attention to that part of yourself.

And from here,

Can you imagine that you're just applying a drop of love to that resistance?

You're just saying yes to it,

Allowing it to be there.

You could even imagine giving your resistance a hug,

Holding it in your warmth,

In your embrace.

Notice what starts to happen when you do that.

You might notice a relaxation or softening inside the body or maybe nothing changes and that's okay too.

Just be patient with this part of you that's resisting.

And you can start to have a conversation with it.

Once again,

Without forcing it to be on board with your agenda,

You're just slowing down and connecting with this resistance in a loving and caring and compassionate way.

You can let this resistance know,

I'm here for you.

And then notice how that resistance responds to you.

And then keep going back and forth with this dialogue,

Simply being open and receptive to what your resistance wants to share with you.

Maybe your resistance wants to show you something.

Maybe it's coming from a past experience you had.

Just allowing it to express itself to you.

And from here,

You can also ask your resistance,

What do you need?

And just listen for the response.

Maybe your resistance needs to feel a greater sense of safety.

Maybe it needs your patience.

Maybe it needs to be reassured of something.

Maybe it just simply wants to be heard and that's enough.

And then from here,

If you want to take more time and continue working with your resistance and giving it more attention,

Feel free to do that.

You can also grab a journal and continue doing this through writing.

And if you feel complete that you've discovered something or learned something about your resistance and you'd like to bring this meditation practice to completion,

I invite you to gently move your body.

Be from side to side,

Maybe moving your arms or moving your head in a circle or side to side.

And then when the time feels right for you,

Gently opening your eyes if they were closed and coming back into the space where you are in.

Take care of yourself.
