Consumed at times by confusion, doubt and fear, my clients often request me to help them raise their self esteem. This short practice is designed to remind you of the specialness of who you really are, so that you can move past the blocks keeping you from appreciating yourself and working towards achieving your dreams and goals and the meaningful contributions you were meant to make.

It is time to actually appreciate yourself.

Close your eyes.

Start to take some long,

Deep breaths.

Now we are going to do some heart breathing.

The heart is believed by some to be more powerful than the brain.

So this is to empower you in your own life space.

Imagine breathing in from a column of light that is coming down from space into the top of your head,

Flowing down to the heart.

And now breathe out into an imaginary column of golden light from the heart into the space straight out in front of you.

And now take a breath back into that column of light back into the heart.

Now breathe out slowly from the heart back up that silver column to the space above.

And slowly again inhale downwards from that column of light from the space above you and into the heart.

Then slowly exhale from the heart into that golden ray extending straight out in front of you.

And yes now just settle into your breathing.

Now pay attention to your feet instilling a grounding of yourself down through the floor and floors below.

And down into the foundations and then into the earth below.

And even deeper into the earth below.

Just imagine,

Realize this body that you're in is a community of 37 trillion cells.

Each one breathing and metabolizing the you that resides here.

What a miracle how many coincidences had to occur for you to just be here now.

Ponder for a moment the miracle that you are right here and right now.

And ah the thoughts they come and they go like the breath.

Thoughts just come and they go.

Yet with the help of these thoughts emotions and a life are created.

Take a few moments here to clear out the negative thoughts.

Most negative thoughts come from fear.

As Winston Churchill famously said the only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

Breathe out fear.

Breathe in courage.

Breathe in to trust the self.

Breathe out fear.

Breathe in courage and hope and love.

Choose only uplifting thoughts as much as you can each day.

Reflect here on what you have or are that you could be grateful for.

Even if it's only the ability to breathe and to be here now.

The power to make choices and to choose wisely lies in this moment now.

You residing in your 37 trillion cells are really more powerful than you can even know.

And now for some external support.

Place your thoughts for a moment now on someone who you admire.

He or she could be close or far among those now living or among those who have passed.

There's a reason this person comes to you now in your thoughts.

Perhaps there's a trait there that you admire.

Maybe patience,

Courage,

Perseverance,

Calmness.

Whatever that trait is,

Aim to make it your own.

Allow that trait to be copied now and made your own,

A part of you.

Deliberate for a moment now on your future,

Becoming more of who you want to become.

In this future,

What are you doing differently?

What is one thing you could do differently?

What are you saying just a little differently to yourself and to those around you?

You belong here.

You are loved.

So this,

Your evolving purpose is yours to discover as you stay on this journey becoming even better and even more of who you were meant to become.

There is a group to which you belong.

Choose from this day forward only those to be with you who you find uplifting and gradually,

Gently move yourself away from those who are not supportive of you and your life purpose.

You belong.

You are centered in your purpose.

You discover more of the wonder of yourself each day.
