Sleep Talk Down: Explore The Universe
Today's recording is both a sleep talk down and a lucid dream incubation wrapped up into one. We'll start with the sleep talk-down which will take the form of a shamata meditation. Then, we'll move on to the lucid dream incubation where we'll find ourselves drifting between the stars! Enjoy. If you enjoyed the recording, please consider leaving a review and rating it.

Hello,
I'm Rhys Jones and welcome to this sleep talkdown and lucid dream incubation recording.
Today I'll be guiding you through the process of relaxing your mind,
Preparing yourself for sleep and then,
Once your mind space has been softened,
Sowing the seeds for a lucid dream later on in the night.
In this particular recording,
The sleep talkdown theme will be a shamatha meditation and the lucid dream incubation theme will be drifting between the stars.
Please note,
You're free to fall asleep at any part of this recording,
So when you begin to feel tired,
Don't hesitate to follow that feeling.
It may wash over you during the sleep talkdown or it may wash over you during the lucid dream incubation.
Either way,
Roll with it.
When it comes,
Do not wait for my permission to fall asleep.
Follow my words until you begin to feel drowsy,
At which point allow yourself to let go and gently drift away.
And so,
To begin,
Please turn off all of your lights,
Lay down on your bed and get into a position that you feel comfortable in,
Either on your belly,
On your side or on your back,
Whichever position feels best to you.
Adopt it now and then make any final adjustments you need in order to feel fully settled.
For example,
Perhaps you'd like to shift your comforter or maybe you'd like to take one last sip of water.
Whatever makes you feel comfortable and snug and safe should be done now.
If you haven't done so already,
You should now close your eyes and take a deep breath in and out and take another deep breath in,
Then allow your breath to settle into a normal rhythm,
Not forcing it to go one way or another.
Today's sleep talkdown will be a Shamatha meditation.
Shamatha in essence simply means tranquility,
Calmness.
And so,
We'll start by resting our attention on the breath and cultivating that feeling of tranquility and calm.
Like I said,
There's no need to try and control the breath.
Let it do what it wants to do.
Maybe you're naturally a deep breather.
If so,
Roll with that.
Perhaps you tend to breathe more shallowly.
For this particular practice,
That's fine too.
The only thing I ask is that you focus on the breath keenly but loosely,
As if you're transfixed by it,
As if it's the most amazing thing you've ever experienced.
Because in a sense,
It is.
So many of us have doled ourselves to the magic of the breath.
But now,
In this moment,
I want you to tune back into what we all know to be true.
The breath is something special,
Something worthy of your full attention.
And as you follow the breath,
Notice how everything settles down along with it.
Your body relaxes,
Your mind lets go,
Or perhaps it doesn't.
Perhaps you find your body tensing up or your mind wandering.
If so,
That's okay.
Observe without judgment and gently remind yourself that now is an opportunity to let go of that tension,
An opportunity to drop all grasping.
Now that you're here on your bed,
Safe and secure,
Listening to this guided sleep talkdown,
The only thing that's expected of you is to follow the breath in,
In,
And out.
Let the relief of that simple request wash over you now.
Nothing else is expected of you in this moment,
Here and now.
All of your other earthly responsibilities have been put to one side and all that exists now is the breath in,
In,
And out.
Observation,
Peaceful,
Awareness,
Relaxation is now with you,
Gently guiding you towards sleep.
And as you feel yourself sinking into that other realm,
Altered mind state,
You go with it,
Letting yourself flow with the downward motion down further towards sleep.
You have completely,
And it's in this letting go that you find peace,
All the while remaining anchored to the soft in and out motion of the breath,
Focused but relaxed,
Sharp yet soft,
Aware,
Drifting.
You are now in a supremely relaxed state,
Either sleeping or on the edge of sleeping.
And so we're ready to begin,
Incubating a lucid dream for later on in the night.
By following along with my words and visualizing them as you go,
You'll prime yourself to draw upon these very same images during REM.
There's no need to follow along strictly,
Just continue relaxing and allow my words to wash over you.
Whatever images come,
Come and even if you're now asleep,
Know that your subconscious will soak these words in and store them for later.
So,
Let's begin.
You come to standing by a huge galactic portal,
Staring out into a swirling mass of colorful galaxies.
You're in a spacesuit,
It feels sturdy and secure.
And you're standing on a sheet of solid blue.
You look down,
Taking in what supports you.
It has the look of an ocean,
But the feeling of a floor.
How strange,
You think,
Reaching down to touch it.
It morphs with your touch,
Momentarily turning to a jelly-like texture.
Your fingers dip into the jelly and the sensation startles you into a full realization of where you are.
None of this makes sense,
You say out loud,
Your voice reverberating.
I must be dreaming.
Now lucid,
You see the gigantic galactic portal through new eyes,
Awakened eyes,
Through the eyes of your waking self.
And this vision feels amazing to you,
Bewildering and humbling.
As all lucid visions are,
Your mind flashes back to the shamatha meditation you were doing earlier and you draw a parallel between the two practices.
Waking up in a dream is much the same as honing your attention in waking life,
You think,
Switching from autopilot to full presence,
Precise and unyielding.
You were doing that during the meditation and now here you are,
Doing the same.
And how much better consciousness feels in this form,
You think,
Not be dull or distracted or deluded,
But to be present and appreciative.
Your eyes move around from one galaxy to the next and you begin to contemplate,
Stepping through.
You're a seasoned pro when it comes to portal adventures,
So the thought feels quite natural to you.
There's no resistance,
But at the same time you sense that this will be quite different from your other adventures.
You sense that on the other side of this portal,
There's no solid ground or defined objective,
No specific direction or purpose.
Instead,
You sense that what awaits you is drifting,
Drifting,
Drifting between the stars.
And so you step through,
Lucid and intrigued.
On the other side of the lucid galactic portal is exactly what you suspected,
Nothing,
Nothing or the other word that's commonly used,
Space,
Vast,
Empty space.
And you somehow are within it,
Drifting through it,
Surrounded by it,
Cradled and loved.
And so you let yourself sink into this feeling,
Watching the tiny specks of light off in the distance,
Knowing that they aren't so far off as they seem.
And as you drift through this void,
You keep your lucidity at the forefront of your mind.
This is a challenge,
You think,
To keep awareness,
A light in a void with nothing solid to ground you,
But certainly possible as you're now finding out.
In fact,
It's as if the emptiness itself is lifting you up,
Brightening your lucidity,
Framing it,
Increasing its potency.
And so you drift some more and the void becomes you.
After a while,
The dream comes back to life as if speaking to you.
You feel that,
In a sense,
You've passed the test.
Colors abound,
Vibrancy lights up the horizon and the colorful galaxies return,
Beautifully punctuating the scene around you.
The dream is indeed speaking to you,
Impressed that you maintained lucidity through the perceived blankness,
Through a lack of stimulation.
And as a reward,
It dances for you now,
Putting on an awesome show of galactic propulsions.
The galaxies roar with color and life.
The space dust swirls and swims and stirs.
A set of stars align in a beautiful straight white line,
And within the middle of this dance is you.
You give your thanks,
Nodding and smiling,
Grateful and serene.
