Today, we explore a contemporary Method of prayer called Conspire, rooted in the Christian Mystical Tradition. Not to be confused with the Conspiring Prayer of Mark Karris, Conspire is based on the Latin root "conspirare" which means breathing-with or with-breath. We'll throw it all the way back to the book of Genesis for this one, then give you some tips on creating a sacred space of your own. As with all Methods episodes, we encourage the use of headphones.

You You Hello and welcome to methods an exploration and guided prayer and meditation The word conspire has Latin roots of Khan and Spirale and means with breath or breathing with It is written that God breathed into or inspired the earth and made the first human being whom the book of Genesis refers to as the Hebrew word Adamah,

Which means earth It also states that all humanity represented by Adam is created in the emago de Latin for divine image Latin for divine image This ties us inextricably to both the dust from which we came and The indwelling spirit that animates us in God's own image and likeness This was thought of as how the image of God entered into humanity in the first place through that sacred breath If we believe that God continues to be active in the world today We might come to view the original act of creation as an ongoing event not just one time occurrence More to the point perhaps God breathes into us still Today we will perform a contemporary method centered around this sacred breath The method goes like this Create a safe and quiet place for yourself This can be in your bedroom,

A separate office,

Living room or prayer closet Wherever you can sit undisturbed for a while Dim the lights and make the temperature comfortable It may help to light a candle or burn a fragrance that puts you at ease Your body will try to use any distraction to pull you away from this time But you can avoid this tendency by creating a comfortable environment Feel free to pause this episode to give you time to move from your room to your room Feel free to pause this episode to give you time to move into a comfortable setting Sit up as straight as you can Whether that's in a chair,

On the edge of a bed or a cushion on the floor If you choose a chair,

Place your feet flat on the floor Or if you prefer a cushion,

Make sure that it's supportive enough to lift your hips above your knees As this will help to encourage an upright posture and place less stress On your lower back.

There will undoubtedly be aches and pains associated with sitting for extended periods of time However,

We want to minimize them as much as possible I'll give you a moment to stretch out and find a comfortable posture I'll give you a moment to stretch out and find a comfortable posture Relax Relax Release your concerns and responsibilities for the duration of your practice They will still be there waiting for you when you're done But this time is for your devotion In order to give ourselves to the world,

There must be an opportunity for us to be filled Breathe in through your nose quickly And out through your mouth more slowly Do this a few times And out through your mouth more slowly.

Do this a few times And out through your mouth more slowly.

Do this a few times Now close your eyes and allow yourself to breathe naturally Not forcing your breath,

Just paying attention to it as it comes and goes Allow your natural breath to sustain you With your inhale,

Experience this as God's breath of life filling your lungs With your inhale,

Experience this as God's breath of life filling your lungs With your inhale,

Experience this as God's breath of life filling your lungs His breathing out is the creating and sustaining of life within you This divine breath fills every part of your body with life This divine breath fills every part of your body with life Every cell full to bursting with his breath With your exhale,

Experience this as a breathing out of yourself and into God Your exhale is God's inhale Your breathing out of your worries,

Stresses,

Concerns is God's sacred inhale Your breathing out of your worries,

Stresses,

Concerns is God's sacred inhale In this inhale,

Imagine God delighting in taking in your stress and anxiety In taking in your stress and anxiety and transforming it into pure breath to breathe new life into you Continue your practice like this,
