Namaste everybody.

Welcome to In The Flow with Lorie Albert.

Who wants to have a good day?

You want to have a good day?

I do too.

And you know today I decided I wanted to talk about ways to have a good day.

You know that,

And this is a little bit controversial,

But,

But we can decide to have a good day.

We can create a good day.

We do.

You know,

You know,

For those of us that do this on a daily basis,

You think,

Oh,

Of course,

Absolutely.

And that's not even a thing.

Why are you even talking about it?

It's easy.

But then there are those of us,

And I'm not,

I used to be one of them,

Wake up in a bad mood.

Everything goes wrong.

The coffee spills.

Traffic is like ridiculous and slow.

The guy cuts you off and it's a thing and then this happens and your boss is blah,

Blah,

Blah,

Everything,

Right?

But what if we created our new day,

Our happy day,

Our good day?

What if we created that?

So that's what we're going to do today.

We're going to create our good day.

Yay.

So it sounds like it's,

You know,

To those of us who have done it,

It's very easy to those of us who aren't exactly familiar with it and how to do it.

It's kind of like challenging,

Right?

So let's start at the beginning.

Okay.

When you first wake up,

When you first open your eyes,

What do you do?

Do you get,

Oh my God,

I'm late.

Do you get like,

Ah,

Do you get crazed because you're late or whatever?

Or do you wake up and go,

Thank you.

So that would be number one way to have a great day.

When you wake up first thing and you have to train yourself to do this,

But you say thank you.

Right?

You say thank you.

That's number one.

Okay.

Number two.

Let's think about this for just a minute.

We have to consider stepping away from fear.

We have to consider stepping away from fear and all those sort of negative emotions.

So when you wake up in the morning and you say your thank you,

Right?

Get up,

You start brushing your teeth,

Take your shower,

Whatever it is that you do in the morning.

And you generally start thinking about what your day is going to be like.

At least I do.

Right?

Okay,

I have to do this,

That,

Whatever.

But a lot of times something of like,

Oh my God,

What if this person doesn't do this and then I have to do this.

What about this or I have to do that?

Step away from all that.

If you can step away from the fear and move into the present moment,

That creates the joy.

Right?

When you're brushing your teeth,

You're brushing your teeth instead of thinking,

Oh my gosh,

I have to do this,

I have to do that.

Start thinking of like,

I had a great night's sleep or that dream I had was so fun.

Or you could even go into yesterday.

Yesterday,

Oh my God,

My dog did the cutest thing.

You know,

I mean,

You can do those sorts of things.

It's beautiful.

Right?

The trick is to sit in the moment.

Sit in the moment and let go of the fear,

The fear of the past,

The fear of the future,

Because all we have,

All we really have is right now,

Right this second.

And replacing that fear with joy of just being alive in the moment.

It can be life changing.

And here's the thing.

It takes a little bit of practice.

Yes,

It does.

You can begin your day in gratitude and keep it going throughout the day.

There are pattern interrupts as David G likes to call them.

Right?

So when you find yourself,

Okay,

So you start out your day and you're doing great in gratitude and blah,

Blah,

Blah.

And then all of a sudden that guy cuts you off and it just tweaks you like that.

So guess what?

You need to pull in what,

Like I said,

David G calls a pattern interrupt.

Right?

And it can be different for everybody.

For me,

It's a very deep breath.

And I wouldn't recommend doing this when you're driving,

But I close my eyes and I go,

Right?

For some people,

That's all it takes.

For other people,

There's the 16 second sort of meditation.

You breathe in to the count of four,

You hold it to the count of four,

You breathe out to the count of four,

And then you hold again to the count of four.

And that sort of gets you to stop that path that your brain is going down.

All those icky thoughts that our brain loves to tell us.

So today,

We are going to meditate on this.

So let's all get ourselves comfortable.

Get ourselves comfortable.

And when you're there,

I want you to close your eyes,

Let your eyes float closed.

Please take a nice deep breath in through your nose going all the way down to your toes.

Let that air and that oxygen get all the way into you.

And release.

Right there is a beautiful pattern interrupt.

Taking that deep breath in,

Knowing that you're breathing in positivity and happiness.

Let's do that again.

Let's take a nice deep breath in and release.

What are you grateful for today?

What is there with you in your life that you are so grateful for?

Creating a practice of gratitude can truly change everything.

I am so grateful to have my practice of gratitude.

I am grateful that I actually slept well last night.

I'm grateful that I got up early and had a cup of coffee.

I am so grateful to be sitting here right in this moment.

What are you grateful for?

Today our meditation will be guided.

So I invite you to concentrate on your breath as you listen to my voice.

Make yourself comfortable.

Today,

In this moment,

I let go of fear.

Today,

In this moment,

I let go of impatience.

Today,

In this moment,

I let go of jealousy.

Today,

In this moment,

I let go of grief.

Today,

In this moment,

I invite in peace.

Today,

In this moment,

I invite in happiness.

Today,

In this moment,

I let go of patience.

Today,

In this moment,

I invite in love.

Today,

In this moment,

I invite in gratitude.

Today,

In this moment,

I let go of patience.

Today,

In this moment,

I invite in joy.

Today,

In this moment,

I let go of patience.

Let's take a nice deep breath in,

Inviting in all of these beautiful,

Beautiful emotions through your nose and out.

One more beautiful deep breath in,

Feeling that peace and joy,

Gratitude,

And release.

When you feel comfortable,

You can open your eyes.

How does everybody feel?

This is how we set up our day for joy.

This is how we set our day up.

Set your day this way and it will be joy.

It's a practice.

And like I've said,

It takes some time to get used to the idea of saying thank you first thing in the morning.

Sticky notes are my favorite way to do it.

Thank you so much for joining today.

I wish you peace and joy and gratitude and love today everybody.

Until next time,

Namaste.
