Today I'd like you to join me on a journey of discovery,

To find out how you really feel about your place,

Your home,

To tap into your emotions.

If we use visualization within our meditation,

It is possible to reveal how often hidden and even surprising emotional responses to our real world.

It may be challenging,

But these revelations can provide helpful insights.

So let's start by relaxing.

Make sure you are settled.

Simply close your eye as you take a deep breath in and a long,

Slow breath out.

Feel your body,

Your whole body,

Relax.

From your head to your feet,

From your shoulders to your hands.

As you take a deep breath in and a long,

Slow breath out,

Picture the relaxation as a soft,

Misty colour spreading throughout your body.

As you take a deep breath in and a long,

Slow breath out,

Let everything go.

Let it drift into the mist.

Now allow your breathing to settle into its natural rhythm,

The soft mist drifting in and out of you.

Totally relaxed,

Totally at ease,

Drifting.

Nowhere to go,

Nothing to do,

Drifting.

Through the mist now,

Picture yourself,

Standing in the middle of that part of your home where you prepare your food.

I call it the kitchen.

Really see yourself there,

Standing in the centre of your kitchen.

Feel your feet firmly on the floor.

Breathe and relax.

Slowly turn full circle,

Taking in the whole kitchen.

The cupboards,

The benches,

The sink,

The fridge,

The floor,

The walls,

The appliances,

The ceiling,

The colours,

The smells.

The windows,

The door,

The light.

The view from your kitchen,

Inside and outside.

Take your time.

How does it make you feel standing there in your kitchen?

Tune in to your feelings.

What emotions rise within you?

Are you filled with comfort or discomfort?

Are you relaxed or tense?

What is it about your kitchen that makes you feel this way?

Be aware of your responses,

But don't dwell on them.

Breathe and relax.

Let's move now from your kitchen into your main living area.

How do you feel as you walk towards it?

Be fully conscious of the distance,

The time,

The floor,

The walls,

The ceiling,

The doorways or stairs.

Stand still for a moment at the entrance.

Take in the whole room.

The colours,

The shapes,

The furnishings,

Any pictures or paintings,

Lights.

How do you feel?

Are you relaxed or tense?

What part of the room attracts you most?

Why?

What part of the room attracts you least?

Why?

Be aware of your responses,

But don't dwell on them.

Breathe and relax.

Let's go now to where you sleep.

Is it close or a little further away?

Take your time.

Be totally aware.

Now there,

Standing in the doorway,

Seeing the whole room.

Is it a space of peace and tranquility or drama and excitement or something else?

The colours,

The shapes,

The bed,

The furnishings,

The outlook.

How do you feel?

Does it invite you to sleep?

Sit on the edge of your bed.

How do you feel?

Lie down on your bed.

How do you feel?

Be aware of your responses,

But don't dwell on them.

Breathe and relax.

I'm going to leave you now for a short while for you to wander through the rest of your home,

Indoors and out.

Tune in to your emotions.

Be aware of your responses,

But don't dwell on them.

Consider any possibilities of change.

When you have finished,

Make your way to the inside where your front door is,

Your main entrance.

I'll meet you there.

Go now.

The music will guide you.

Stayikkolun!

Are you here?

Is your front door your main entrance?

Slowly now,

Being fully conscious,

Lightly rest your hand on the handle and take a deep breath in and a long,

Slow breath out.

When you open the door and step outside,

Take in all of your emotions,

Take in all of your responses.

Now open the door and step outside.

How do you feel?

Is there anything you want to change?

If so,

How?

Allow your unconscious mind to drift through the possibilities.

Don't dwell on them.

You will remember the important ones.

One last thing now,

Before we go.

Let your feet walk you back,

Back to that room or space where you feel most at ease,

Most relaxed,

Happy to be.

What is it about this space that makes you feel this way?

The colours,

The shapes,

The furnishings,

The balance,

The location,

The outlook,

The memories.

Sit or lie for a moment or two and let your emotions speak to you.

Can you define the feeling?

Could you make it even better?

If so,

How?

Allow your unconscious mind to drift through the possibilities.

Now from this place of comfort,

Consider that part of your home that you like the least or that makes you feel emotionally uncomfortable.

Could you make it better?

If so,

How?

Allow your unconscious mind to drift through the possibilities.

Drift.

Drift back now to this time,

Drifting back to this space,

Bringing with you the insights and the possibilities.

Softly now,

Gently now.

Open your eyes and stretch,

Ready to continue your day or night.

Namaste.

Fascinating. I live in a too small studio apartment in a crowded city. This meditation connected me to the feelings of anger, being crowded, anxiety, and especially disgust I feel about my home. I know it's time to move but it was helpful to feel the exact emotions arising from my present condition that I keep under the surface. My subconscious is doing a lot of work to keep those feelings from teasing apart my sanity and balance!

Loved this meditation. I never realised how each part of my home conjured so many different feelings and emotions. It felt very cleansing to gently see and accept them. Thank you.
