Welcome,
My name is Evangelos.
I'm from Four Ways to Freedom.
Today we're going to do a pure awareness practice.
Another way of saying that is the practice of no practice or a meditation without any effort.
Find a comfortable place to sit or lie down.
Don't have anything pressing against your stomach.
Being really natural and easy.
In this meditation I'm also going to share with you the six words of advice to help you in your practice.
This will be a practice of watching and observing without chasing,
Without pushing anything away,
Without running towards or running away from anything that's happening inside of you.
If you just stay present,
Whatever is happening will start to dissolve.
It will start to settle like a drop that settles into a pond of water.
Your inner world,
Your nervous system,
Your mind,
Your emotions will start to settle.
Throughout the meditation I will weave in the six words of meditation advice.
These are simple and very famous words of advice from one meditation master to a student from Talopa to Naropa in the year 1020.
So people have been meditating for a long time with incredible results that produce peace,
Harmony,
And clarity.
So just relax.
Remember there's nowhere to go and there's nothing to do.
If it helps you,
You can just pay attention to your breath,
But we don't want to even hold onto the breath or try and control it tightly.
We're just paying attention.
The breath changes throughout the course of the day.
Sometimes it's long,
Sometimes it's short.
All we're doing is watching.
We're being observers of our inner world.
And since we've probably poured a lot into ourselves,
Meditation is the art of allowing what is inside to simply be poured out and settled.
You settle yourself by simply paying attention.
So just watch.
Just look in the spirit of friendliness and kindness.
The six words of advice,
Don't recall,
Let go of what has passed.
Don't imagine,
Let go of what may come.
The future is unknown.
Don't think,
Let go of what is happening now.
Explain yourself not to feed your thoughts with more thoughts.
Just let them move like objects flowing down a river.
Don't examine.
You don't need to figure anything out right now.
Don't control.
Try not to make anything happen.
Don't even try and chase peace.
Allow peace to come to you.
Try not to chase joy.
Just let that come to you.
And finally rest.
Relax right now,
Right here,
And settle.
The work of the meditator is to simply watch without judgment,
Without wanting,
Without pushing away,
Simply to be with all that is happening inside.
When we learn to watch without commentary,
We change the chemistry of our inner world.
We reset,
We recharge,
We renew.
And I'll shorten the six words of advice one more time.
Don't recall,
Don't imagine,
Don't think,
Don't examine,
Don't control,
Simply rest.
If you do this continuously,
You will train yourself to live in the present moment.
When you live in the present moment,
You become loving awareness.
Namaste.
