There is a topic that we often talk about.

In fact,

It is one of the everyday topics between people.

But also in general,

If you look at TV's,

Radio and other places,

That it is important to know and what the influence is.

And that is all about your mood.

Your mood has a second by second chance.

We all think that we know what mood is.

It is the way how we feel in a particular time of the day.

We have recognized many different forms of moods and most of us will pass them all during their lifetime.

Mood is not human.

All humans and plants do have a certain mood also.

But what is most interesting,

Their mood is also changing.

It is good as we look more closely at what is the state of mood.

Our mood is based on some fundamental characteristic or also called our temperament of our mind and our physique.

The mood is something which is the result of millions of chemical reactions in our body which all affects our neural system.

More interestingly,

It is that our mood is changing every part of the second and we are not even aware of it.

Mood has many influences that we search for the most important influences to understand the process.

The first big influences are from an internal part.

One is our physical side which relates to all what is happening inside our body.

You know the feeling then mood is changed when you eat something wrong.

Not only you feel sick but your mood is changing rapidly too.

The physical condition plays an important role in the mood of a person.

The better the health,

The better the mood.

Our mental state of mind plays a very important role in what mood we display.

Clear mind is often a cheerful one.

We have many external influences.

They are strong but in lesser degree than the internal powers.

These external influences are the observations and impressions we get from our direct senses.

These observations come from the environment which also has other less obvious and more subconscious influences on how we feel.

The last important influence of our mood are the drugs and the medicines we take.

After hearing this you understand that your mood is under a constant pressure of all influences and it just adjusts itself to every situation and observation.

When you are in a cheerful mood when you enter a funeral it is not considered appropriate and surely you cannot laugh and talk loud there.

Adjustment of the mood is often needed to suit a situation.

But this raises the question do we adjust our mood or our behaviour?

Try it yourself.

On a cheerful day to surround yourself with depressive people I bet you will be in a negative mood in a very short time.

That is surely not behaviour but your mood that is changed.

This implies that the mood is a very sensitive instrument of our mind and it has different functions.

The first function of the mood is our contact with the external world.

It is the communication channel to the environment.

A feel-good mood has positive energy and will reflect this to the outside world and this reflection often gets a mirror effect and we receive positive feedback in return.

Except when we live and work in a negative environment.

There we need to build a protective wall between our mood and that of the environment.

The wall is built as a shield of defence and located in our emotional centre of the brain.

Pity enough it is not a strong wall and it can collapse under long and tremendous pressure.

In this lecture it starts with the saying that our mood is a second by second change process.

The question is how does it work?

In every body,

This includes animals and plants,

There are difficult and different chemical processes going on all the time.

Life is the follow up of these processes and needed to maintain life.

These chemical processes take and deliver energy.

Every process is supposed and supported by an action of the brain.

Or the central cell system that is managing the physical state of the body.

Each action has a reaction on an energetic level and mental effect.

Finally we still do not believe that plants do have moods but try an experiment for yourself and see if that suits your reality.

Sit down,

Talk to your plants as often as possible.

First try to do it yourself,

In a very positive way.

Then ask a very depressive person to take care of your plants and ask this person to talk to the plant for say 3 weeks.

Every day and then at least 3 or 5 times a day.

It is just a few minutes or so,

Something like 10 minutes.

You will see two changes.

The first change is in the plants which will not look good as before and when you had positive talks with your plants then you can see what happened to the plant.

And the second change is seen in the depressed person who has become less depressed because of talking to the plant.

Do the test and be surprised.

And for some animals we all know that they have a mood which resembles the human idea of what we consider a mood.

You know that animals can be grumbling and be happy and be cheerful but also be angry and depressed.

So now we understand that part.

We get back to the energy process which is a strong influence of our mood.

There is positive and negative energy.

We know that from all the lectures and that is no surprise to you.

A higher charge of positive energy creates a more positive mood.

While a negative charge will have the opposing effect.

As every chemical action releases some small bit of energy there is a constant change of energy within the body which influences the neural system at all time.

Depending on the power of the reactions,

Of clusters of reactions,

The body responds with mood change.

If the mood did not have a stabilizing factor such as our personal temperament it will be bouncing around all the time.

So then we come to the question can we influence our mood?

To influence our mood we have to work on several factors.

The goal of my lecture is to influence in a positive way and enhance your life,

Situation and who you are.

I will focus only on that part.

Keep in mind that there are many manic depressive people and they are often very creative when they are in a switching state of mind.

They are only productive during the manic period and dangerously destructive in their depressive time.

What factors are important influences of a positive mood?

Let me give you a list and a number and first I give you the numbers and then I explain you one by one.

Number one is always your sleep.

Two is food,

Three is your friends and your family and other relationships.

Four is your body and word language.

The first important influencer is sleep.

It can have a positive but also a negative effect.

This is also due to the time that we need to use for our sleep.

People can be softly divided in day and night personalities.

Some people need more and others need less sleep.

But a normal factor is between six and nine hours of which each has a 90 minute cycle,

Sleep cycle every time.

And that is the leading factor,

That 90 minutes cycle.

Good sleep delivers energy and recuperation of your body and mind.

It can be said that good sleep is a reset of the brain,

Like what you do with your computer when the memory is too full to sweep it clean before you can really use it again.

A clean head and a recovered body comes with positive energy and a good mood.

Our second influencer is the food.

There are many different reasons why food is such an important mood promoter.

The first and most important factor is that good food breaks down in products and that delivers good energy,

Positive energy to your body.

The closer the relationship,

The more effect it has on your mood.

Emotional distance gives the influencer a specific size of power over your mood.

Their mood becomes your influence.

And then the last number four,

I mentioned there is something you can try to control even direct,

Consciously,

The body and your words language are both expressive,

The result of internal processes and possible to create and manage.

Heba would like to give you some samples to try and experience the influence of your mood in a direct and indirect way.

Test and experience.

Smile to people.

Do it every day.

Just smile and feel the difference in your head.

Sit down first in an open position where your hands are with the palms up and your arms are open,

Unfolded.

Both your feet are flat on the ground and you sit firmly on your seat.

Talk softly to another person.

Do not raise your voice,

But be clear in what you say.

Articulate as much as possible.

Every word.

Another,

Shout it out on a sport field or concert or cheer someone or something.

You can do that for the TV as well if you want that.

Open your arms wide.

Try to receive a person inside.

You want to hug that person.

At the moment first alone with imagination and later just try it with a real person.

You will feel the difference.

Here you see that also your body and your words have a clear influence on your mood every day.

All these influences can be managed,

But it is important to make choices of what is considered most important for your personal development.

Your mood is an interactive,

Flexible,

Manipulative system that will be active as long as you live.

Use and manage it well and you will have the benefit of doing so.

Question and answer.

Question 1.

Why do we have positive and negative mood situations?

Answer 1.

We need positive and negative mood situations to balance our life.

The positive mood is for action,

Mental development,

To reach our goals and to interact with people.

In other words,

In a positive mind we celebrate life.

While the negative mood is opposing this and set us back to a considerable and consideration position,

We have doubts and feel insecure.

In a negative state of mind we do not trust people.

We act more defensive,

Be less open and less trusting.

It is a protective mechanism.

When the positive is in the majority,

You are able to reach goals and build a future.

But often you also take risks in many ways.

The result of the risks can have a negative effect on your mood and bring us back to the core of the self and start doubting ourselves.

We need the negative mood to see the relativity of all our existence.

Question 2.

In this lecture you mentioned about the 80 and 90 minute sleep cycle.

Can you explain that?

Answer 2.

Yes,

I wrote even a book about it and it's published especially in China.

We have five stages of sleep that follow in a cyclical order.

All these stages are so called the wake stage,

The relaxed wakefulness,

A light sleep,

A deep sleep and a REM sleep.

These stages take around 90 minutes to pass by.

In general we say that one cycle is good enough for four hours of mild activity.

Normally a person needs at least four to six complete cycles per night to maintain a good mood.

But there are exceptions to the truth.

Question 3.

My mood is changing often and I feel that I'm not stable.

Originally I used to be a good mood all the time.

Since a few weeks it's no longer stable.

What can it be?

Answer 3.

There are many reasons to investigate.

I give you some suggestions for real analysis.

I need to have much more information on a personal level to really conclude something.

When you are a woman in the 50s it's possible you are in the menopause and hormonal change have a direct influence on your mood at all time.

Males have the same kind of period called the midlife crisis.

In general sudden mood swings are caused by changing chemical constructions and constitution of the body and can be treated with a combination of exercise,

Full schedules and sometimes,

Yes,

Good medication.

I'm not really the one who is in favor of it but when it is needed it's needed.

Other reasons can be you can have a good diet,

A complete change in your food regime and that can have a very serious effect on your mood and mood swings.

Some diseases,

Especially problems with the abdomen or chronic global diseases,

Also are very strong influences.

Another thing is when you change your environment,

So you really take a step back and watch what kind of environment you are looking at now and the last and one of the most strongest influencers of our mood is to lose a loved one and that can break our heart,

Literally.

Question 4.

My mood is like a bull,

Always the same.

How can I have it more swing?

Answer 4.

In Chinese traditional medicine there is a so-called rock face and rock body personality.

These people have a nearly square constitution of face and sometimes the same for their body and they are well known to have rock solid mood as their constitution is.

The main reason is that chemical activities are in a form of constant balance and little will change over the years.

Stepping out of this pattern is hardly possible without having severe consequences for your health and mental position.

Changing everything which is mentioned in this lecture is also possible for such a person but will probably have a negative long term effect and will cause health problems.

Question 5.

I have a fragile health and mood that is easily shattered with any changes.

Doctors cannot find a reason and I want to be more socially involved.

Do you have any suggestions for me?

Answer 5.

First take a look at food and directly after that exercise.

What kind of food do you eat and how is your physical response to it?

Can you eat more solid food?

A little bit more heavy or spicy to enhance the system?

At the same time find activities like yoga,

Pilates,

Tai chi or karate to get a more stable physical balance position.

Physical balance is needed to enhance your feelings of security and confidence.

The first important step is to create a mental stability by using physical components as a tool of measurement.

Raising physical weight,

Just body weight,

Is often a tool to help in performance and stability.

If you have more questions please address them in a personal connection to me because all these kinds of questions are general and I cannot be too specific in my explanation because this takes really a lot of more knowledge and questions to create a basic understanding of what is going on.

You see that during the lecture I pass by a lot of information and all of this is based on a question and answer on a personal situation.

This is another lecture in the series Terms of Life and many more will follow.

Be welcome to listen to all of them.
