Within the Creative Cycle and the Five Elements, Fire Element energy illuminates, transforms, and generates warmth that draws others near. It's vibrant and visible. But when this energy becomes imbalanced in us, we might dim our light, avoiding the very visibility that would allow our work to have impact. The beauty of Fire energy is that it needs only a small spark to grow. Similarly, creative confidence can build from small moments of courageous action. Explore the "Spotlight Breathing" technique - a simple practice to help you move through anxiety and into a state of focused, confident, creative flow. Welcome back.

Today we'll explore the spotlight breathing technique,

A simple yet powerful practice to help you move through anxiety into a state of focused,

Confident,

Creative flow.

Find a comfortable seated position where your spine can be tall yet relaxed.

If you wish,

You can place one hand on your heart and one hand on your lower belly.

Begin with three deep breaths,

Allowing each exhale to release tension from your body.

Now imagine a warm spotlight of attention resting gently on you.

Rather than a harsh,

Judgmental spotlight of criticism,

This is a warm,

Appreciative spotlight of recognition.

This light sees your gifts,

Your uniqueness,

Your creative potential.

As you breathe in,

Imagine drawing this warm light into your body,

Filling your lungs,

Your heart,

Your mind.

And as you exhale,

Feel this light radiating outwards from your center,

Illuminating your surroundings.

Breathing in,

Drawing that light inwards.

Breathing out,

Expanding it outwards.

Every inhale,

You feel the warm light saturating and filling your lungs,

Heart,

And your mind.

Every exhale,

You feel this light radiate and shine outwards from your center through you,

Lighting up the world around you.

As you continue to bask in this light,

Bring to your mind and your heart your creative project.

As you breathe in,

Visualize this warm light infusing your creative idea,

Project,

Or work with confidence.

And as you breathe out,

Visualizing this work,

Project,

Idea,

Or expression radiating outwards,

Touching others with its light.

Continue like this for the next five breaths.

If and when you notice any anxiety,

Self-doubt,

Or worry arising,

Acknowledge it with kindness.

You might note mentally,

I notice I feel anxious.

I notice worry rising.

As you acknowledge it with kindness,

Return to your breath.

And with the support of your inhale,

Draw in self-confidence.

And with the support of your exhale,

Radiate out authentic expression.

Continue this breathing pattern for a few more cycles,

Feeling the natural rhythm of receiving and expressing,

Of drawing in and shining out.

And if and when you feel ready,

We'll take one more deep breath in and one more long breath out,

Allowing yourself to truly shine.

Let your shine saturate your consciousness as you gradually guide your awareness back to the way,

Shape,

And form of your physical body,

To the sound of my voice,

To the surroundings of the space that you are in.

This spotlight breathing technique can help your relationship with visibility and expression.

Here are some ways you can build on this practice.

Before beginning your creative sessions,

Practice spotlight breathing.

And during your session,

During your creative session,

When you notice anxiety arising,

Pause and take three spotlight breaths.

You can also set a timer for 25-minute flow sessions where you create without judgment.

And after completing something,

Consciously acknowledge your dedication.

Thank you for joining me for this practice.
