Hi,

Welcome to this meditative experience designed to give you an opportunity to go inward and to connect with the you beyond the body and mind.

To begin,

Find a comfortable position.

You can be seated or lying down.

Keep your spine as straight as possible.

Make sure that your facial muscles are relaxed,

Your shoulders are far away from your ears,

And your hands are resting comfortably on your legs.

If you haven't already done so,

Feel free to close your eyes,

And if that's not comfortable,

Simply lower your gaze so that you're not distracted by what's happening around you.

You want to make sure that whatever position you've adopted allows you to feel relaxed but yet alert.

Now see if you can focus all your attention on your breath.

Notice the air that's moving in and out of you.

You don't have to change how you're breathing,

But simply notice the quality of your breath.

Notice its rhythm.

Maybe notice where you sense your breath the most.

That might be at the rim of your nostrils,

In your chest,

Or maybe down in your belly.

Maybe you can focus your attention in that area of your body where you notice your breath the most and let it serve as an anchor so that whenever your attention goes elsewhere,

You can always bring it back to your breath,

To the present moment.

Your body is still,

But your mind may still be very active.

Be sure not to make this into a problem or try to suppress any thoughts.

Can you bring acceptance to the nature of the mind and allow the thoughts to be just as they are?

How does it feel to breathe in and know that you're breathing in?

How does it feel to breathe out and know that you're breathing out?

Stay with your breath and allow this observation of breath to keep you here in the present moment.

It's very easy to feel isolated and even alienated rather than having the sense that we come out of earth and that we are part of nature,

That we are one with nature.

We tend to speak and act as though we are completely apart from the natural world,

From each other.

This often leads us to believe we have to conquer,

Compete,

Fight against and overcome our environment and everyone and everything in it.

But there's something about entering stillness and experiencing who and what you are beyond the body and mind.

Maybe in these moments,

When we allow ourselves to simply be here,

We experience,

We get a glimpse of our oneness with everyone and everything.

Because everything in this universe is interconnected and interdependent,

We rely on each other and on the natural world for our existence and well-being.

Our actions and choices have ripple effects that extend far beyond ourselves.

If it feels right to you,

I'd like you to repeat,

I am because we are.

I am because we are.

Take a deep breath in and slowly breathe out.

Thank you for sitting with me.

Until next time,

Take care.
