Welcome to this guided meditation,
Embarking on healing your menstrual story.
From shame,
To strength,
To wisdom,
And healing our womb spaces.
When you are ready,
Become aware of the physicality of your body in the present moment.
Feel the space your body takes up.
Feel the air on your skin,
The clothes against your body.
Notice the connection you have to the floor beneath you.
Now come into awareness of the earth itself.
Feel the connection of being supported by the earth.
Allow your body to completely relax.
Let the weight of your body give way to the support beneath you.
The seat,
The floor,
The earth.
Know that you are safe in this present moment.
You are safe here and now in your body.
Feel the grounding energy of the earth supporting you.
When you feel that sense of safety,
Allow the image of your younger self to come into your awareness.
Picture them at the time in their life when you got your first period.
Simply start to observe.
What clothes are they wearing?
How is their hair styled?
Are they wearing any accessories?
Take in the full image of who they are in that moment.
Now slowly start to notice the space around them.
Where are they?
Are they at home,
Outside,
At school?
Take in the whole scene.
What objects surround them?
What colours?
What are they doing?
Are they engaging in hobbies or activities?
Are they with anyone?
Are they alone?
Take a moment to fully observe your younger self.
Now gently return to the present moment.
Check in with yourself.
Allow your breath to draw you back into the here and now.
Notice how your body feels in this moment.
Ask yourself,
Do you still feel safe in this space?
Do you still feel safe in your body?
Honour anything that is coming to the surface.
If you still feel comfortable and safe,
Bring your younger self back into your awareness.
We are now going to walk through the journey of them experiencing their first bleed.
If you can recall the moment of your first bleed,
Bring that memory into your mind.
Notice the scene around you.
Notice who is there.
Notice what is happening.
If the details aren't clear,
Simply allow whatever floats to the surface to come through.
Connect with the feelings of your younger self in this moment.
How are they feeling?
What emotions are present for them?
Open your awareness now to the stories surrounding them at this time.
What messages are they hearing about menstruation?
What are they hearing from parents or family?
Maybe from friends,
From teachers,
From school friends,
From the media,
From society.
What stories are shaping their perception of this experience?
Now,
As your present day self,
Ask your younger self,
What do you need?
Allow them to share with you what they need in that moment of getting their first bleed.
Listen with an open heart.
After hearing their needs,
After hearing their desires,
Ask yourself,
Can I meet these needs for them now?
If no,
Can I set an intention to move towards meeting these needs in the future?
Take a moment to return to your present self.
Notice the physical sensations in your body.
Check in,
How does your body feel right now?
Do you still feel safe and supported in this moment?
If you feel ready,
Return now to your younger self one final time.
As a token of gratitude for your presence,
Your younger self has a gift for you.
Imagine reaching out your hands and receiving the gift.
Observe the gift closely.
Take in its significance.
Ask yourself,
What have I been given?
How can I carry this gift with me in my present life?
When you are ready,
Slowly return back to the present moment.
Bring your awareness back to your physical body.
Slowly,
Feel the support of your seats,
Of the floor,
The earth beneath you.
And take a deep breath in.
When you are ready,
Slowly,
Gently start to wiggle your toes,
Wiggle your fingers.
Slowly,
Open your eyes and bring your awareness back into your body.
