Release Eye Strain Meditation (Powerful)

This is a powerful meditation and technique called 'palming' to release eye strain. It is best done in the morning and before going to sleep but is effective at any time of the day especially if you have been spending much time on your phone or computer. If you are lying down: have a pillow ready. If you are seated: ideally be near a desk and keep your spine straight during the exercise. Much love, Felix

Welcome to this releasing eye strain meditation.

The technique that you will learn in this meditation can be carried out for much longer than the duration of this meditation.

So feel free to implement that whenever it suits you.

So just start to breathe slowly through your nose,

Into your belly,

And start to get relaxed here in this moment.

Relaxing the edges of your eyes.

Relaxing the jaw.

Dropping your shoulders.

Relaxing your shoulders.

As you breathe through your nose,

Into your belly,

You feel how your ribs expand and contract.

Fully here in this moment right now.

Now I want you to take on the position in the picture posted here in this meditation,

Which is essentially the left hand over the left eye,

Slightly cupping the inside of the hand.

The fingers resting on the forehead.

And then the right hand doing the same thing,

But the fingers going over the fingers of the left hand.

Your hand is in a small cup,

So it does not touch the eyes.

If you are lying down,

You may like to place a pillow on your chest and then rest your elbows on that pillow.

If you are sitting,

Try to find a desk and place your elbows on the desk,

Just so you don't have any tension where you try to hold up your arms.

If you feel that the hand is touching your nose and it's difficult to breathe,

Just move them up slightly.

Now the goal for this technique,

Which is called palming,

Is to relax the muscles around your eyes.

So just shift your hands around until you don't see any more light coming through.

Just take a moment to do that,

Because when you do that,

You signal to your eyes and to the muscles around the eyes and all the mechanisms involved in seeing that there is nothing to see right now.

There's no image,

No light coming through.

It is time to relax.

You can start to sense the warmth from your palms.

Start to sense this warmth on your eyelids.

And as you breathe in,

Breathe in healing into your eyelids.

And as you breathe out,

Release tension.

Healing,

Releasing tension as your eyelids relax and let go of any tension,

Anything they've been holding onto.

It is in these moments when we give ourselves the permission to relax that we notice how much strain has actually been here.

We kept pushing,

We kept going,

And now is the perfect moment to release the tension in your eyelids.

The curtains to the world that you see.

And now moving on as the healing and warmth from your palms enters into your eye,

To the cornea,

Into the iris,

Into the pupil.

So breathing into the eye now,

Relaxation,

Healing on the in-breath and letting go on the out-breath.

Healing tension on the out-breath.

As your eye relaxes,

You can also feel how all the muscles around your eye are relaxing.

So just giving these muscles a bit more loving right now on the in-breath,

Healing,

On the out-breath,

Letting go.

On the in-breath,

Relaxing.

On the out-breath,

Releasing.

Do this in your own time and timing right now,

Whatever feels right for you.

A lot of eye strain is caused by these muscles around the eyes being very tired,

Being very overworked.

So giving them some care right now is a very loving thing to do and something you and your eyes will benefit from greatly.

Now imagine as the warmth from your palms once again travels into these muscles around your eyes,

Travels through your eyelids,

The same time you're breathing calm and slow,

Facilitating this healing.

Warmth going through your eyelids into your eye,

The cornea,

The iris,

The lens,

The pupil all components of your eye benefiting from this healing,

From this warmth.

Breathing to your optic nerve just behind your eye,

Soothing it with the love it deserves.

And then letting this warmth and this healing travel through your brain all the way to the back of your brain.

And at the back of your brain you find the visual cortex.

Letting the healing and the warmth from your palms reach here,

Bringing everything into perfect balance.

The visual cortex is the place that you see.

You don't see with the eyes.

The eyes just receive information and pass it on to the optic nerve which then travels through the brain and all the way back here to the visual cortex.

So really there is no need to strain our eyes so much.

We can now give them permission to let go.

Because all the seeing happens back here in the visual cortex.

With this knowledge,

With this awareness you feel how the muscles around your eyes relax even more,

Letting go of any remaining tension and just completely melting.

Bringing away any tension,

Whole,

Balanced,

Perfectly healed.

And just notice how your palms keep streaming,

Keep streaming this warmth and healing into the muscles around your eyes,

Into your eyelids,

Into your eye.

Through your brain.

And to the visual cortex.

You don't need to do anything for this healing and this process to occur.

It is generated by the intelligent love of the universe.

The same intelligence that created you.

The same intelligence that creates life.

It also knows how to rebalance you and you have that in you at all times.

So just being grateful for that,

For this intelligence that is in you and all around you.

Always loving you fully,

Always accepting you fully.

Giving you complete permission to let go and surrender to it.

Because once you do,

You can benefit from the harmony.

You can benefit from its balance.

So you may want to continue this practice,

Letting that healing stream into the muscles around your eyes,

Into your eyes and so on.

If that is the case,

Then just pause this recording now.

If you want to finish right now,

Then just be really careful as you start to take your palms off your eyes,

But do this extremely slowly.

Think of it as a sunrise.

As you slowly lift your palms and your hands away from your eyes just as slowly as the sun rises.

And before you open your eyes,

I want you to do a quick exercise that will make you benefit from this meditation even more.

So for one second,

Flash your eyes open and then close them again.

Now resting here and doing that again,

Quickly flash them open without straining and close.

And doing that again,

Quickly flashing it open for one second without straining,

Closing.

This exercise is called flashing.

And what it shows you is that you don't need to produce any effort to see.

The image is just flashed into your eyes,

Received and then brought to the visual cortex.

You don't need to strain so much to see.

And in addition,

It also slowly prepares your eyes for seeing light again.

Just slowly open your eyes very carefully and have a beautiful day.
