Welcome to this eye relaxation meditation.
You can be doing this meditation however you like.
You could be seated,
Lying down or standing.
However being seated or lying down is recommended.
So just getting comfortable.
Thank yourself for taking the time today to give yourself the care and attention and love that you need.
These days we work with our eyes a lot.
We spend a lot of screen time that strains our eyes.
That are not really built,
Not really evolved to be coping with all the screen time.
Our grandparents,
Our parents never dealt with this much screen time.
So it is only natural that we take some time to rebalance our eyes.
And if your eyes are particularly strained,
Not getting too worried about your eyes.
Just knowing that as a whole you are wealthy and whole.
Even if one area of your body is a bit more strained right now.
This is okay.
You will rebalance.
So to start off with,
Just start to bring your awareness into your eyes.
What sensations are here right now?
No judgement,
Even if the eyes feel tired.
And now on the in-breath,
Breathe in relaxation into the eyes.
And on the out-breath,
Let go of tension.
Knowing that your breath is washing away any tension and bringing relaxation and new life on the in-breath.
Paying close attention to the sensations here right now.
Now imagine that you are breathing in a white light.
That spreads more and more.
So when you breathe in,
You take in the white light that fills your eyes.
And on the out-breath it expands further,
Further into your body.
Keep doing this until your whole body is covered in this white light.
Flowing over your neck,
Your chest,
Your heart,
Your digestive system,
Down your legs,
All the way to your feet.
As your whole body is now being filled with this white light that is cleansing and rejuvenating.
Feel the white light coming into your eyes and cleansing and relaxing every single cell.
Knowing that every single cell has the divine wisdom to restore itself to perfect order.
Everything is in perfect order.
Now let's do a more dynamic exercise to strengthen your eyes.
So without moving your head,
Only moving your eyes,
Look upwards as far as you can.
You can do this with your eyes closed or open,
This is up to you.
And hold that.
This could hurt a little bit,
That is absolutely fine.
During your day,
You often fixate on a single point such as your screen,
Such as your phone,
That is very close to you.
But looking upwards and holding that tension starts to bring some dynamic action into the muscles of your eyes again.
Now letting go,
Returning to center and closing your eyes.
Now looking to the left side in the same way,
Eyes closed or open and just holding that there.
And returning to center,
Resting here for a moment.
And now looking to the right side and keeping that tension there.
This is really an expansion,
Not a contraction.
This is a loosening,
This is a freeing,
A rebalancing.
And returning to center.
And finally looking downwards,
Holding that tension.
And breathing mindfully as you do that,
No need to hold your breath.
If this is painful,
That is fine.
And coming back to center.
So to finish off this practice and to bring some loving energy into our eyes that they deserve for all the work they've been doing.
Not just on our computer screens but also just taking in our environment and everything that we do.
Just taking a moment to give thanks to our eyes as they are such a vital part.
Now rub your hands together,
Creating some warmth.
And imagine that what you're creating here as you're rubbing your hands is the most caring and loving energy that you can create.
Imagine that when you finish rubbing your hands,
You'll be placing them on a friend's eyes to heal their strained eyes.
So keep rubbing your hands,
Generating this energy.
Now slightly separate your hands and feel the energy between your hands.
And now place the hands on your eyes,
On your closed eyes.
And transfer that love into your eyes,
Feeling them relax and feeling them soaking up this loving energy perfectly.
And then feel the love spread throughout your body.
And when you're ready,
Open your eyes.
