Do you feel like you don't get enough space to yourself on a day to day basis to just be? This mediation will guide you in creating an energetic boundary between you and everything happening around you. You will reconnect with your untouched self, explore your inner balance and regain a sense of autonomy. I've adapted this meditation from a therapeutic technique used for healthy boundary setting and embodiment. I invite you to follow the instructions inside and try the exercise in real life.

Welcome to your practice today.

My name is Violet.

Let's begin.

Go ahead and relax into a position that will serve you on your journey today.

You may sit on the floor with your legs crossed and your palms out.

Lay down comfortably on your bed or find another position that supports you in this moment right now.

Close your eyes and begin to take deep and relaxing breaths to settle into the here and now.

In a moment,

You'll find yourself on a journey that will free you of any frustration or stress that comes from the feeling of not having enough space in your life to just be.

It can be challenging to energetically break free from the things in our life that cause us stress and to quiet down the thoughts we have on repeat about our responsibilities and what we should and could be doing.

You'll find that in these moments,

Your mind feels heavy and occupied even when you are ready and willing to rest.

This meditation will help you declutter your mind,

Create a separation between you and whatever is taking up space in your thoughts,

And give you a tool to use when you're feeling like life's pressure is following you everywhere you go.

Now focus your attention on a part of your body where you feel resistance or tension.

Where do you hold your stress?

Keep your attention on this area and deepen your breath.

Breathe into this space,

Deep conscious breaths.

On your next inhale,

We'll breathe in together for a count of four,

Then hold for a count of four and breathe out for a count of four.

Empty your next breath and breathe in two,

Three,

Four.

Hold two,

Three,

Four,

Out two,

Three,

Four.

Breathe in two,

Three,

Four,

Hold two,

Three,

Four,

And very slowly exhale two,

Three,

Four.

Continue breathing to this count on your own for a little while longer.

You can decrease the length of the breath or increase it as it feels comfortable for you.

Now,

Return your breath to its natural rhythm.

In your mind's eye,

Visualize yourself standing in a place that you love,

That you feel connected to,

Where it's easy for you to leave the struggles of life behind and just be.

Maybe you've been here before,

Or maybe it's a place that you've always wanted to go to that resonates with you.

Take in your surroundings.

What do you notice around you?

Are there any distinct sounds,

Any smells that draw you in?

What is it about this place that feels calming and soothing to you?

Keeping this version of yourself in this beautiful place in your mind's eye,

Look down into your hand and see that you're holding a long bundle of string.

Take this string and begin to unravel it onto the ground into the shape of a circle.

Make it as big as it needs to be or as small as it needs to be.

Once you've created your circle,

Go ahead and sit in the middle of it.

This boundary that you've created is your space.

Make any adjustments to the size of your space,

Making it bigger or smaller until it feels comfortable,

Reassuring,

And safe to be inside of it.

In this space,

No one else and no unwelcome thinking is allowed in without your permission.

Sit here and take it in.

Is the space you need to feel completely at ease as big or as small as you thought it would be?

Absorb how it feels to have this energetic boundary around you,

All the space to yourself where nothing else can touch you.

How does it feel to be here now?

Has anything changed or shifted in your body?

I invite you now to repeat the following phrase to yourself and allow it to sink into every single cell of your being.

Breathing after me,

Say,

This is my space and no one and no thing can come in without my permission.

This is my space and no one and no thing can come in without my permission.

Simply take in how it feels to be here where nothing else can touch you.

Here you are separate from your worries and from whatever takes up your energy.

You can recharge and surrender here.

Know that this space is always here for you to return to.

You can come back here whenever you begin to feel like it's getting difficult to separate yourself from whatever is going on in your life.

You can even take a piece of string in real life and create this boundary to sit in and energetically separate yourself from whatever is going on around you.

Combine this real therapeutic technique along with this meditation to help you fully connect with this untouched space that exists inside of you.

Remember this boundary can be as big or as small as you need it to be to separate yourself from whatever is happening around you and no one and no thing can enter without your permission.

Take notice how the size of this boundary changes depending on what is going on in your life.

Some things take up more of our energy and internal space than others.

Stay here for as long as you need to today.

When you're ready,

Bring some movement back to the rest of your body.

Wiggle your fingers and toes and slowly open your eyes.

I loved the visualization of the string around me and the suggestion to use a real string to draw a boundary around me. This shifted my feelings of overwhelm from daily work stress, and past traumas to stepping into my own safe space where I choose what to let in and keep out. Soothing voice and background music too.
