Palden Lhamo: Light Beyond Fear

Meet & work with a powerful goddess in Tibetan Buddhism. She supports us in being light & shining brightly.. and her arrival is perfectly timed after the Saturn Pluto conjunction! I share her legend & meditation to invite Palden Lhamo into your life.

Hello and welcome.

Welcome to Everything is Energy.

I am recording just after the Saturn-Pluto conjunction in January 2020.

And as I mentioned earlier,

That date of that conjunction was really just a touch point.

We're going to be experiencing and unraveling those energies for the entire year to come.

And I got the nudge to record today because the energies right now are pretty intense.

We human beings are being invited to up-level more than we've ever experienced possible.

And as I've mentioned with the yin-yang,

Light-dark physics aspect of our universe,

When we're being asked to step into more light,

Guess what's right there before it?

Darkness.

Fear.

So we are also in times of intense fear,

And this might be something externally,

But it also might be something very deeply internal that's coming up for release.

And there's a goddess that I want to share with you today.

I got into Tibetan Buddhism.

Gosh,

I think I was probably about 12 years old,

And it's been near and dear to my heart.

And you know who came through for me in my meditation this morning?

It's a goddess called,

I think I,

I hope I pronounced her name right,

Falden Lamo.

And if you can have a look at the image for this recording or the image in the blog post,

You'll see this goddess doesn't look the way we typically think a goddess should.

She's got this blue or black skin,

Depending on how she's depicted.

Her skin's often speckled with blood,

Her hair is crowned with skulls.

She's got these menacing,

Crazy looking monster eyes,

And oftentimes she has baby skulls and just crazy things all around her.

And so this is probably the most venerated goddess in Tibetan Buddhism,

But something interesting to consider was when the Western world first came to Tibet,

They found in so many of the homes and the monasteries and the sacred places,

This woman,

Huge pictures of her,

And they did not know what to think.

So when the Western world first met this goddess,

They called her the great she devil because she looked pretty scary.

But when we look to what her name means,

Falden Lamo,

It means glorious goddess.

And I want to tell you an abbreviated version of her story,

And then I'll get to the activation and my point.

So in the beginning,

This woman was the most beautiful woman in the world.

And it was said that every man,

Every God begged her to be his wife,

His queen.

And she ended up choosing the most esteemed king on the planet.

He was located in Southern India and she bore two sons for this king.

And she came to understand that this king had a practice.

Once a year,

He would behead a young child and he did this because he felt that it warded off all sorts of diseases and wars and poverty.

And when she found out about this,

Falden Lamo was horrified and she said,

Hey,

You need to stop this.

That's not a cool thing to do.

And he said,

No,

You know,

One kid as a sacrifice for all of this prosperity,

For all of this wellbeing,

It's worth it.

And he just sort of pushed her away.

And she was really upset by this.

And this,

This goes on over the course of years.

And sometime I forget around the third or the fourth year that she came to and she kept it.

Oh,

And in between these couple of years,

She,

She would,

Right when they were about to kill this sacrificial child,

She even put her own children to be killed.

And the king was horrified and he called her crazy and he said,

How dare you put my child to be sacrificed?

So around the third or fourth year that this was happening,

The child was beheaded and sacrificed and she went crazy.

She immediately after the,

She couldn't stand the injustice.

So after this child was sacrificed,

She,

It said that she took her own child,

One of them and bit off its head.

And then she took the other child and gutted it from head to toe.

And the king was horrified and she was horrified and she fled.

She took nothing but the skin of her children.

One was apparently some sort of a cloak and the other one,

She,

She valued these kids,

But she took their remains with her and,

And the king,

Well,

It worked.

The king stopped sacrificing young children for his own prosperity.

And so this goddess was still very beautiful.

And even though she was horrified with herself and her behavior,

Pretty much every male on the planet still wanted to marry her.

And eventually she was whisked off by the king of the demons and the king of the demons lived in this horrible land of cannibalism and cruelty.

So she was pretty upset.

So for years and years,

She was languishing in this sort of hellish place.

And one night she stole the king of the demons sword and his sack of diseases.

And she fought off all of his crazy monsters and she ran screaming back to earth.

And so emotionally and psychologically terrified by her life,

She made her home on a cremation ground and she resolved that her beauty was never going to again drive her to be ruined.

So she proceeded to destroy her beauty.

She took all the ashes and she rubbed them all over her skin.

She tore all her clothes up.

She,

Her hair turned into crazy mats.

She grew her nails long.

She stopped eating.

She became this sort of sack of bones.

And then she really fell even deeper.

She felt like committing suicide and she cried out to the heavens something like,

If anyone out there can hear me and give me a reason to live or give me any comfort,

I need you to come right now.

Otherwise I'm going to kill myself.

And immediately the Buddha of compassion appeared at her side and he told her,

He said,

Beautiful man,

I have a very important mission for you because you have met and you have slayed all the demons.

You can subdue any menace with your flaming sword and your sack of ills.

You know,

Every dirty trick in the book,

You have no fear.

I need you to be the shield for all those who follow the path of compassion.

And tears weld in her eyes.

And she looked at the Buddha of compassion and said,

You trust me to protect the children of light after everything that I've done in my life.

And the Buddha looked at her and said,

Yes,

Of course,

Who else but you,

You know,

Light and dark and you are of the light.

So it becomes a little bit more clear why the Tibetans,

Every single sacred place and valued place and home had her visage,

Her image,

Invoked her to protect themselves as they saw themselves as children of the light.

And what we're experiencing right now,

The energies that we're being asked to step into are supporting us in facing our deepest fears.

This goddess is here to support us in becoming light and stepping into our path of light.

And I hope that you can feel her presence right now.

And I just love that when I when I came to understand that when the Dalai Lama escaped the Chinese occupation,

This is back in the late 1950s,

He only took a handful of things with him.

One of the things he took was her image.

It was that valuable to the Dalai Lama.

So I,

I just want to share with you right now that she's here.

And for me,

Instead of the colors of black,

I see her as this beautiful indigo light,

Indigo fused with red with golden light at her center.

And she knows how to slay any fear.

So I invite you to formally invite her into your energetic space.

Hopefully you can feel that she was already there.

This woman,

This goddess,

Falden Lamo,

The most beautiful goddess and the protector of beings of light.

I invite you to ask her for support and protection.

In whatever comes to mind for you right now,

She's here to help each and every one of us.

And her powers are needed now more than ever on our planet.

And guess who's ready and able to serve?

Falden Lamo.

Something else that's coming to mind is you're communing with her.

Many consider her a Dakini.

And in Tibetan Buddhism,

This is an interesting concept that's been somewhat misused.

A Dakini is seen as a female goddess.

There are several to many Dakini.

She is one.

She cuts through illusory deception.

Someone who becomes limitless.

So this is,

You can imagine her energies being able to cut through fear,

Darkness.

And while Dakini is not necessarily restricted to women,

It's something that's been used,

Especially in the Western world,

To compliment women.

She's in my mother is a Dakini or my wife is a Dakini or that powerful woman is a Dakini.

And in the words,

Well,

Kondo Rinpoche is a female Rinpoche and she likes to talk about the Dakini being not always a compliment.

And that's why I believe that Falden Lamo is possibly the most quintessential embodiment of Dakini.

She is a goddess who cuts through illusion,

Deception,

All the ways that we keep ourselves from being light.

And this is also so in sync with the energies of Saturn.

Saturn brings with us the lessons of understanding and responsibility.

And what we're really coming to understand is all the ways that we are powerful and all the ways that we keep ourselves from our own power.

All right,

So let's get to a formal practice.

Find a quiet sacred space.

You can sit or lie.

Let your spine be straight.

Breathe in,

Come into your body,

Come into this moment and exhale.

Breathing in next,

Come into your heart center.

Exhale clears you out.

One more breath,

Breathe into your solar plexus and let your exhale clear you out.

And we've already invited this goddess to be with us.

But formally,

One more time,

Invite Falden Lamo to bring her energy strongly and brightly to you and feel this beautiful indigo light,

Indigo with hues of gold and red.

And feel the depth and the power that she brings.

And start to understand her ability to cut through illusion,

Deception and fear.

And now I invited you to start a conversation with her earlier.

Really heartfeltly converse with this goddess.

Let her know what's up.

What is the thing that you feel is blocking you most right now?

Bring it to her.

In your heart,

In your inner world,

Tell her about it.

And as you speak,

Allow yourself to become as emotional or as charged about what's coming up for you as you need to.

There's nothing to hide from this goddess.

The more you share,

The more you open,

The more she can support and help you clear this deception.

Now that you've spoken and shared your heart with this beautiful goddess,

I'm being shown she's inviting you to come with her.

Whether in some sense she's riding on a horse,

But as she's commonly depicted,

She's almost soaring on a cloud,

But she's inviting you to take this journey across time and space.

So whether you're under her wing or on this horse beside her,

Allow her to soar into the heavens and then back down to earth.

And this story you just told her,

This goddess who knows every trick in the book is coming with you,

Is guiding you to face your fears.

So allow her to travel to these areas of hurt and pain and illusion and watch as she slays these fears effortlessly.

And whether she's galloping on a horse or on this magic carpet of a cloud,

She's got you with her and she is your guardian.

She is the guardian of all who walk in the light.

So just allow her to continue to show you she's going across time and space around the world to all these spaces,

All these experiences that have left you separated from yourself.

And she's just clearing them,

Blasting them through.

And notice how with her protection as you are coming to meet these fears,

It's almost like there was this dark room full of scary cobwebs and then when you shine the light on it,

They all fall away.

The deception clears and there's nothing but light.

So allow her a little bit more time to support you,

To help you in facing your fears.

Wonderful,

And then back to where you're at right now.

She's bringing you back to the room that you're listening to this recording.

And as she brings you back,

Feel the love and the compassion and the appreciation that she has for you.

And offer her a gesture of thanks,

Whether it's your hand over your heart or just connecting to her heart and feel that she is empowered and honored to be able to help you.

So this is her purpose.

This is why she's here and she wants you to know in this Dakini aspect,

Everyone in the universe might not always like her,

But she is here in service of you as a being of light who is remembering your light and remembering your power.

And she wants you to know that you can call on her anytime,

Anywhere.

And if the Dalai Lama valued her enough to be one of his few possessions that he took when he fled his country,

Well,

Even those of us who are working through our modern day fears can feel the charge of energy of how powerful Falden Lamo is.
