The Navel Chakra is associated with will, power, self-confidence, and generosity. It likes heat, so after a brief introduction, we start with a warming breathing technique (Kapalabhati Pranayama). We then focus on how strong and self-confident we have felt recently. To strengthen the Navel Chakra, we finish with chanting Ram (the animal associated with the chakra). Transcript

Today we are doing the Navel Chakra Meditation.

And this chakra represents self-confidence,

Power,

Generosity.

In preparation,

Take up an actively seated position with a straight spine and just tuck in your chin a little bit so the crown of your head is pointing upwards.

You know though it is an active position,

Make sure you are comfortable and close your eyes.

And while I do an introduction,

Just resume normal breathing,

You only need to focus on my voice.

Now the navel chakra,

Despite its name,

Is located just above the navel,

Where your solar plexus is.

The color of this chakra is yellow and the element is fire.

And this chakra likes heat.

In Sanskrit the chakra is called manipura,

Which means city of joys.

The animal associated with the chakra is a ram,

It motivates as a strong wheel,

Determination.

It lives by its instinct and gut feeling.

When you have a balanced navel chakra,

You will feel strong,

Joyful,

Generous and with a sense of purpose.

Now if you have an imbalanced navel chakra,

You may experience feelings of greed,

Powerlessness,

A sense of lacking.

On a physical level you may notice poor digestion and metabolism.

In terms of mental health,

This could present as a victim mentality or controlling behaviors.

Now to connect with our navel chakra,

We'll do a warming breathing exercise.

It is called kapabala bhati pranayama,

Skull shining breath.

Touch your forefinger and thumbs together and then let your hands rest in your lap or on the knees.

And please listen to my instruction first before you get started.

You're going to inhale and exhale through the nose,

Whereby your inhale is passive or just normal,

Natural,

But your exhale is quick and sharp through the nose.

So if I demonstrate,

I take a normal breath in,

Sharp and quick breath out and letting the air flow into the nose naturally,

Out.

So when you're ready,

Start normal inhale,

Sharp and quick exhale,

Bow through the nose.

You can do this as quick or slow as you like,

But of course mostly applies to that inhale.

If at any point you feel dizzy or uncomfortable,

Return to normal breathing.

Now you may feel your body starts to warm up in this very active exhale.

The last minutes of breathing.

A final breath before returning to our normal breathing.

Let the air flow in and out of the nose.

Realize the breath.

Now when you've warmed up your body in this specific chakra,

I would like you to spend a moment to consider how strong and self-confident you have recently been.

And as always,

This is an observation,

Not a judgement.

You've experienced any feelings of powerlessness or a general lack of anything really.

To strengthen this chakra,

It is a great start to become even more generous by sharing with others.

And you can be generous in many different ways.

You can be generous with your time,

With a listening ear,

Your full attention,

With smiles.

So if you feel this chakra is not so strong at the moment,

Start by sharing with others and see what happens.

Another way to strengthen this chakra is by saying the word RAM,

The animal associated with the chakra,

Out loud like a chant.

And again I will demonstrate first.

Normal inhale and then only out.

Mah-ihh.

.

.

.

.

Brand.

Train.

So start when you are ready.

And after you focused on the sound of REM for 3 times,

Then start focusing on what this sound does in your body.

The R starts somewhere in the mouth.

The vibrations travel down through chest with the A to solar plexus with the M.

Become very aware of the vibration in the upper chest and middle chest.

Breathing in and out.

Whenever your mind drifts,

Bring it back to that vibration.

Connect with your solar plexus.

Feel it warming up.

Then finish with one final REM on the exhale.

Return to normal breathing.

Observe your breath.

Any changes.

Observe your body.

Notice any sensations of warmth,

Tingling,

Energy.

And then say to yourself,

I value myself.

I am enough.

I recharge.

You may open your eyes or keep them closed just for a little while longer.

Please remain seated for just a couple of moments.

Namaste.
