Welcome to this session Journaling for Carers.

And although I have developed it with people who care with someone who lives with dementia in mind,

Anyone who cares for someone,

Someone they love,

Is welcome to join this session.

Have pen and paper or your laptop at hand so that you can start writing once we get to the journaling part.

Let's begin with a brief relaxing meditation.

Take up your meditation position.

Straight back.

Chin slightly tucked.

One of the head pointing towards the ceiling.

Sitting cross legged or on a chair.

Hands on the belly or the lap.

Palms facing upwards.

When you're ready gently closing the eyes.

Taking a moment to check in with yourself.

What's the status of your mind?

And then consciously bring your attention to the body.

How it is sitting.

How it feels.

And just for a little bit of a release join me in taking three deeper inhales and then exhaling with a sigh.

I'll demonstrate first.

Do this three times.

Deep inhale and exhaling through the mouth with a sigh.

Repeat two more times in your own tempo.

And if you've finished just return to normal breathing.

And gently open the eyes.

Picking up your writing utensils.

And I will give you five sentences that you are asked to complete.

And just make it an observational practice where you notice what happens within you.

If it feels like you're going off topic don't worry about it.

That's part of the practice.

Just write what you feel you need to write.

After each sentence that I'm asking you to complete I will be silent for around two minutes giving you an opportunity to just free flow and follow what's going on inside of you.

If you need longer you can pause the recording at any time when I announce that I'm moving on to the next sentence.

This is your practice.

Let's get started.

The first sentence to complete is I need more clarity in regards to.

What's my talking about?

.

.

.

As we move on to the second sentence to complete.

I need more love too.

I need more love too.

I need more love too.

I need more love too.

Start wrapping up your writings for this part.

Maybe take a moment to close your eyes and take a couple of conscious breaths.

In between writing.

Third statement.

And this consists of two parts.

I need more appreciation from.

And what does that appreciation look like?

I need more love too.

I need more love too.

I need more love too.

About half a minute to go.

I need more appreciation from.

And what does that look like?

Finishing up this section or pausing the recording.

Statement number four.

I need more freedom too.

I need more freedom too.

I need more freedom too.

I need more freedom too.

And start finishing up this section.

Moving on to the last statement.

I need more security in.

I need more security in.

I need more security in.

Final minute and again if you feel you're going off topic just let it happen.

If you feel you are finished or you have run out of time because of things you need to do.

We will wrap up this session together.

If you are in a flow and feel there is much more to write and you do have the time.

Just keep going.

For those who would like to finish up put pen and paper aside.

Gently close the eyes.

And return to a comfortable meditation position.

And let's finish how we started by taking in three deeper inhales,

Sighing on the exhales in your own time.

Return to normal breathing.

And remain seated for a little while longer if you like or gently open the eyes.

And let's take a deep breath in and out.

Great! Just what I needed to start my day on this rainy, dark morning. Namaste!
