Remembering Your Innate Goodness
So often we focus on our limitations, our perceived faults or imperfections. Every now and then, it is wise to remember that each day we perform both big and small acts of goodness. During this meditation you will remember these acts, breathing them into your mind, body and heart so that they may help you grow a deep and enduring sense of self-worth.

A warm welcome to you.
So often we get caught in the habit of thinking and feeling that we aren't enough.
Perhaps we aren't attractive enough,
Fit enough,
Slim enough,
Young enough.
Maybe we aren't good enough at our job or at one of the many roles we play in life,
As a friend,
Parent,
Child or partner.
When we come from this place of not being enough,
We judge ourselves harshly,
Our inner critic becomes loud,
And we often become caught in cycles of always striving to be more,
To have more.
When our thoughts,
Beliefs and actions come from this place of not enough,
Our sense of confidence and self-worth erodes like sandy cliffs by the ocean,
One wave at a time.
When this way of seeing ourselves becomes so ingrained,
It shapes the actions we take in our life,
It affects our relationships and ultimately our lives.
So during this practice we shall enjoy a well-earned break from all the needing to be more.
We shall rest in the peace that comes from present moment awareness,
The peace that comes from remembering our innate goodness,
In remembering that we are already enough.
The quiet comfort that is born from reminding ourselves that each day we perform small acts of goodness that contribute to our own well-being,
And to the well-being of those we love and the world in which we live.
My name is Fleur Chambers and it is my pleasure to guide you towards this state of peace,
Towards this opportunity of remembering your innate goodness.
So beginning by closing down your eyes and allowing yourself a moment to arrive into a place of comfort.
Comfort is key in our practice together today.
And as you settle in a little more,
Can you welcome all the parts of you who have been present in your life lately.
Perhaps you can welcome your tired self,
Yourself who has been feeling not enough,
Yourself who has been striving to get somewhere,
To achieve the next thing,
Or to be something more than who you are right now.
And just offering all these parts of you a warm hearted smile.
Taking a deep breath into this sense of smile,
Allowing it to soften across your eyes,
To soften your jaw,
Your shoulders,
And your stomach.
Enjoying a few more deep breaths here,
Breathing deep into this act of welcoming and softening into the many parts of you.
Here in this practice you are safe to be whoever you need to be.
And casting your gentle awareness onto the ebb and flow of your breath.
Just as the tide washes over the sand,
Your breath washes over you.
With each breath relaxing a little more.
With each breath coming home to yourself a little more.
Coming home to your innate goodness.
Inviting you now to hold in your mind's eye a time when you felt happy and content.
A time when you felt like in that moment you were exactly where you needed to be.
You were enough.
Perhaps you enjoyed a simple but special moment with family or friends.
Maybe you were out in nature or connecting with those you love.
Spending some time now taking in the details of this memory.
Was it day or night?
Were you inside or outside?
Who was there?
What exactly were you doing?
What was your body language like?
How can you tell that you were happy and content?
Breathing into this memory a little more now.
With each breath allowing this memory of you as happy,
Content and enough to sink deep into who you are.
Being curious about how this feels for you.
And inviting you now to hold in your mind's eye a time when you acted from a place of inner goodness or strength.
Maybe you were kind to someone in need.
Perhaps you stood up for someone or for what you believe in.
Did you act in a way that was aligned with your deep values?
Once again taking in the details of this memory.
Was it day or night?
Were you inside or outside?
Who was there?
What were you doing that revealed your basic goodness?
Really connecting with this part of you here.
This part of you that is good,
That is strong,
That is wise.
Breathing this sense of goodness deep within you.
Noticing any sense of peace,
Of relaxation that comes from within this act of connection.
Drawing your awareness now to the ground below.
And noticing the parts of your body that connect with the earth.
If you can really sinking into this felt sense of connecting with the earth.
Taking a deep breath in and as you exhale letting go a little more into the ground below.
Noticing that as you let go a little more the ground rises up to meet you,
To support you.
And imagining now that the earth holds within its memory all the times you felt happy and content.
All the times you felt enough.
All the times you acted from a place of innate goodness,
Strength and wisdom.
So each time you connect with the earth below you are also connecting with these memories and these parts of you.
Resting here in this moment of connection with the earth and with your innate goodness.
In one final act breathing this sense of innate goodness and self worth deep within you.
Imagining this feeling moving down your throat,
Deep into your chest,
Filling your lungs and heart.
As you breathe this sense of self worth travelling deep into your belly.
Moving into your hips and pelvis really landing there.
This sense of self worth moving all the way down your legs.
Arriving at your feet and ten toes.
Each toe filled with sensation.
This energy moving across the width of your shoulders.
Trickling down your arms.
Arriving at your hands and ten fingers.
Each finger filled with the sensation of your own self worth.
Feeling alive with your own innate goodness.
Feeling the energy of it.
Setting yourself an intention now for how you will connect with this part of you in the days to come.
Sealing this intention with one deep breath.
Offering you a final moment to absorb the wisdom of your reflections.
Beginning to offer your body some gentle movements.
Opening your eyes to the space you are in.
Whenever you are feeling like you are not enough or like you have lost your way you can pause,
Feel your feet on the earth and connect with these memories and this felt sense of being enough.
Of your innate goodness.
