This is a profound practice inviting us to connect to the breath and body and cultivate a "beginner's mind." In doing so, we make space for greater opportunity, growth, and wisdom as we become more open, aware, curious and alive.

There's an expression from Zen practice that says,

Not knowing is most intimate.

So let's begin by letting go of what we know,

Letting go of all our ideas of being right or doing it right,

Not worrying or being concerned about being an expert meditator or expert human being.

Begin by noticing the breath,

The body,

Your thinking mind.

Letting yourself not know.

You don't know what your next thoughts will be,

What your next feelings will be,

What your next breath will be.

How beautiful to just not know.

It takes courage to not know what will happen,

To let go of all of our stories and explanations and predictions.

We are brilliant storytellers and predictors of the future.

It takes some practice,

The practice of not being an expert,

To let it go,

To drop in and embrace the reality that no one knows what will happen in the next moment.

Not knowing connects us,

Opens us,

Softens us.

This is our common humanity.

All of what we know comes from not knowing.

Allow yourself to feel vulnerable and at the same time to feel your strength and courage.

Stay with your breath.

Stay with the body.

Slowly breathing in,

Breathing out.

Enjoying relishing in this practice of not being an expert.

This was a god nod for me this morning. I was literally just journaling what was I an expert in? Your life-giving words just distilled my skills into one phrase. I am an anti-expert. I remain curious and interested in order to remain interesting and inspired!

Thank you for this timely reminder. I spent my day questioning why people were so unable to just do the right thing, but it was about me learning to let go of control I think.

Love it!! So different! The opposite of we used to hear.... we really don’t need to know everything.

Who knew you could get so much sweet relief in 2 minutes, LOL?! Reminds me of the meme, “We need to let go of things, simply because they are heavy.’ Thank you for the welcome respite...
