You said something to someone,
Just one line,
But your mind keeps thinking about it for hours.
Or you want to say something to a larger audience,
But you keep thinking,
Should I say or no?
This is a problem of an overthinking or an over analyzing mind.
A mind which is anxious all the time.
Is this one of your problems?
Let's try to evaluate why is this happening.
Before that,
Let's make our body comfortable.
Take a comfortable meditation posture.
Let your feet be grounded,
Your eyes closed and your back is straight.
Take three deep breaths and settle down your body.
Do a quick scan of your body starting from the top.
Scan your head and see how your hair feels like.
See if there is any tension on your forehead.
Try and release all your tension from there.
With every exhale,
Release the tension from your body.
See how your face is.
Is there any tension around your cheeks?
Your mouth?
Your eyes?
Release it.
Come down to your shoulders and neck and observe how are they feeling.
Do you feel the urge to move them?
Just relax.
With every exhale,
Release your tension and let your body do its own course.
Go down and feel your back and release any tension which is there.
Don't rush through this process.
This process really helps you to make your body calm and ready for the meditation ahead.
Feel the sensation when your hips touches the cushion or the floor.
Just feel the sensation.
Feel your arms now.
Start from your upper arm and go down to your elbow and till your fingers.
How you feel it?
Do you feel sensation or you feel calmness?
Let go of everything and let your body adjust.
Feel your legs now starting from your thighs,
Your knees and your feet and take a deep breath if you need and let go of all your tensions.
Think to your mind any situation where you said something to someone but kept thinking about it for so many hours or where someone said something to you and you kept analyzing for a long period of time or think of a situation where you wanted to do something but you kept analyzing if it is correct or not or any other situation where your mind was anxious.
Thinking about it,
How did it make you feel?
Did it fill you with anxiety thinking if you are correct or not?
Did it fill you with fear of what might happen if I do so?
Did it made your heart pump really really fast?
Did it make you unsure of your own capability?
Clearly,
This is not a good state of mind which makes us anxious,
Fearful and we start doubting ourselves.
What is the reason of all this?
Our mind is a monkey mind and it is not habituated to be in balance.
In situation like these,
We are not able to balance our mind.
What we actually do is this.
We over value or exaggerate the positive qualities of the other person or the other situation.
We think that person is so much better than me.
He has a nice car,
A great personality or he is such a great learned man.
He has achieved so much and I have nothing.
Or we think that this situation,
This thing is too big for me.
This huge stage is only meant for eminent people and I cannot do it.
At the same time,
We over stress or exaggerate our negative qualities or undermine our self by thinking our negative qualities.
We think I am not smart enough.
I have failed way too many times.
I don't have a luxurious car or a great job.
I have never done this before and I will not be able to do this.
I cannot compete with someone so big.
Deep down,
This is what we do.
We over value the positive qualities of the person and the situation.
And on the other hand,
We reduce our own potential which leads us in this circle of over thinking and over analyzing situations,
Filling us with anxiety,
Fear and self doubt.
But this is absolutely wrong.
Buddha discovered the reality that every being is pure and has the same capability to achieve and be happy.
Think about it.
Deep down,
We are all same and we want the same things.
Whether it is rich or poor,
Whether it is man or woman,
Whether it is white or brown,
Whether it is tall or small,
We are all same and we all are capable of achieving the maximum happiness.
This question of who is better is just in our minds.
Now look inside you at the center of your heart and say with me,
My life is full and content.
I am happy and confident.
I have my own strengths and my own flaws.
Others also have their strengths and their flaws.
But we are all equal and have the same basic goodness in us.
Repeat it again from the center of your heart.
My life is full and content.
I am happy and confident.
I have my own strengths and my own flaws.
Others also have their strengths and their flaws.
But we are all equal and have the same basic goodness in us.
Every time you feel you are over analyzing,
Repeat this until and unless it becomes a part of you.
This is true meditation.
Remember,
Self-love is the highest love that you can provide to this world.
If you cannot love yourself,
You will not be able to love others.
First,
Learn to love yourself and be confident in your strengths and your weaknesses.
Because remember always,
Your life is full and content.
You are happy and confident.
You have your own strength and your own flaws like everyone else in this world.
Love yourself always.
Now take a deep breath,
Give a long sigh and remember to keep loving yourself.
Thank you so much for meditating with me.
