Hello and welcome.

My name is Kazaya Gibbons.

I'm a teacher here on Insight Timer and this is your Cloak of Power meditation.

This is a seated meditation with the intention of helping you to learn to access your own confidence.

The process we're using is known as anchoring and an anchor is just something that you can use to help you to access a certain state.

We install unconscious anchors all the time.

Have you ever been taken back to a certain memory and the feelings associated with it whenever you hear a certain song or smell a certain smell?

That song or that smell is an unconscious anchor and reminds your body mind to recreate a heightened state that you were in when you first heard it or smelt it.

The kind of anchoring we're going to be doing today is a mixture of physiology and visualization.

I love to use physiology and anchoring because it's something that we carry with us all the time and because your physiology at any one time can of course help to create and reinforce as well as recall states.

When I talk about state I'm talking about state of being.

So the thoughts,

Feelings and general beingness of how you are in any particular moment.

So confidence is one such state.

I've also added in a little visualization because why not?

So get yourself comfortable and ready for your meditation today.

Be aware of anything you've brought with you to your meditation space.

Thoughts,

Emotions,

Sensations.

And if there's anything you don't need in this moment you can gently ask it to leave.

And then notice the room around you.

Notice the light.

Notice any sounds inside the room and outside.

Be aware that these may continue throughout the meditation and that that's okay.

You can afford to let them just drift on past.

Being present in your experience but not the focus of your attention.

And if you have thoughts coming and going in your mind allow that to be the case for those also.

Letting them drift past without having to be the object of your awareness.

And now bring your awareness to your body and to your breathing.

And set your intention to receiving confidence with this meditation.

And now I wonder if you can bring to mind someone that you know who is really confident.

It may even be yourself in certain situations.

If there are parts of your life where you regularly feel confident.

Or where you've known confidence before.

But if not it's fine to imagine someone else.

What matters here is that you're imagining someone really confident.

And now imagine that that person is sitting opposite you.

In front of you being the confident star that they are.

Notice what it is about them that tells you they are confident.

What is their posture like?

Their breathing.

What is their facial expression?

Allow yourself to begin to mirror their physiology.

Adopt that confident posture.

Change your breathing to match their confident breath.

What is their facial expression?

What kind of thoughts might they be thinking?

What's it like if you try having one of those thoughts yourself?

As this process occurs you notice that they are wearing a cloak.

Notice the cloak.

The weave of the cloth.

The colours.

Notice how they seem to draw their strength from it.

You are now in really deep repose with this person as you continue to mirror their confident posture.

Their breath.

Their facial expression.

Smiling,

They unclasp the cloak and with a swish place it over your shoulders.

You may notice how confident and secure it makes you feel.

You may also notice that all of the other aspects of that confident state.

The physiology.

The feelings.

The thoughts.

Seem to magnify as the cloak settles on your shoulders.

It is light and comfortable.

And now you find that you can even see the kinds of things which that confident person sees.

And hear the kinds of things that confident person hears.

You are fully in this state of confidence.

Can you imagine now what it would be like if it were even stronger?

Even more sure.

Supported by the magic of the cloak.

And then when you've got to this state of peak confidence,

You let yourself relax and let it go.

Allowing the cloak to fall from your shoulders.

And shaking yourself off if you wish.

The cloak is yours.

It is a gift and you can carry it with you from now on.

A mental and energetic resource to bring you back to that confident state whenever you wish.

And so you decide to try it on again so that you become used to accessing that confident state just by putting on the cloak.

So coming into your state of intention.

Place the cloak back on your shoulders.

You recognise its light and supportive touch.

And invite in the physiology of that confident state.

You may even find that your physiology starts to change naturally as soon as you put on that cloak.

Your posture finds its way to confidence again.

Your breathing changes to reflect that confidence.

Even your facial features move to express that inner confidence.

As you do this,

Every cell in your body begins to resonate with confidence.

And as that feeling increases,

So you find that confident thoughts find a home in your brain.

And your vision and audition may even change slightly.

So that you see and hear through a filter of confidence.

Allow that process to increase to a peak.

And now say to yourself,

I am.

And you may find that I am confident.

Or I am powerful.

Or I am strong.

Or I am fearless.

Or you may just want to open your inner awareness now to that I am.

And then allow yourself to release that state.

Taking off the cloak and letting your body,

Mind and personal energy relax.

Letting go now of those words and any visualization.

Letting your body a little to refresh your energy if you wish.

And I remind you once again that that cloak is yours.

It is a gift and belongs to you now.

And it is a resource that you can carry with you everywhere.

A cloak which protects and empowers you in the situations where you choose to use it.

And I wonder now if you can imagine a time at some point in the future when you would like to be able to take your confidence into a situation.

And I wonder if you can imagine yourself putting on the cloak in that situation.

And see yourself becoming more confident.

More powerful.

And able to handle anything in that situation with ease.

And when you've got that and you know that you can use the cloak wherever and whenever you like.

You can store the cloak away somewhere.

Some people like to imagine it shrinking down and putting it in their pocket.

But you can store it wherever it will be easy for you to access whenever you want.

And then come back to the room.

Return to your breathing and your body.

Aware of any sensations.

Thoughts and emotions.

Aware of the light in the room and the sounds near and far that you can hear.

Ready to return now to a state of full awareness as the meditation draws to a close.

My recommendation is to repeat this exercise often as the more you do it the stronger the association becomes between your confidence,

Confident physiology and the cloak.

Very soon you should find yourself able to summon this confidence simply by imagining that cloak around your shoulders.

For now you can release a visualization,

Move away from your meditation space and go about your day in all your confident power.
