It is very easy to give time and attention to people around us,
But this is not the case when it comes to the most important being in our lives,
Ourselves.
Although sometimes our soul is screaming for a moment with us,
We don't pay attention to it because it seems uncomfortable or boring to sit in silence and listen to what she or he has to say.
This exercise is an invitation to come close to ourselves without the music or other external stimuli that distract us from this beautiful encounter.
When we befriend ourselves unconditionally,
We discover our real home,
Our inner refuge,
A place we can access during times of conflict to find peace,
Wisdom,
And insight.
Let your body be in a comfortable posture,
Dignified and alert.
Lower your chin slightly and whenever you are ready,
Close your eyes.
Become aware of your body.
Notice if there are areas of discomfort in your body.
If this is the case,
Allow them to relax.
Now connect with your breathing.
In your mind's eye,
Follow the air softly flowing in and out.
Take two deep and slow relaxing breaths.
Feel how the air coming in expands the body and creates space.
And feel the body relaxing when breathing out.
Continue breathing normally and stay connected to your body.
Now,
Pay attention to that point that you consider your center.
It can be your chest or your belly or any other special part in your body that you feel is your center.
Placing one or both hands over this place,
Take three deep,
Slow relaxing breaths.
Breathing in,
Visualize,
Feel,
Or imagine your heart,
Mind,
And body totally open to receive,
To reconnect with this sacred place.
And breathing out,
Feel how this connection becomes stable and stronger.
Continue breathing normally,
But with each breath,
Feel how this connection is reinforced.
You are one with your center.
Feel the safety of this place.
Feel the groundedness,
The solidity that this connection provides you.
Being totally present,
Stay connected to this experience,
Allowing everything to be without any judgment or elaboration.
If discomfort appears in those emotions or thoughts,
Notice them and gently take one slow,
Deep,
Relaxing breath and allow this tension to dissolve.
There is nothing better to do than being here right now.
This is a loving moment,
A self-compassionate moment.
If during this connection a message from your inner being wants to get through,
Allow it to emerge.
Stay connected with your being,
Present,
Alert,
And with curiosity.
Let go of the experience.
It's time to come back.
Notice your breath.
Take one deep,
Slow,
Relaxing breath and with the end of the exhalation,
Connect with your body.
Notice space around you,
The sounds.
I will end with a phrase by Meister Eckhart.
A human being has so many skins inside,
Covering the depths of the heart.
We know so many things,
But we don't know ourselves.
Why thirty or forty skins or hides as thick and hard as an ox or bear cover the soul.
Go into your own ground and learn to know yourself there.
Thank you.
