We hear the word "surrender" and wonder what it is - who do we surrender to - how do we do this? More importantly, why? Surrender is all about giving over to life. It is allowing life to support us, love us, nurture us, and guide us. It is taking the 'human mind' out of our stress and decisions - out of our healing - so that life can step in - flow through and allow us to heal. Surrendering to life is all about coming to the moment and opening to space to allow life to step in.

Transcript

Gently working with breath.

Working into a deep surrender meditation.

Breathing it in.

Breathing it out.

Getting comfortable finding your space.

Is it sitting?

Is it laying down?

Breathing it in.

Breathing it out.

Slowly,

Gently adjusting yourself to where you are.

Allowing a calm.

Allowing the peace.

Allowing silence to begin.

Breathing it in.

Breathing it out.

Softening into your position.

Breathing it in.

Breathe it out and settle.

Soften your body against the ground into the chair.

Into your position.

Long breath in.

Long release out.

And allow yourself a deep sigh.

Breathing in.

We draw our breath all the way through the body down to our feet.

And with every breath we feel our feet.

From the toes over the soles of the feet to the heel across the top of the foot.

Filling breath by breath.

And with every breath we feel,

We feel.

Feel into the feet.

Feel into the journey they've walked.

Feel into how far they've come.

Breath by breath.

Filling the feet.

Feeling the feet.

Nice long breath in.

A deep release out.

And as you release,

Release the feet.

Release the steps you've taken.

Release the past you have come from.

And move now to the legs.

Breathing it in.

Breathing to the legs from the ankles all the way to the top of the hips.

Breathing through the back of the legs.

Down the front of the legs.

Breathe in a spiral circling the legs.

Breathing it in.

Breathing it out to fill the legs breath by breath.

And as you fill the legs,

Feel them.

Feel into them all that they have carried.

The journey they have been on.

The weight they have bared.

Breathing it in.

Filling.

Feeling.

And breathing it out.

A nice long breath in.

And as you breathe out,

Release the legs.

Let them soften to the ground.

And we move on now to our hips and pelvis.

Breathing in.

Filling into the hips.

Opening the pelvis.

Breathing out.

As you breathe in,

Allow a spiral breath to fill through the hips.

To enter into the pelvis.

To enter into the pelvis.

With each breath out releasing any pain,

Any suffering,

Any trauma this area may have experienced.

Breathing it in.

Breathing it in.

And breathing it out.

Breathing it in.

Into all the life that is created.

All that you have supported through your hips.

Breathing out.

Release.

Soften.

And open.

Breathing it in.

And breathing it out.

Releasing.

And moving now to our spine.

A long breath from the base of the spine all the way up to the Madonna.

Breathing a spiral breath that circles the spine.

Cleansing,

Clearing,

Connecting to the energy that runs through our spine.

With each breath out allowing each vertebrae to release,

To unfold and to soften to the ground.

Breathing it in.

Travelling the length of the spine.

Drawing that breath.

Breathing it out and releasing and allowing that breath to soften to the ground.

A long breath in.

A deep release out.

And we move on to the stomach.

Breathing it in.

Allowing the stomach to fill like a giant balloon.

Filling that breath.

Extending the stomach.

And with every breath you release.

Allowing the stomach to soften down through the spine to the ground.

Breathing it in.

Filling all of the organs.

Filling breath by breath.

Filling into the stomach and releasing and allowing each to release and soften all the way down to the spine.

Breathing it in.

And breathing it out.

Breathing it in.

And as you breathe out releasing the stomach.

Letting go of any pain,

Of any discomfort.

Softening.

And we move to our chest.

And we breathe it in.

Opening.

Expanding.

Filling through the chest.

Through the rib cage.

Into the diaphragm and the lungs allowing that deep breath.

Feel the rise of the chest as you fill and expand.

With every release allowing the chest to fold back in.

The rib cage to close in.

The diaphragm to soften.

Breathing in and opening.

Feeling into the chest.

Into the heart.

And breath by breath releasing and allowing the body to soften and release.

Breathing in.

Expanding and opening.

Breathing out and allowing the chest to fold back.

A nice deep breath in.

A long release out and allow the chest,

The rib cage,

The diaphragm,

The lungs to soften.

Allow the shoulders to soften and drop towards the ground.

And this breath in travels down our arms.

Runs down our arms to the very tips of our fingers.

Breathing it in.

Into the fingers filling breath by breath.

With every release.

Breathing to release all that we have touched and connected to.

Allowing this moment to be just now.

Softening the fingers.

Softening the arms.

Dropping the shoulders to the ground.

Breathing it in and breathing it out.

Nice long breath in.

Nice long breath in.

A long release out.

And we move on to the throat and we swallow gently to clear it.

And we breathe to our face.

We allow our face to soften.

We take the tongue away from the roof of our mouth.

Tilt our chin slightly forward.

Breathing it in.

And breathing it out.

Taking the breath now to the mind.

Breathing it in.

Filling the mind breath by breath.

And as we breathe in.

Breath takes hold of the mind.

It fills the mind and every thought falls into the bubble of breath.

And with every release.

Breath by breath the thoughts release.

Breathing it in.

Breathing it out.

Breathing in.

Breathing it out.

Breathing in filling the mind.

Breathing out releasing thoughts.

Breath by breath allowing the calm.

The peace.

Silence to fill the mind.

Breathing it in.

Breathing it out.

Breathing it in.

And a long breath out to release.

Letting go of all that was.

Asking the mind to be here and now.

Breathing it in.

Breathing it out.

Taking a long breath in that goes all the way through the body down to the feet.

Filling the body.

Breathing out to release.

Softening.

Softening as we go.

Breathing it in.

And breathing it out.

Breath by breath allowing the stillness and the silence.

Release your body.

Focusing now only on the breath.

Feel the breath.

Feel run through the body.

Feel where it touches.

Feel where it connects.

The body has softened.

It has given over to the breath.

It has given over to the support of the ground.

You are now supported by all that is around you.

Allowing you to soften.

Focus on breath and this moment.

Take your mind walking along your path.

The path from your sacred space that leads to your great door.

Breathe in and take in all that is around you.

You have created this path.

Connect to the scent,

To the colour,

To the gentle sounds.

Breathe and walk your way to your door.

Find your key in your pocket and gently open the great door to your sacred space.

Walking in and turning to lock the door behind you.

As you turn you see your garden.

Take a moment just one to close your eyes.

Breathe in.

Take in every scent,

Every colour.

Breathe out.

Now look around at your garden.

Everything that you created there.

Flowers,

The trees,

The bees,

The animals.

Just gently start to connect and walk towards the garden.

Reach your hand out and allow yourself to touch the flowers or the leaves.

Allow a gentle smile.

Allow yourself to feel safe.

Feel the calmness.

Enjoy the stillness and the silence.

Breathing it in.

Breathing it out.

Yand it through the garden.

Go gently allowing yourself to take in all that is there.

And make your way through to the other side.

On the other side of the garden is lush green fields,

Rolling hills.

All the many things we have in that sacred space.

Walk yourself towards the distance where there's a gentle slope allowing you to walk down the side of the hill.

Let your body fall to your feet as you slowly walk down the slope.

Step by step.

Your body giving way to the slope of the hill.

Walking your way down.

And as you make your way down to the bottom,

You come to the gentle river that runs through your sacred space.

For a moment just stop and listen to the trickling sounds.

To the bubbles,

The gurgles,

The splash.

Feel the coolness that it brings.

Look at the colours.

Feel its softness.

Look at all the life around the river.

The trees that are growing.

The grass that works its way to the edge.

Walk yourself over.

Slip your shoes off.

And place your toes in the water.

Feel the coolness.

Feel its gentle,

Gentle caress.

Already you feel yourself giving way to being in the water.

Giving way to being in your sacred space.

You feel safe.

You feel your body releasing tension.

You feel your mind holding nothing but the stillness around you.

You allow yourself to slowly give way.

Breathe it in.

Breathe out and just allow your body to fall into the sacred space deeper.

Feel the coolness of the water on your feet.

It's not deep water.

The smooth rocks that cover its bottom allow you to step gently through the water.

Just walk a while.

Each step giving way deeper and deeper to the water.

To its flow.

To all that it gives you.

Breathing it in.

Breathing it out.

Allowing yourself to just enjoy the stillness of the moment.

As you walk down the river you find a widening and a clearing.

Where you can walk out a little further and supported by the rocks.

You can sit to lay down.

You feel your body laying gently against the smooth rocks.

Your head supported.

Your shoulder blades nestled back against the rocks.

Your whole body supported by the water with the water gently caressing around you.

Allow your fingers to run through the water.

Feel its velvet touch.

You are warmed by the sun.

Water touching at your sides.

Licking at your ears.

Kissing your cheeks.

Gently holding you.

Here you will surrender.

Here is your pool of surrender to life.

To the past.

To the future.

There is no thought beyond now.

This moment.

Surrender to this moment and allow yourself to be held by the earth.

To be warmed by the sun.

To be nurtured by the water.

All of the elements nourishing and nurturing you at this time as you gently give way and surrender to life.

Breathing it in.

Breathing it out and allowing yourself to slowly and slowly and slowly soften deeper and deeper against the rocks.

The air gently moving over you.

Deep breath in.

A long breath out.

A deep sigh.

And you surrender.

Let go of the need to know.

Let go of the need to find.

Let go of the need to discover.

Let go of all that was.

Let go of all that will be.

Simply be in this moment.

Feel the moment.

There is nothing for you to control.

Nothing for you to know.

Life has you.

Life supports you.

You are held by the earth.

You are warmed by the sun.

You are nurtured by the water.

And the gentle air that rushes over you carries every breath from this moment to the next.

There is nothing more than this moment.

You feel nothing.

And yet everything.

You are empty to the moment.

You give yourself to this moment,

To life,

To the elements that are holding you right now.

Allow yourself this time.

Focus on your breath and the elements that support you.

Give yourself to this moment.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

There is nothing more than this moment.

Into your surrender.

There is no control.

There is no connection to time,

To thoughts.

Completely held by this moment.

All that rises within you.

Allow breath by breath the elements to carry them away.

You are supported by the earth.

You are nurtured by the water.

You are warmed by the sun.

And the air rushes over you and carries your breath from one moment to the next.

Give yourself to life,

To its elements,

To its creations.

Breath by breath.

Slowly work through any tensions in your body.

Any thoughts that come to mind.

Give in mind.

Give in our life.

Allow each one to know.

I hold no control.

I hold no connection.

I am here.

This moment.

Given over to life.

Give over to surrender.

And as you soften and slowly surrender deeper and deeper.

Allow yourself to give way to all that you are within.

Allow all that you are within to open and meet with the elements of life.

Allow them to merge.

Allow them to be one.

Your truth.

The truth of life.

Flowing.

Together.

This moment.

You are held by the earth.

Warmed by the sun.

Nourished by the water.

And the air brushes over you carrying your breath from this moment to the next.

Give all that rises to life.

Anything that remains.

Any pain.

Any thoughts.

Any worries.

Any illness.

Surrender it now to life.

Give it over to the earth.

Give it up to the sun.

Let it go in the water.

Let it be carried by the air.

Breathe in.

And breathe out.

Slowly.

Gently.

Each piece of you unfolds.

Given over to life.

Surrendered to life.

Allowing all that is.

To take all that you have held.

And carry it away.

Allow yourself to stay with this moment.

For as long as you are comfortable surrendering.

Breathing.

Releasing.

Softening to life.

When you are ready and only in your own time.

When you are ready to come back to where you are in the river.

Come back to the water.

And reconnect to your surrounding.

Give yourself a moment to connect.

Before standing.

Walking to the edge of the river.

And walking towards your garden.

Slowly.

Feel how light you are.

Feel how softened you are.

You are almost weakened by the journey of releasing and surrendering everything to life.

It's been a long journey.

Walk to your garden.

Gently take in all the scent of the flowers around you.

Until you are ready.

Stay in your surrender.

Stay softening.

Stay surrendering in the water.

And when you are ready and at your own pace.

Walking through your sacred space to the great door.

Making sure you lock the door behind you.

As you leave and as you walk back through your pathway back to where you are.

Until that moment breathing.

Releasing.

Surrendering to all of life.

Breathing it in.

Breathing it out.

Surrendering all that you are.

Breathe in.

Breathe out.

And as you come back to this moment of breath connecting to your body.

Breathe through the length of the body and fill the body with breath.

And feel into the breath.

Feel into the body.

Allow yourself to know that all that you have given over has gone now.

Carried by life away.

Any questions you may have had.

The answers will rise slowly and gently within you.

All that you have given over to life will now be dealt with by life.

All the elements support you.

All that is around you is love.

Breathing it in.

Breathing it out.

Breathing it in.

Breathing it out.

Know that you are loved.

Know that you are worthy of this life.

Know that you fulfil the greatness of life just as being you.

Breathing it in.

And breathing it out.
