Sacred Space
by Cari
Once we have learnt to fully relax and open our creative essence we can begin to create sacred space where we can go to muse over life and all it brings to us. As you create your own sacred space you can return here again and again to ponder what life offers.

So today we're going to be looking at creative visualization.
Creative visualization is a beautiful journey and it's one that is so very useful in so many ways.
Already once we have held a moment where we looked to discover what we could see,
What we could feel.
We looked for colors,
Shapes and now I'm going to actually create a journey for you.
One that you can be guided through,
One that you can just gently walk through and slowly create and build on your ability to visualize these spaces within your own mind.
So again as usual find a nice place to sit or to lay.
Allow yourself a moment to get comfortable.
Allow yourself a moment to take a deep breath in and a long breath out and allow yourself to sink a little deeper into the space.
If you're sitting you can feel yourself sitting down deeper into the hips,
Your feet evenly placed on the floor,
Your spine nice and straight.
If you're laying your body is even over the floor laying firmly on the ground.
Allow your lower back to release.
Allow your shoulders to settle back against the floor.
Taking a nice deep breath in and a long breath out.
Finding focus on the breath,
No control,
Just watching the chest rise and fall,
Feeling into the breath and allowing its journey.
Taking a nice deep breath in and a long breath out and a deeper release.
Getting a lightness to the body.
A nice deep breath in and feel yourself of all that has happened on this day and a long breath out to release and allow it to slip away and as you draw your next breath allow that breath to come all the way down to the feet and then slowly draw it up through the body as you breathe out.
Work your way now with your next breath into the legs,
Drawing it up through the body as you release,
Allowing each body part to soften,
To mold more deeply into your position and a deep breath in and into the hips and a long breath out to release and a breath into the stomach and the spine.
As you release,
Allow the stomach to fall down through the spine towards the ground and a breath in to the shoulders,
Down the arms to the fingers,
Soften the arms,
Loosen the fingers and a breath through the throat,
A breath to soften the face,
Release the tongue and finally to the mind.
Just allowing the mind to release the thoughts one by one as each breath is released and a nice deep breath in from feet all the way to the top of the head,
Breathing out a smooth long breath and a last deep breath in and a long breath out and release.
The body's relaxed,
Allow the body to just fold away and find focus just on the breath.
Today we're going to create your sacred space,
A beautiful safe space that you can always return to to find a moment,
To find answers,
To hold questions,
Space for stillness and silence and it begins with you getting there.
So create a path,
It doesn't matter where the path is,
Running along a beach,
Running through a forest,
Over the mountains,
Allow yourself to find the path that comes to you and begin walking along your path.
Now create your day.
What is the weather like?
Is it a warm day?
Is it a gentle spring day?
Are there clouds?
Is the Sun a burning warm radiant heat or is it a gentle soft glow?
Are there clouds that hold rain?
Create your day as you're walking along the path.
Now create your scenery.
What is around you?
Trees,
The beach,
The mountains,
Are there houses?
Is there anybody there?
Are there rocks?
Are there lakes or streams of water walking along the path?
What have you created as this beautiful path to your sacred space?
As you're walking along your path up ahead I want you to see a tree.
Again what is the tree that comes to you?
It could be a beautiful old gum tree,
It may be an oak tree or a pine,
It may be a large flowering jacaranda.
The tree is large,
It's sturdy,
It's hundreds of years old.
The trunk is knotted with twists and turns and the branches reach out and there is a beautiful shade underneath this tree.
Allow yourself to walk towards the tree.
Place your hands against the trunk,
Speak to the tree in gratitude and turn and with your spine firmly against the trunk slide down the tree until you're comfortably sitting at her base.
This beautiful tree is your worry tree.
Before entering into your sacred space you're allowed to release all the worries.
This tree has the capacity to hold much of your burdens.
It can hold great weight and it asks you to release as you breathe all the stresses,
All the concerns and worries that you have and as you breathe out give it up to the tree and release.
When you're finished releasing your worries allow yourself to stand and placing one hand on the tree,
One on your heart,
Give thanks and gratitude again.
Going back to the path and gently walking a little lighter,
A little calmer along your path.
Ahead to the left of the path there is a big gate.
Is it a brass gate?
Is it a wooden gate?
It has the walls around you can't see in.
Maybe there's a hedge climbing over it or some ivy vines.
See it in the distance,
Create it,
Allow yourself to picture it and walking towards.
As you approach the gate you place your hand in your pocket and you find the key.
Unlock the door,
Enter and turn to lock it again to know that your sacred space remains only for you.
The key goes back into your pocket.
As you turn to see your sacred space there is vast rolling green hills and along the fence line to the left is a beautiful cottage garden.
Walk towards it there is as many flowers as there is colors.
Allow yourself to see and connect to all the different flowers,
All the different herbs that are in the garden.
The scent is amazing.
Think of every different flower,
Every different color that you would want to create in your cottage garden.
Allow yourself to walk through,
To connect,
To see,
To name any of the flowers,
The colors.
Bring yourself right into the garden.
Touch,
Smell,
See,
Feel,
Taste some of the herbs and allow yourself to fully be present in that garden.
In this sacred space many things happen and we take many journeys.
Walk through the garden and at the end you'll see that you're standing at the top of one of the smallest hills.
You can see as far as you can to other hills,
To the green rolling.
Allow yourself to hear the sounds of the birds,
To hear the trickle of water.
There must be a creek nearby.
Take it all in.
Create it,
See it,
Visualize it and now you're going to explore it.
There is a number of different special places in your sacred space.
If you want to at some point you can listen to this message again and write down the different places and if you need to we can journey to individual ones.
On your left just slightly down the hill we have an amazing boulder,
A large rock that you can climb and that you can sit on.
This is our wisdom rock where we can take questions,
Where we can sit in silence and allow the answer to arise.
To the right of our garden is a beautiful gazebo.
This is our journaling space.
There is a book and a pen left in this space for you to go into at any time and sit and write and release feelings,
Thoughts.
Down the bottom of the hill is our beautiful stream running into little creeks.
This is our releasing stream where we can go to release and allow everything to wash over us and pass us by.
Further off in the distance there is a field of yellow flowers.
In that field of flowers we can lay,
We can surrender,
We can become one with nature and find a great silence and stillness within.
Our final space is on the other side of the creek,
Of the little stream that's running through our sacred space.
At some point you may want to go and wade through the water over to the other side.
This other side is for our shadows,
For the dark thoughts,
For the moments that we may hold of fear or of regret,
Of pain,
Of grief.
Allow yourself to recall where each of these five places are.
And now spend some time just gently exploring and making your way around and creating this amazing sacred space.
When you're ready and it's time to leave,
Be certain to lock the gate on the other side and allow yourself to wander very gently down the path back to where you are sitting.
Connect to your breathing and back to where we are.
But for now spend a little time in your sacred space.
Really connect and create and allow yourself time to become clear with your visualising.
And we will meet again soon.
