So,

You've got a big event coming up and you're nervous.

I know that feeling.

I've been there,

Done that,

Got the t-shirt.

I remember doing my presentation at university and being so nervous that I could barely even stand and my heart was racing at 100mph and I remember my mouth getting really dry and by the end I realised that actually I did fine.

And more often than not we work things up to be bigger than what they actually are because of the natural processes of the mind that takes place.

Basically fight or flight kicks in and we end up going into this state of nerves.

So,

How do we counteract that before big events?

Well,

Nerves are healthy but having too much nerves can often really impact what you're about to do,

Whether it's a presentation like I did or a job interview or something big that you have ahead of you that's extremely nerve-wracking.

One thing that I learnt to do whilst doing different presentations at college and whilst going to different job interviews throughout my life is I realised that if I was able to visualise the people I loved beforehand and when I was in the interview or when I was doing the presentation,

Imagine them in the crowd or sitting beside me,

Then that would work as a way of counteracting my nerves because I just suddenly started to feel their love even though they weren't there and I know that sounds cheesy but it works.

It really feels like you're not alone when you're doing those things.

So,

What I'm going to be doing with you today is a small guided visualisation session that will help you visualise your family members and your friends and your loved ones.

So,

When this tough time comes up,

You're able to use this experience as a way of dealing with your nerves.

So,

First of all,

I want you to just begin simple breathing in through your nose and out through your mouth.

Take your time with this.

Do it in a relaxed way.

Just gain a bit of awareness of your body.

Feel yourself sitting in the seat or wherever you are.

Feel the ground beneath you.

Just continue breathing and feeling.

Okay,

Now I just want you to imagine yourself in the scenario that you're going to be in.

Really imagine what that may look like.

The people that will be there,

The environment that you're going to be in,

The situation that you're going to be in.

Really try to visualise it in your mind's eye.

Proper planning and preparation prevents poor performance.

It's the six P's.

So,

When you visualise this,

It will help you prepare for it and therefore give a better performance.

So,

Now I want you to imagine the situation you're going to be in but place your friends,

Your family in the vicinity around you.

Whether that's in the audience or sitting on the chairs next to you.

Just place them in the area.

They're smiling at you.

They're cheering you on.

They've got your back.

They believe in you.

Just imagine them there cheering you on as you do your thing.

ASL A These are the people in your life that are closest to you.

And you know full well that they actually believe in you.

They know that you can do it.

So with their confidence,

Go forward into whatever it is you have to do.

Embody that feeling that they have about you.

Be your own best friend going into this.

Start telling yourself that you're capable.

That you're worthy.

Let's finish this exercise with powerful affirmations that are going to help you going forward.

You can use this meditation as many times as you want to make you feel good before your performance.

I am capable.

I am able.

I am prepared.

I am ready.

I am able to overcome negative thoughts about the situation.

I am capable.

I am able.

I am prepared.

I am ready.

I am able to overcome negative thoughts about the situation.

I am capable.

I am able.

I am prepared.

I am ready.

I am able to overcome negative thoughts about the situation.

I am capable.

I am able.

I am prepared.

I am ready.

I am able to overcome negative thoughts about the situation.

Use these visualizations and these affirmations whenever you want before any big situation that you have to deal with.

You can even use the visualization whilst you are involved in whatever it is you have to deal with.

It's only using your imagination.

It's a powerful tool if you use it correctly.

I believe in you and I know you've got this.

Thank you for being here today and taking part.

Have a wonderful day and all the best.
