Welcome to a guided meditation on grounding and connecting with the senses.

This can help you connect with the present moment,

Decrease stress,

And feel calmer and more centered.

I invite you to sit in a chair or on the floor in a comfortable upright seated position if that's available to you or you may lay down.

We can practice connecting with senses through interoception,

The ability to sense and understand what's happening inside your body including your physical and emotional state.

I'm going to walk you through connecting with each sense and I invite you to try to stay present and non-judgmental in this practice.

If your mind wanders or negative thoughts arise,

Simply acknowledge them and gently refocus your attention on your senses.

Let's begin.

Close your eyes,

Open your eyes,

Turn your attention to your sense of sight.

I invite you to notice five things you can see.

Noticing colors,

Shapes,

And textures.

And close your eyes,

Open your eyes.

Let's move on to your sense of touch.

I invite you to notice four things that you can touch.

Focusing on their temperature,

Texture,

And weight.

Close your eyes,

Open your eyes.

Next,

Focus on your sense of sound.

Listen for three things that you can hear and try to identify where they are coming from and what they sound like.

And close your eyes,

Open your eyes.

Let's move on to your sense of smell and identify two things that you can smell.

You might breathe in deeply or notice a faint aroma.

And close your eyes,

Open your eyes.

Finally,

Focus on your sense of taste.

Notice one thing that you can taste.

And close your eyes,

Open your eyes.

How do you feel?

What is coming up for you?
