This guided tree visualization meditation is designed to help you cultivate a sense of calm, ease, peace, and well-being, grounding yourself in your breath and body. The visualization of the tree is used to focus your awareness on the core of your being, dropping you out of the busyness in your head into your body, to create a grounded energy of stillness, peace, and calm. It is adapted from a practice by the Buddhist monk, Thich Nhat Hanh. The track was written and recorded by Emma Gray, a meditation teacher, Clinical Psychologist, and leading expert in mindfulness and women's well-being.

Inviting you to take a breath or two here,

Breathing in through the nostrils into the belly,

As you connect with your breath,

It can invite us into the present moment,

Helping ground us in the present,

Bringing us into the here and now.

So inviting you here to start to become aware of the breath,

Noticing where you feel it most in your body right now,

You might feel it in your nostrils,

You might feel it as subtle movement in the body,

In the rise and fall of the chest and the belly,

Becoming friends with the breath,

Allowing it to bring you into the present moment,

To lead you deeper within,

Breathing into the point just below the belly button,

Into your core,

Into your centre,

And as you continue breathing into your core,

You might imagine a big,

Tall,

Strong,

Powerful tree,

With its solid tree trunk,

And that your core,

Your torso,

Your trunk is like the trunk of the tree,

There is a stillness there,

A quiet strength,

There is no forcing,

There is no trying,

Just a gentle being,

And as you envision that tree,

Imagine its roots growing deep,

Deep,

Deep into the earth,

So feeling your feet connected to the ground here,

You might even imagine roots growing out through the soles of your feet,

Deep into mother earth,

Just like the roots of that tree,

Grounding you,

Connecting you deeply,

Strongly,

Powerfully to the energy of mother earth,

Absorbing all of her wisdom,

All of her gentle strength,

Her nourishing energy,

Blowing up those roots into that tree trunk,

And as you continue to breathe into your trunk,

Into your belly,

There might be movement in the mind,

There might be thoughts coming and going,

That's okay,

Making space for those thoughts,

Allowing them to come and go,

Just like the breeze moves through the branches and the leaves of the tree,

There might be movement there,

There might be energy,

The tree doesn't resist the breeze,

There's just a being,

Continuing to breathe into your belly,

Allowing your focus to drop out of your head,

Into your belly,

Into your feet,

Breathing in the energy of the tree,

Feeling the stillness in her trunk,

In her roots,

Feeling the deep peace,

Even on the windiest day,

The trunk and the roots remain still,

Still,

Strong,

Solid,

Just breathing,

Just being,

Present with the energy of the tree,

With the energy of mother nature,

Absorbing her love,

Her wisdom,

Her nourishment,

And just as the tree allows the breeze to flow without resistance,

We too can allow the flow of life,

Making space for whatever might come to us,

Whatever might arise in our experience,

We can just allow ourselves to be present,

To whatever arises within or without,

Making space for the now,

Opening to the adventure,

The love and the magic of life,

Gently breathing as you start to become aware of your body again,

Feeling it in the chair,

Or wherever you might be sitting or lying right now,

Becoming aware of your arms,

Feeling the air around you,

Or wherever you might be sitting or lying right now,

Becoming aware of your arms and your hands,

Letting the image of the tree fade from your mind,

Thanking the energy of mother nature,

Becoming aware of your legs and your feet,

And starting to become aware of sounds around you,

Taking a few more breaths,

And gently opening your eyes and coming back into the room when you feel ready.
