Sit or lay down in a comfortable position.
We're going to take a few minutes here to come to a place of stillness and be present.
Our lives are so busy now with work,
Constant stimulation,
Noise,
Always thinking about the next thing to do.
So it's very easy to forget about being present.
And taking some time to be still and aware helps us come back to that present moment and recognise what is now.
So if you're comfortable doing so,
Close your eyes.
If not,
Don't worry.
I invite you to lower your gaze and perhaps pick a spot to gently focus on.
There's no right or wrong here.
And let's start with some breathing.
So I'd just like you to take a deep breath in.
Pause at the top for a moment.
And sigh it out of your mouth.
And take another deep breath in.
Pause.
And sigh it out.
Ah.
And just let your body sink into the surface that is supporting you.
And now just allow your breathing to return to its natural rhythm.
And just notice your breathing.
How does it feel?
The cold air going in,
The warmer air coming out.
Just notice.
If thoughts are coming into your head,
This is perfectly normal.
Let them float through and just come back to noticing.
What's the temperature like?
Is it warm?
How do your hands feel?
Are they warm or cold?
Just notice.
Notice the feeling of the fabric against your skin.
The texture.
And are there any sounds around you?
What can you hear?
Just notice.
All this is happening in the present moment.
Your breathing,
The temperature.
The surface supporting you,
The sounds.
This is the present moment.
How does it feel?
It might even feel a little uncomfortable being still,
Being present.
You might feel some emotions here.
And that's okay.
They're all welcome.
Just notice how you're feeling.
It can take some practice getting used to being present.
It's unfamiliar.
Being still.
It can take some time.
So let's be still and present here for a little while longer.
And just coming back to the breath now.
Take a couple of slightly deeper breaths.
Become aware of your surroundings.
And gently wiggle your fingers and your toes.
And when you're ready,
Slowly open your eyes.
Thank you.
